IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS TRACTOR CART
When using this tractor cart, basic safety precautions should always be followed:
WARNING: When the tractor cart is connected to, or being towed by, a tractor or lawnmower (hereafter referred to as “towing vehicle”), follow all the towing vehicle manufacturer’s safety and operating instructions related to the towing vehicle and to the towing operation for a conveyance such as a tractor cart.
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and safety instructions may result in serious injury. All safety precautions should be followed to reduce risk of personal injury or property damage, including but not limited to the following:

  • This tractor cart is intended for use as a lawn and garden utility cart. Use only as intended. Use only the parts provided to assemble the tractor cart.

  • Maintain control of the tractor cart, and any towing vehicle if connected to the tractor cart, at all times.

  • Do not allow the tractor cart to carry human or animal passengers. Keep children, bystanders, and animals away from the work area when using the tractor cart.

  • Stay alert. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all body parts away from openings and moving parts, whether the tractor cart is stationary or in motion.
Use common sense. Be aware of surroundings.

  • Do not exceed the braking capability of the towing vehicle. The weight of the load in the tractor cart, or a shift in the load, could affect the braking capability and/or the stability of the towing vehicle.

  • Do not exceed the tractor cart maximum towing speed of 5 mph (8 km/h), or the towing vehicle’s maximum towing speed, whichever is lower.

  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 800 lbs (363 kg) when towing (or the towing vehicle’s maximum load capacity, whichever is lower), 350 lbs (159 kg) when using swivel feature, or 150 lbs (68 kg) when using wheelbarrow feature.

  • Do not exceed the tractor cart tire maximum inflation printed on the side of the tire.

  • Do not use the tractor cart on the highway or on other regulated roadways.

  • Do not use the tractor cart on a steep slope or incline, or on a grade greater than 10°.

  • Do not use the tractor cart if it is showing signs of malfunction in any way, if the tractor cart is not working correctly, has been damaged, or has experienced physical impact.

  • Avoid exposing the tractor cart to flammable or corrosive materials. Do not burn materials in the tractor cart bed or expose the tractor cart to burning materials or damaging chemicals.

  • Maintain the tractor cart with care. Follow instructions for proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage.

  • Store when not in use. Follow recommended storage instructions when not in use.

Additional Safety Instructions

WARNING: ALWAYS use safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE) during assembly, use, cleaning, or maintenance activities.
Everyday eyeglasses are NOT safety glasses. ALWAYS WEAR CERTIFIED SAFETY EQUIPMENT (ANSI Z87.1 eye protection (CAN/CSA Z94.3)).
CAUTION: Before performing any cleaning or maintenance activities, ensure the tractor cart is detached from any towing vehicle. Ensure the tractor cart is on level ground and immobilized. Do not attempt to clean or perform maintenance to the tractor cart while it is in motion.

OPERATION

After the tractor cart assembly is complete, consult the towing vehicle manufacturer’s instructions to connect or hitch the tractor cart to the towing vehicle.

When loading material in the tractor cart:

  • Place heavier items in the bottom of the tractor cart, and toward the front (closer to the towing vehicle and cart tongue).
  • Place lighter, smaller items near the rear and on top.
  • Secure loose material in the tractor cart.
If backing up the tractor cart while attached to a towing vehicle, reduce speed and braking to avoid jackknifing the tractor cart.

Tow Cart

  1. To convert the cart from push to tow: (See figure 13 on page 6.)
    a. Remove the 3/8 in. x 3 in. clevis pin (U) and hairpin cotter (X) from the front tongue.
    b. Pivot the front tongue outward and secure it in the towing position using the 3/8 in. x 3 in. clevis pin (U) and hairpin cotter (X).

  2. Refer to the vehicle owners manual for instructions on safe operation on slopes.

  3. Always test to make sure your tractor has adequate towing and braking capabilities whenever hauling a substantial amount of weight in your cart. Use extra caution when
    operating on slopes.
    WARNING:
Do Not Exceed 300 lb (136 kg) weight capacity of cart. One cubic foot of dirt weighs approximately 80 lbs (36 kg).
    CAUTION:
Vehicle braking and stability may be affected with the addition of an accessory or an attachment. Be aware of changing conditions on slopes.

  4. For best handling and traction, distribute the weight of the load evenly in the cart.

  5. To dump material from the cart, remove the 1-3/4 in. long clevis pin (T) from the latch on the tongue and release the latch. The cart bed will then tilt backwards to empty its contents. After emptying, pull the front of the bed down toward the cart tongue until the latch snaps into place.
Reinstall the clevis pin in the latch to prevent accidental release of the latch.

  6. The maximum towing speed for this cart is 5 mph (8 km/h).

Push Cart
WARNING:
Leave the clevis pin in the latch lock at all times while using the cart as a push cart.

  1. To convert the cart from tow to push: (See figure 13 on page 6)
    a. Remove the 3/8 in. x 3 in. clevis pin (U) and hairpin cotter (X) from the front tongue.
    b. Pivot the front tongue into the storage position underneath the rear tongue and secure it using the 3/8 in. x 3 in. clevis pin (U) and hairpin cotter (X).

  2. For best handling and to help prevent accidental tipping, distribute the weight of the load evenly in the cart.

  3. Do not load more than you can handle and control comfortably (no more than150 lbs (68 kg)).

  4. To dump material from the push cart, lift up on the handle and tilt the cart forward. Be sure that the latch mechanism on the tongue is locked and secured with the clevis pin to prevent accidental release of the latch.

CLEANING

NOTICE:
Never use solvents or other harsh chemicals to clean the tractor cart. These chemicals may weaken the component materials.
Wipe down exposed components, including the bed interior, after use and/or before storage. Use a cloth dampened only with water and mild soap.

STORAGE

Store the tractor cart in a dry location out of direct sunlight and away from any sources of moisture.

MAINTENANCE

Use a bicycle or similar hand pump to maintain the tire pressure printed on the side of the tire.
WARNING: Do not exceed the tractor cart tire maximum inflation printed on the side of the tire.
