Mounting instructions

Step 1 Find the right spot!

  • Before mounting the Go Moto mount to your helmet, we strongly advise you to find the optimal placement on your helmet. To do this, you can refer to the product photos on our website for the chin mount and use them as a guide. It is important to note that you should not remove the 3M protective film during this process.
  • Carefully adjust the mount until all sides align seamlessly with your helmet. This will ensure the best fit and security for your camera.

Step 2 Clean the mounting surface

  • If your helmet is really dirty, it is recommended to clean it with soapy water first.
  • Clean the mounting surface on your helmet with the provided 3M VHB Surface Cleaner.
  • This will ensure a strong bond between the 3M VHB adhesive and your helmet.
  • After cleaning the surface, allow it to air dry for approximately one minute.

Step 3 Prepare for mounting!

  • Gently peel off the protective film from the 3M VHB adhesive.
  • To optimize adhesion we recommend warming up the 3M VHB adhesive (NOT HOT!) with a hair dryer.

Step 4 Placing the mount

  • Carefully line up the mount with your helmet (remember step 1). Avoid applying pressure until you are confident that the placement is just right. When you think the mount is on the right spot, press down firmly and hold for at least one minute with consistent pressure.
  • Potential gaps may be present between the 3M adhesive and the helmet. This could be due to misplacement or not applying enough pressure. You may want to warm up and
  • press the chin mount again. Alternatively, you can use a credit card to gently press the edges of the 3M adhesive against the helmet, removing any gaps.

Step 5 Waiting

  • You mounted your Go Moto mount?! Well done! Just a little patience…
  • Before using your Go Moto Mount, we recommend not using it for at least 24 hours to let the adhesive properly cure.
  • The optimal waiting time for the 3M VHB adhesive to settle is 72 hours. We’d love to see your results! Share your Go Moto mount on Instagram or Facebook with gomotomounts!

Mounting action camera

  • You can mount an action camera mount using a compatible mounting buckle. This will be universal for different brands including GoPro Hero/Session, Insta360ONE R, DJI Osmo Action, Xiaomi Yi 4Kand more.
  • Carefully align the buckle with the mount and push it firmly into place until you hear a clicking sound. This will ensure that the camera is securely attached to the mount and will not come loose during use.

Adjusting camera angle

Using an extension arm with your camera mount can provide additional adjustability and flexibility for achieving the perfect camera angle. By attaching the extension arm between the mount and your camera, you can easily adjust the angle, height, and distance of the camera to capture the perfect shot.

Removing the mount

Step 1 Weakening the adhesive

  • Removing the mount from your helmet can be a challenging task, but it is important to do it correctly to avoid causing any damage to your helmet or the Go Moto mount. Here are some tips that can make the process easier and smoother:
  • We strongly recommend using a hair dryer to warm up the sides of the mount. This will help to loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove the mount from your helmet.
  • To avoid scratching your helmet, we advise using a soft and flat object, such as an old credit card, to remove the mount. Carefully push the credit card between the mount and the adhesive, starting from the corners, until it starts coming loose.

Step 2 Twisting the mount

When the corners of the adhesive are released, try twisting the Go Moto mount (you can attach something to the mount to get more grip). It is important to take your time during the removal process to ensure that the mount and the adhesive come off cleanly and without causing any damage. If you encounter any resistance, stop immediately and reapply heat to the area before trying again. By twisting the mount it should release from your helmet without causing any damage.

WARNING

  • Only use the correct Go Moto mount for the intended helmet.
  • Always clean your helmet with the original 3M VHB surface cleaner before mounting the Go Moto mount.
  • The 3M VHB adhesive may not stick properly without using the 3M VHB cleaner.
  • Only use the original 3M VHB 4991 F adhesive for the Go Moto mount. Any other adhesives may fail to hold.
  • Always check your action camera is properly mounted before riding.
  • Go Moto is not responsible for any damage caused by improper installation.
  • Be careful when using the mount in high temperatures. At temperatures above 40 degrees, the adhesive can weaken. Keep the mount out of the sun at high temperatures.

DANGER. 3M VHB surface cleaner
