OSKA SeriesC Air Cushion System

The system

OSKA SeriesC Air is a cushion system which is designed to be placed on any chair. It is designed for use in nursing care at home, or in a nursing facility environment.
Application – for use on a chair within home or care environment with power source nearby to ensure that comfort and relief levels are maintained.
The system consists of a control unit featuring a membrane pump and a cushion with 6 air cells  arranged in a transverse manner. The entire cell unit is encased in a cradle of visco foam. The bielastic top cover and PVC outer base cover,  ensure stability, comfort and infection control.

Recommendations
OSKA SeriesC Air alternating cushion system is suitable as an aid in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers up to and including category 2.

Capacity
OSKA SeriesC Air alternating cushion system is recommended for patient weight up to 130kg.  Heavier patients are better accommodated with a  more appropriate OSKA pressure system.

System set-up

  1. Place the pump on horizontal surface or hang by means of the hooks.

  2.  Place the seat cushion on the chair air tubes should be at the rear of the chair unless there are no openings at the rear of the chairPlease ensure that the cushion is fully stable
    on the chair.

  3. Connect air feed tubes to air outlet on the  seat cushion (see 1a) and pump (see 1b),  ensuring that the tubes are not twisted or “kinked”. Allow space for tubes to drop
    freely.

  4.  Switch on the pump power (see 2).  The power switch indicator should now illuminate, and the pump will start to inflate  the cushion.

  5. The low pressure indicator (see 3) will  illuminate as inflation takes place.

  6. The audible alarm won’t alarm within 60  minutes but will be activated if the pressure remains low inside the cushion. In the case of low pressure check the connections and the  products. Press the alarm reset button (see  4) to mute the audible alarm, its indicator willflash.

Operation

  1. When the pressure reaches full inflation  (within approximately 5 minutes) the normalpressure indicator will illuminate and the low pressure indicator will turn off.
  2. Turn the pressure dial (see 5) to set a  comfortable pressure level from 40kg-130kgaccording to the approximate weight of thepatient.
  3. Press the static button to activate static  mode. The static indicator will illuminate. Static mode will commence in approximatel5 minutes. Press the static button again to
    switch back to alternating mode.

System maintenance

Maintenance at regular intervals (mandatory every  2 years) is necessary to preserve the function of  the OSKA SeriesC Air alternating cushion system. 40kg-130kg Used filters must be exchanged within this period.

  • Replace membrane unit
  • Replace air filter
  • Replace synchronous motor
  • Conduct function test/function check
  • Sealing of case and attaching an inspector sticker
  • Protective conductor check in accordance  with DIN VDE 0751

Cleaning

Remove dirt or stains with lukewarm water and acloth. Water may be treated with a mild cleaning agent. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents. You must disinfect surfaces regularly,  at least after every clean. Wipe disinfection is preferred. The cleaning agent you use must complwith the manufacturers information as stated on the cleaning agent. If in doubt you must request further information.

Waste disposal

The materials used to manufacture the OSKA SeriesC Air cushion do not cause any danger to the environment. They may be disposed of with the household waste.
The pump control unit is considered as electrical equipment waste. Please contact the proper waste disposal officials.

WARNING!
For private non-professional operators. In the case of system failure please check:

  1.  Is there sufficient power supply?
  2.  Is the unit turned on?
  3.  Is the power cord connected properly  and is the power plug inserted correctly?
  4.  Is the mattress connection tube  connected properly?

If all these primary checks have been carried  out and the system continues not to function then you must contact the responsible supplier or user who is authorised to effect the maintenance and/or repair of this equipment.
Never attempt to repair the system yourself.  Fuses may only be exchanged by qualified  and authorised personnel.NING! For private non-professional operators.

Warranty

Your OSKA product comes with a 1 year parts and labour warranty.
The warranty is based on statutory regulations.
The warranty does not apply if the goods supplied by OSKA are processed, handled or modified by  other parties without prior consent from OSKA or if these operating instructions are not followed.
For medical devices as understood by the EU –  Directive 93/94, whose usage (also operations)  is subject to regular service and maintenance,  a warranty can be offered only if the service intervals prescribed by OSKA are adhered to.
If during inspection it is found that damages are due to wear and tear or are not subject to  warranty, then OSKA are empowered to claim the  expenses (inspection, transport costs etc) from  the client.
The use of parts or individual components of other systems or products or combinations thereof are not permissible.
Warranty claims become invalid should any damage result from this kind of conduct and  therefore remain the responsibility of the user/ owner.

For your safety and the safety of those around you, please adhere to all safety and warning as detailed in this manual.
WARNING!
You MUST be aware of the susceptibility of  this air mattress to the incidence of fire. In  the case of a fire the unavoidable release of  air acts as a fan effect to assist the flames.
You must avoid smoking at all times in the  immediate vicinity of this product. Other hazards can include: The use of petroleum  based creams and gels such as Vaseline etc.
The manufacturer of this product takes no  responsibility for actions that are in breach of this fire hazard warning which includes  all environments: Hospitals, care homes and  private/domestic users.
