Product Information

The product is a fire pit that uses propane gas as fuel. It comes with a 20 lb propane gas cylinder and lava rocks. The fire pit has a control panel and a door that can be attached to the legs of the base. The cylinder valve outlet has a dust cap provided with it, which should be placed on whenever the cylinder is not in use. The product comes with safety instructions and information that must be read and understood before installation and usage.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Perform a leak test before lighting the fire pit and each time the propane cylinder is connected for use. Do not smoke or use sources of ignition in the area while conducting a leak test. Conduct the leak test outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
  2. Do not store a spare propane cylinder under or near this appliance. Never fill the cylinder beyond 80 percent full. When burning lava rocks for the first time, stand well back from the fire pit until it stops making popping noises or rocks exploding in the first 30 minutes of use.
  3. Make sure the propane gas cylinder valve is closed before installing it. Open the door of the fire pit and check that the control knob is in the OFF position. Loosen the cylinder retainer bolt by turning counterclockwise. Place the propane gas cylinder upright into the hole in the fire pit base and secure it by turning the cylinder retainer bolt clockwise until tight. Close the door.
  4. Before connecting the propane gas cylinder, remove the protective cap from the propane gas cylinder valve. Be sure there is no debris caught in the head of the propane gas cylinder valve, head of the regulator or in the head of the burner and burner ports.
  5. Hold the regulator in one hand and insert nipple into the cylinder outlet. Be sure the nipple is centered in the cylinder valve outlet. Hand-tighten coupling nut clockwise until it comes to a full stop. Firmly tighten by hand only. Do not use tools.
  6. Perform a leak test after connecting the propane gas cylinder.
  7. Do not insert any tool or foreign object into the valve outlet or safety relief valve. It may cause a leak and result in explosion, fire, severe personal injury or death.
  8. Use caution and common sense when testing for leaks. If you are unable to stop a leak, disconnect the propane cylinder and call a gas appliance service or your local gas supplier.

Before You Start

  • Separate and count all parts and hardware.
  • Read through each step carefully and follow the proper order.
  • We recommend that, where possible, all items are assembled near to the area in which they will be placed in use, to avoid moving the product unnecessarily once assembled.
  • Always place the product on a flat, steady and stable surface.
  • Keep all small parts and packaging materials for this product away from babies and children as they potentially pose a serious choking hazard.

Warning: When the lava rocks are burned for the first time, you may hear popping noises or notice rocks exploding in the first 30 minutes of use, please stand well back from the fire pit until it stops.

  • A DANGER FLAMMABLE GAS UNDER PRESSURE.

WARNING

  • Know the odor of LP-gas. If you hear, see or smell leaking LP-gas, immediately get everyone away from the cylinder and call the Fire Department. Do not attempt repairs.

    • Be certain cylinder is purged of trapped air prior to first filling.
    • Be certain not to over fill the cylinder.
    • Be certain cylinder requalification date is checked.
  • LP-gas is heavier than air and may settle in low places while dissipating.
  • Contact with the liquid contents of cylinder will cause freeze burns to the skin.
  • Do not allow children to tamper or play with cylinder.
  • When not connected for use, keep cylinder valve turned off. Self-contained appliances shall be limited to a cylinder of 30 lb capacity or less.
  • Do not use, store or transport cylinder where it would be exposed to high temperatures.The relief valve may open allowing a large amount of flammable gas to escape.
  • When transporting, keep cylinder secured in an upright position with cylinder valve turned off.

WHEN CONNECTING FOR USE

  • Use only in compliance with applicable codes.
  • Read and follow manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Consult manufacturer’s instructions concerning the cylinder connection provided with your appliance.
  • Be sure regulator vent is not pointing up.
  • Turn off all valves on the appliance.
  • Do not check for gas leaks with a match or open flame. Apply soapy water at areas marked in the illustration below. Open cylinder valve. If bubbles appear, close valve and have a qualified service technician make necessary repairs. Also check appliance valves and connections to make sure they do not leak before lighting the appliance.
  • Light appliance(s) following manufacturer’s instructions.
  • When the appliance is not in use, keep the cylinder valve closed.

DANGER:  Do not store a spare LP cylinder under or near a barbecue grill, or other heat sources. a NEVER fill an LP cylinder beyond 80%full: a fire causing death or serious injury may occur.

  • This appliance is set for use with PROPANE only. The conversion to or attempted use of Natural gas in this appliance is dangerous. May cause bodily harm.

    • Min. gas supply for input adj: 25(175 KPa).
    • Manifold pressure with regulator provided: 11 in wc (2.74KPa).

PROPANE GAS CYLINDER

  1. The propane gas supply cylinder to be used must be constructed and marked in accordance with the U.S Department of Transportation (D.O.T) Specifications for LP-Gas cylinders, or the Standard for cylinders, Spheres, and Tubes for Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Commission, CAN/CSA-B339,as applicable;
  2. Propane gas cylinder must be arranged for vapor withdrawal.
  3. Use only 20-pound Propane cylinder. Approximately 18 1/4 in. (46.4cm) high and 12 1/4 in. (31.1cm) in diameter.
  4. The propane gas cylinder must have a listed overfilling prevention device (OPD) and a QCC I or Type I (CGA810) LP Gas cylinder connection.
  5. The propane gas cylinder must have a tank collar to protect the tank valve.
  6. Never use a propane gas cylinder with a damaged body, valve, collar or footing.
  7. Dented or rusted propane gas cylinder may be hazardous and should be checked by your propane cylinder supplier prior to use.
  8. The propane gas cylinder should not be dropped or handled roughly.
  9. The propane gas cylinder must be stored outdoors, out of the reach of children and must not be stored in a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.
  10. The propane cylinder must never be stored where the temperature can reach over 125° F(51.5°C)
  11. Never keep a propane cylinder in a hot car or trunk, since heat will cause the gas pressure to increase,which may open the relief valve and allow propane gas to escape.
  12. DO NOT insert any tool or foreign object into the valve outlet or safety relief valve. You may damage the valve and cause a leak. Leaking propane may result in explosion, fire, severe personal injury or death.
  13. Place dust cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the cylinder is not in use. Only install the type of the dust cap on the cylinder valve outlet that is provided with cylinder valve. Other type of caps or plugs may result in leakage of propane.
  14. DO NOT store a spare propane cylinder under or near this appliance.
  15. Never fill the cylinder beyond 80 percent full.
  16. Disconnect the cylinder when the appliance is not being used.
  17. Other cylinder may be acceptable for use with this appliance provided they have the same profile and dimension to be compatible with the appliance nesting hole and retention means.
  18. A fire causing serious injury or damage to property may occur if the above is not followed exactly.
    • DO NOT connect to a remote gas supply.
    • DO NOT attempt to disconnect the gas cylinder or any gas fitting while the appliance is in operation.

CHECKING FOR LEAKS

This appliance has been check for leaks, however connections can become loose during shipment. Check all connections prior to use.

  • Check for leaks even if your appliance was assembled for you by someone else.
  • DO NOT operate if a gas leak is present. Gas leaks may cause fire or explosion.
  • You must follow all instruction to check for leaks:
  1. Always perform a leak test before lighting this appliance and each time the propane cylinder is connected for use.
  2. DO NOT smoke near the appliance. DO NOT use or permit sources of ignition in the area while conducting a leak test.
  3. Conduct the leak test outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
  4. DO NOT use matches, lighters or a flame to check for leak.
  5. DO NOT use gasoline, kerosene or alcohol to light the appliance.
  6. Strong odors, colds, sinus congestion, etc, may prevent the detection of propane. Use caution and common sense when testing for leaks.
  7. DO NOT use this appliance until any and all leaks are corrected. If you are unable to stop a leak, disconnect the propane cylinder, Call a gas appliance service or your local gas supplier.
  • The use of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs may impair the consumer’s ability to properly assemble or safely operate the appliance.
  • DO NOT put any other appliance cover or anything flammable on, or beneath the appliance.
  • DO NOT operate with a vinyl or PVC cover. Allow the unit to cool completely before placing a vinyl or PVC cover on the fire pit.
  • If applicable, Table lid must be removed when burner is in operation.
  • Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition.
  • Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the area of the appliance.
  • Clothing or other flammable material should not be hung from the appliance or placed on or near the appliance.
  • Any guard, barrier, or other protective device removed for servicing the appliance shall be replaced prior to operating the appliance.
  • Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least once a year by a qualified service person.
  • More frequent cleaning may be required. It is imperative that the control compartment, burner and circulating air passageways of the appliance are kept clean.
  • Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control that has been under water.
  • DO NOT burn solid fuels such as: wood, charcoal briquettes, lump, charcoal, manufactured logs,driftwood, trash, leaves, paper, cardboard, plywood, painted/stained/pressure treated wood in this appliance.
  • DO NOT store any combustible materials under the table.
  • Always use this appliance on a hard, level, non-combustible surface such as concrete, rock/stone or metal, NEVER use on a wood or composite surface.
  • Do not wear flammable or loose clothing when operating this outdoor fire pit.
  • Do not lean over fire pit when lighting or operating. Never place hands or fingers on the upper portion of the unit while in use.
  • Certain areas of this outdoor fire pit when in use will become too hot to touch. To avoid burns, do NOT touch hot surface until the appliance has completely cooled (about 45Min).
  • Do not attempt to move this appliance when in use. Allow the appliance to cool completely before moving or storing.
  • Do not attempt to disconnect the gas regulator from the gas cylinder or any gas fitting while the appliance is in use.
  • Keep any electrical supply cord and fuel supply hose away from any heated surfaces.
  • Keep your appliance free and clear from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids.
  • The burner must be replaced prior to the appliance being put in to operation if it is evident that the burner is damaged. The replacement burner shall be that specified by the manufacturer.
  • Visually inspect burner for obstructions and carbon deposits.
  • The hose and regulator assembly must be replaced prior to the appliance being put into operation if there is evidence of excessive abrasion or wear or if the hose is damaged. The replacement hose and regulator assembly shall be specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use this appliance under umbrellas, awnings, etc.
  • Do not sit or stand on any part of this appliance.
  • Do not use in windy conditions.
  • Do not use this outdoor fire pit near automobiles, trucks, vans or recreational vehicles.
  • Storage of this outdoor fire pit indoor is permissible only if the gas cylinder is disconnected, removed from the appliance and properly stored outdoors.

PREPARATION

Before beginning assembly of product, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts with package contents list and hardware contents If any part(s) is missing or damaged, DO NOT attempt to assemble this product, contact customer service for replacement parts.

Assembly Tips

  1. Select an area where you will assemble this product. To protect components, choose a smooth surface that’s free of cracks or openings.
  2. Spread out all parts.
  3. Tighten all hardware connections by hand first. Then, before completing each step, go back and fully tighten all hardware. Be careful not to over-tighten. That could damage surfaces or strip threads.
  4. For best result, complete each step in the order presented.

CAUTION: when an appliance is for connection to a fixed piping system, the installation must conform with local codes, or in the absence of local regulations,comply with the National Fuel Gas CodeANSIZ223.1·NFPA 54; National Fuel Gas Code; Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code. CSA B149.1; or Propane Storage and Handling Code CSA B149.2as applicable;cover must be removed when burner is in operation.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Attach Control Panel and Door to Legs
    • Note: Do not fully tighten screws until step 4

    • Note: Before tightened screws from step 1 to 4, please make sure the door is smooth to open and close.

  8. Insert the control valve stem into the round hole on the control panel first.
  9. DO NOT let the base assembly press into the regulator/hose assembly.

    • DO NOT dump Lava rocks or glass rocks out of package.
    • Carefully place rocks by hand so dust does not block burner ports and ignition box.
    • Wear gloves when handling rocks. Always keep the ignition box visible. This ignition box must be clear and free of obstructions at all times to ensure proper operation.

    • CAUTION:  DO NOT light or use this appliance if lava rocks or glass rocks are wet. Make sure the rocks are completely dry before lighting as intense heat could cause the rocks to crack.
    • Lava Rocks or Glass rocks could hit a person’s face or eyes during the initial startup of this appliance. Keep away from the appliance for the first 20 Minutes after use.
    • Use only factory authorized rocks. The use of any rocks that are not factory authorized can be dangerous.
    • When switching from lava rocks (or glass rocks) to glass rocks (or lava rocks),remove all rocks before placing new rocks.
    • DO NOT mix lava rocks with glass rocks or glass rocks with lava rocks.
    • DO NOT add more than the specified weight rocks.
  12. Place Table Lid
    • WARNING: NEVER place a table lid on the fire pit when in use.
    • Ensure the fire pit has cooled before placing a table lid over the fire pit.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING

  • DO NOT attempt to operate until you have read and understood all General Safety Information in this manual.

CLEARANCE

WARNING: DO NOT store any combustible materials under the table.

  • This appliance is for outdoor use only, and should NOT be in a building, garage or any other enclosed area.
  • Keep the unit away and clear from any combustible materials as illustrated.
  • For installation on (or over) Noncombustible Floors Only.
  • Always use this appliance on a hard, level, non-combustible surface such as concrete, rock/stone or metal, NEVER use on a wood or composite surface.
  • Do not use this appliance under umbrellas, awnings, etc.
  • Do not allow to tip or fall over, fire pit must remain upright as illustrated at all times.

PROPANE GAS CYLINDER

  • Use only 201b propane gas cylinder
  • Propane gas cylinder sold separated.

CAUTION: DO NOT attempt to install or operate the propane gas cylinder until you have read and understood all PROPANE GAS CYLINDER Safety Information.

INSTALLING PROPANE GAS CYLINDER

WARNING

  • DO NOT store a spare propane cylinder under or near this appliance.
  • DO NOT connect to a remote gas supply
  1. Make sure the propane gas cylinder valve is closed. The cylinder valve handle must be turned clockwise to a full stop.
  2. Open the door.
  3. Check the control knob is in the OFF” ” position.
  4. Loosen cylinder retainer bolt by turning counterclockwise.
  5. Place propane gas cylinder upright into hole in the fire pit base as illustration.
  6. Secure propane gas cylinder by turning the cylinder retainer bolt clockwise until tight.
  7. Close the door.

Connecting Propane Gas Cylinder

  1. Make sure Propane gas cylinder valve is closed and control knob is in the OFF” ” position.
  2. Remove the protective cap from the propane gas cylinder valve.
  3. Before connecting, be sure there is no debris caught in the head of the propane gas cylinder valve, head of the regulator or in the head of the burner and burner ports.
  4. Hold the regulator in one hand and insert nipple into the cylinder outlet. Be sure the nipple is centered in the cylinder valve outlet.
  5. Hand-tighten coupling nut clockwise until it comes to a full stop. Firmly tighten by hand only. Do not use tools.
  6. Perform “Checking for leaks” section.

Disconnecting Propane Gas Cylinder

  1. Make sure the appliance is cooled completely (about 45Minutes)
  2. Make sure Propane gas cylinder valve is closed and control knob is in the OFF” ” position.
  3. Turn the couple nut counterclockwise until the regulator assembly detaches.
  4. Place the protective cap cover on the propane gas cylinder valve and store the propane gas cylinder in a well- ventilated area out of the direct sunlight.

WARNING

  • The hose and regulator assembly must be replaced prior to the appliance being put into operation if there is evidence of excessive abrasion or wear or if the hose is damaged. The replacement hose and regulator assembly shall be specifed by the manufacturer.
  • Propane gas cylinder must be properly disconnected and removed prior to moving this fire. Do NOT attempt to disconnect the gas regulator from the gas cylinder or any gas fitting while the appliance is in use.

CHECKING FOR LEAKS

Burner connection

  1. Make sure the regulator hose and control valve connections are securely fastened to the burner and gas cylinder.
  2. Visually check the connection between the burner/venturi tube and orifice.
  3. Make sure the burner/venturi tube fits over the orifice as illustration.
  4. If the burner/venturi tube does not rest flush to the orifice as illustration, Please contract the service department for assistance.

WARNING

  • Failure to inspect this connection or follow this instruction could cause a fire or an explosion which can cause death, serious bodily injury or damage to property.
  • The burner must be replaced prior to the appliance being put into operation if it is evident that the burner is damaged. The replacement burner shall be that specified by the manufacturer.

Cylinder/Gas line connection

  1. Make 2″‘3oz. of leak detection solution (one part liquid dishwashing detergent and three parts water)
  2. Make sure Propane gas cylinder valve is closed and control knob is in the off” ” position.
  3. Connect propane gas cylinder per “Installing Propane Gas Cylinder”.
  4. Apply several drops of solution as illustration
  5. Turn propane gas cylinder valve to “OPEN”.

If any bubbles appear at any connection, there is a leak

  1. Turn off the gas cylinder, reconnect regulator/hose assembly, and re-test.
  2. If you continue to see the bubbles after several attempts, turn off the gas cylinder and disconnect gas cylinder, contact the service department for assistance.
  3. If no bubbles appear after one minute, the connections are secure. Turn off gas cylinder and wipe away solution and proceed.

LIGHTING INSTRUCTION

Before Lighting

WARNING

  • For outdoor use only.
  • Never light the burner with the cover on this appliance. Table lid must be removed when burner is in operation.
  • Keep your appliance free and clear from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids.
  1. Make sure all labels, package and protective films have been removed from this appliance.
  2. Check for obstructions of air flow to the burner. Spiders, insects and webs can clog the burner/venturi tube. A clogged burner tube can lead to a fire.
  3. Clean the ignition box area, make sure the rocks away from ignition box.
  4. Connect gas cylinder per “Installing Propane Gas Cylinder” section.

Lighting

  1. Turn the control knob to the OFF” ” position.
  2. Turn on the propane gas cylinder valve.
  3. Push and turn control knob counterclockwise to IGNITER” + “to light the burner. If needed, repeat 2-3 times.
  4. Once the fire pit lights, continue to press the control knob on LOW” “for 20seconds.
  5. Release and turn control knob counterclockwise to HIGH” “or desired flame height.
  6. After three attempts, if ignition does not occur, turn the control knob to OFF” “position.
  7. Wait 5 minutes, fan with a newspaper or magazine, and repeat lighting procedure.
  8. If ignitor does not light burner:
    • Wearing heat-resistant gloves, positon a lit long match or lit long butane lighter near the ignition box.
    • Push and turn control knob to LOW “ ” position.
    • Remove match/lighter once burner is lit.
  9. Continue to hold the control knob on LOW “ ” for 20 seconds.
  10. After lighting, observe the burner, make sure all burner port are lit and flame height matches illustration.

CAUTION

  • If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds or after three attempts, turn control knob to “OFF”position, wait 5 minutes, fan with a newspaper or magazine, and repeat lighting procedure.

WARNING

  • Certain areas of this outdoor firepit when in use will become too hot to touch. To avoid bums, do NOT touch hot surface until the appliance has completely cooled (about 45Min).
  • Do not attempt to move this appliance when in use. Allow the appliance to cool completely (about 45 Minutes) before moving or storing.
  • Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should stay away to avoid bums or clothing ignition.
  • Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the area of the appliance.

Turning OFF

  1. Turn off propane gas cylinder.
  2. Turn control knob to the “OFF” position.
    • Note: A “poof” sound is normal as the last of the propane is burned.
  3. Disconnect propane gas cylinder per “Disconnecting Propane gas Cylinder” section.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

CAUTION

  • Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least once a year by a qualified service person.
  • All care and maintenance should be done when fire pit is cool and with the propane gas cylinder is disconnected.
  • DO NOT clean any fire pit part(s) in a self-cleaning oven. The extreme heat will damage the finish.

Notices

  • This outdoor fire pit should be thoroughly cleaned and inspected on a regular basis.
  • Abrasive cleaners will damage this product.
  • Never use oven cleaner to clean any part of this outdoor fire pit.

Before Each Use

  1. Keep the outdoor fire pit area free from any combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.
  2. DO NOT obstruct the flow of the combustion of propane gas and the ventilation of air.
  3. Keep the ventilation opening(s) of the propane gas cylinder area free and clean from debris.
  4. Check all gas connections for leaks.
  5. Check components for any signs of damage or rust.
  6. If damage to any components is detected, DO NOT operate until repairs are completed.
  7. Visually check the burner flame to make sure your outdoor fire pit is working properly.

Cleaning Surfaces

  1. Wipe surfaces clean with mild dishwashing detergent or baking soda mixed with water.
  2. For stubborn stains, use a citrus-based cleaner and nylon scrubbing brush.
  3. Rinse clean with water.
  4. Allow to air dry.

Cleaning Burner

  1. Remove the rocks from fire bowl.
  2. Remove all dirt/dust from the burner, ignition box and venturi area with a small brush and or compressed air.
  3. Visually inspect the burner for any rust or damage. If damage is found, replace necessary parts with new from manufacturer.
  4. Clean any clogged burner ports with a stiff wire (such as an opened paper clip).
  5. Carefully replace the rocks, follow the instruction at “Assembly instruction: Place rocks”

WARNING

  • Any guard, barrier, or other protective device removed for servicing the appliance shall be replaced prior to operating the appliance.
  • DO NOT enlarge valve orifice or burner ports when cleaning the valve and burner.

Before Storing

  1. Turn off propane gas cylinder.
  2. Turn control knob to “OFF” position.
  3. Disconnection propane gas cylinder per “Disconnecting propane gas cylinder” section.
  4. Storage of this outdoor fire pit indoor is permissible only if the gas cylinder is disconnected, removed from the appliance and properly stored outdoors.
  5. If storing this outdoor fire pit outdoors, cover the outdoor fire pit with a cover for protection from the weather.
