INSTRUCTIONS
- Before using the Outside Micrometer, clean the measuring faces with dry and clean cloth (or soaked with Cleaning oil). No organic solutions are allowed.
- Zero setting: Rotate the ratchet to make the two measuring faces touch each other (please use the attached calibration rod if the measuring range is not 0-25mm or 0-1″). When you hear the ratchet “click”, check the Outside Micrometer to see if the “0” on the movable thimble points to “0” on the fixed thimble. If not, use a spanner to adjust the zero position.
- When measuring, rotate the ratchet to make the two measuring faces touch the workpiece to be measured. After you have heard the ratchet “click”, it’s ready to read the measured value.
- Reading Method: The resolution of the Outside Micrometer times the measure that the movable thimble points, then plus the number on the fixed thimble at the left side of the movable thimble, that is the measured value.
- It’s not allowed to rotate the ratchet with too much strength. And it’s not allowed to rotate the movable thimble directly to make measurement.
- Measurement should be made in static state.
- During measurement, the central line of the measuring spindle should be the same as the length direction of the workpiece to be measured.
