PSM Temporary Steel Hoarding
- Temporary Steel Hoarding is an economical fencing system that combines the privacy and protection benefits of timber hoarding with the rapid erection and versatile benefits of temporary mesh fencing.
- The system can be offered in a basic galvanised finish or in a polyester powder coated colour to match a corporate image.
- The panels can be rapidly assembled around a construction hazard, however, care does need to be taken to ensure the panels are stabilised correctly. This erecting guide will demonstrate how to assemble the basic components and illustrate the variety of options available for fixing and stabilising the panels
MANUAL HANDLING
- Please ensure you are familiar with the individual weight of each component before attempting to lift, carry or handle these products. We would recommend the use of
purpose built stillages for movement of the products from site to site to minimise the risk of injury or damage. Safety gloves and hard hats should be worn at all times.
ERECTION GUIDE
- The erecting process varies slightly for each individual stabilising method, however the basic erection principal is noted below:
- STEP ONE Position the fence bases along the fence line at 2.2mtr intervals, ensuring at all times that the bases are sitting on an even level surface.
- STEP TWO Lift the first fence panel into position by inserting the legs of the fence panel into the central locating holes in the fence base.
- STEP THREE Insert the remaining panels along the fence line as noted in step 2 until the fence line is complete.
- STEP FOUR An Anti-Lift device should then be inserted underneath the fence base then attached to the fencing panel by means of a Heavy Duty Hoarding Coupler.
- STEP FIVE A further Heavy duty fencing couple should then be installed approximately 300mm down from the top of each panel joint, this should be left loose until the stabiliser is attached.
- STEP SIX Remove the nut from the top Heavy Duty Hoarding Coupler and locate in place a Hoarding Stabiliser. Replace the nut on the hoarding coupler and tighten to fix stabiliser in position. Attach base plate or block tray then fix to the ground or load with the required amount of ballast depending on site conditions or wind loadings.
For the erection and dismantling of a basic hoarding system:
- Basic Tools: 7/16 (20mm) spanner, Spirit level, Spacing gauge or tape measure.
- Safety Clothing : Hard hat, Safety footwear, Gloves and overalls should always be worn when erecting hoarding systems.
- High Winds : Hoarding systems should never be erected in high winds. Due consideration should be taken when erecting hoarding systems in exposed location.
HOARDING ACCESSORIES
- Infil Sheets The infill sheet is attached to the adjoining panels with 2 Heavy Duty Hoarding Coupler and bridges the gap between panels to ensure total privacy
- Ground Skirt The Ground skirt hooks over the inside edge of the channel at the foot of the panel and is fixed to the panel by means of a rivet or screw. The ground skirt deters opportunists gaining access under the fence.
- Block Retaining Strap The block retaining strap can be fixed over the front block and fixed to the ground my means of mechanical anchors for extra stability.
Vehicle & Pedestrian Gates Gates can be installed at any position around the fence line to gain vehicle or pedestrian access. Extension Panels A mesh extension panel can be installed on top of the hoarding panel to gain extra height for added security.
STABILISING OPTIONS
- Hoarding stabiliser with Base Plate The base plate is bolted to the base of the hoarding stabiliser then the plate should be mechanically anchored into concrete with a minimum strength of C20.
- Hoarding Stabiliser with Block Tray The block tray is once again bolted to the base of the Hoarding stabiliser, and then the tray is loaded with ballast to a weight of 128kg (4 x 32kg concrete feet)
- HD Hoarding Stabiliser Complete With Front & Rear Block Trays (Anti-Lift device not required for this option) The front block trays should be installed as per step one of the assembly guide, then the HD Stabiliser Frame should be attached to the front block tray and adjoining panels by means of two Heavy Duty Hoarding Couplers. At the base of the stabiliser a rear block tray should be installed as in option two. 128kg of ballast should be installed to the rear block tray and 64 kg to the front block tray.
- Scaffold 2 Hoard Coupler When space is the limiting factor the scaffold 2 hoard stabiliser is the ideal solution. Scaffolding tubes can be concreted or inserted into predrilled holes at 1mtr intervals, and then fence panels can be attached to scaffolding tubes by using two scaffold 2 hoard couplers on each tube.
