CAUTION : Install on cold water lines only.
Min./Max. Pressure: 20 – 90 psi.
Max. Temperature: 100°F.
CAUTION : Do not use wicking or sealer for fitting connections into the cap of the filter. Plumber tape is recommended.
CAUTION : This filter must be protected from freezing. Failure to do so may result in cracking of the filter and water leakage.

NOTE:

  • For cold water use only.
  • Make certain that installation complies with all state and local laws and regulations.
  • The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by the selected cartridge are not necessarily in your water. Ask your local water municipality for a copy of their water analysis, or have your water tested by a reputable water testing lab.

INSTALLATION

NOTE:

  • Please read all instructions, specifications, and precautions before installing and using this filter.
  • Installation of a shut-off valve on the supply line to the system is recommended.
  • Style of fittings may vary, depending on type and size of pipe.
  • Use only plumber’s tape for threaded housing connections.
  • Install system after water meter or pressure tank.
  1. Turn off the cold water supply and open the nearest faucet to release pressure in pipes before starting installation. Apply about 6 inches of plumber’s tape in a clockwise direction to all pipe threads.

  2. Use a bracket as a template to mark screw locations on a wall
NOTE : Allow a minimum 1-1/2 inch clearance below the housing to enable filter cartridge changes. Assemble all fittings. Start pipe adapters into cap by hand. Use a wrench to tighten firmly. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.
CAUTION : Do not use wicking or sealer for fitting connections into the cap of the filter. Plumber tape is recommended.

  3. Modify your plumbing to install unit.
NOTE : Check local codes. A jumper wire may be required if the water pipes are used to ground electrical systems, appliances, or phones.

  4. Position the filter assembly. Be certain the opening for incoming water is positioned with the correct pipe.

  5. Mount the filter to the wall.

  6. Connect plumbing. The filter should now be mounted and plumbed securely. The cartridges (sold separately) should be installed in the housings. A faucet should be open.

  7. Turn on water supply slowly. Allow filter to fill with water.

  8. Check all connections for leaks. Housings may be tightened further to stop leaks.

  9. Flush filter for five minutes before use.

CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Cartridges (sold separately) should be replaced when there is a noticeable drop in water flow at the faucet or tap, and/or when unpleasant tastes or odors return.

  1. Turn off water supply to the filter.

  2. Open nearest faucet to relieve pressure in the filter housing.

  3. Unscrew sump from cap. For easier opening, use the SW-4 spanner wrench included. Some water will spill.
NOTE : Sump will be filled with water and will be heavy.

  4. Remove used cartridge from sump and discard.
    Clean and Sanitize Sump

  5. Locate and remove o-ring from groove in the sump. Wipe groove and o-ring clean of old lubricant and set aside. Rinse out bottom of sump and fill 1/3 full with water. Add 1 tablespoon of bleach and scrub cap and bottom of sump with non-abrasive sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly. Re-lubricate o-ring with a coating of clean silicone grease. Place o-ring back in the groove and with two fingers wipe or press it down into the groove.
NOTE : This step is important to ensure proper filter seal. Make sure the o-ring is seated level in the groove.

  6. Insert a new cartridge into the sump, making sure that it slips down over the sump standpipe.

  7. Screw the sump into the cap and hand-tighten. Do not over-tighten. Make sure cartridge slips over the cap standpipe.

  8. Turn on the water supply to allow filter to slowly fill with water.

  9. Close faucet and check for leaks before leaving installation.

WARNING : Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
NOTE : An activated carbon cartridge (Taste/Odor) will contain a small amount of carbon fines (i.e. very fine black powder). A new cartridge, after installation, should be flushed with sufficient water to remove the fines before using the water.
NOTE : Some air may remain in the water lines after replacing the cartridges. This air will dissipate within a week.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Leaks At the pipe threads

  • Use plumber’s tape.

At the o-ring

  • Make sure the o-ring is clean, lubricated and properly sealed.
  • Hand-tighten the housing.
  • Check cartridge length. All 20-inch cartridges should not exceed 201/16 inches. If cartridge is too long, replace with proper length cartridge.

To Open:

  • Rotate sump from right to left to open.
  • If sump sticks or is difficult to open, use spanner wrench to turn.

Low Flow:

  • On Newly-Installed Systems
Improper cartridge for application. Generally too small of a filter housing for application. Recalculate requirements and size filter housing accordingly.

  • On Existing Systems
Caused by plugged or dirty cartridges, or incorrect cartridge type. Replace cartridge.
