Learn more about your Mühle watch
Mühle watches are time measuring instruments. That is why they focus on the essential function of a watch: precisely measuring time and displaying it at a glance. The various time information you can obtain from your watch can be found by folding out the cover on page 3.
Displays (also see page 3)
a) Hour hand
b) Minute hand
c) Second hand
d) Display of date and weekday
(depending upon the model)
Your Mühle watch is equipped with an automatic winding mechanism and is wound by activity when wearing the watch. Once fully wound, the watch has the power reserve listed in the technical specifications. That is the amount of time the fully-wound watch can be set aside without activity before it stops.
The full power reserve is reached if the watch is worn at least 12 hours a day at an average level of activity.
Alternatively, the watch can be wound by hand (also see page 20). Depending upon the model, 20 to 25 turns of the rotating crown are necessary in order to build up the full power reserve. Mühle automatic watches are equipped with a slip coupling, i.e. they cannot be over-wound when winding by hand.
Initial use of the watch
Prior to initial use of the watch, you should wind the watch by hand. This ensures a sufficient power reserve for the watch to continue running precisely after the exact setting of the second hand. Here is how you wind your watch:
Turn the crown in the direction of 6 o’clock until it releases from the winding stem/thread. The crown is now in Position (1) , the winding position (also see page 3).
Turn the freely rotating crown 20 to 25 times clockwise or in the direction of
12 o’clock.
Now the date and time can be set.
In case the watch is only to be wound, push the crown gently in the direction
of the case, thereby turning it in the direction of 12 o’clock, in order to
screw the crown back into the case until hand-tight. Only then is the water
resistance of the watch preserved.
Setting the date and time
In order to prevent damage to the movement, the hands should generally only be adjusted clockwise. Here is how you set the clock:
Wind the watch as described on page 20. Attention: Afterwards, do not screw the screw-in crown into the case.
Pull the crown into Position (3) (second lock-in position).
Turn the hand clockwise until the date changes, and set the time to 4:05 AM.
Press the crown back into Position (1) , then pull it back into Position (2)
(first lock-in position).
Set the date by turning the crown in the direction of 12 o’clock until the
current date is displayed. If there is a weekday display, it is set by turning
the crown in the direction of 6 o’clock.
Pull the crown into Position (3) . (The second hand stops and enables a
precise setting down to the second. Pull the crown once the second hand has
reached the index at 60 seconds or 12 o’clock. This enables the minute hand to
be set precisely to an index.)
Depending upon the 12-hour interval, now the current time can be set (in doing
so, for afternoons, the hour hand must be adjusted once beyond 12 o’clock). To
adjust this setting, turn the hand clockwise until the current time is
indicated.
Press the crown into Position (1) and screw the crown back into the case until
hand-tight (also see page 21).
The water resistance of your watch
The water resistance of your watch has been inspected according to German DIN standard 8310 at the overpressure indicated on the case back. Prior to use in water, check whether the crown is in Position (0) , i.e. screwed into the winding stem of the case until hand-tight! Only then is the water resistance of the watch preserved.
Attention! The water resistance ratings apply to brand-new watches. Over time, the water resistance of a particular watch may become impaired due to shocks and knocks, in case of chemical reactions due to petrol, adhesive, paint, cleaning spray etc., as well as frequent turning of the crown (abrasion).
Above all, only watches that are actually water resistant at the rated compressive strength are suitable for swimming and diving.
We recommend that you have the water-resistant quality of your watch checked every 2 years (or annually in case of frequent use in water).
Recommendations for use in water:
Permitted activities at a pressure (bar/atm) of: | 5 | 10 | 30+ |
---|---|---|---|
Washing your hands, splashes | |||
Swimming, showers and baths | |||
Snorkelling and diving |
Preserve the value of your watch
To ensure that your watch from Glashütte will always remain your trusted companion, we ask that you observe a few instructions. Your watch will not only thank you for regular care by preserving its optimal value, this will also ensure its flawless function over the long-term.
Where possible, protect your watch from extreme shocks and magnetic fields
(e.g. do not set your watch down on electrical devices).
The movement of a mechanical watch should be regularly serviced. We recommend
having an inspection performed every 4-5 years.
Have the water-resistant quality of the watch checked every 2 years (or
annually in case of frequent use in water).
Please refer to the SERVICE BOOKLET for wristwatches and the service area on our website for further instructions on careful use of your watch.
