Product Information: IQ Quick Reference Guide for ECG

The IQ Quick Reference Guide is a user manual that provides step-by-step instructions for conducting an ECG test using the IQecgTM system. The guide is designed to assist healthcare professionals in preparing patients for the test, adhering electrodes, and analyzing ECG tracings. The IQecgTM system is a medical device that records electrical activity of the heart to diagnose heart conditions.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Select “New Patient” and enter patient demographics and vitals.
    Ensure that the patient’s date of birth and sex are correct.

  2. Prepare the patient for the test by following these steps:

  3. If necessary, shave hair from electrode sites. Refer to the opposite side of the card for proper placement.

  4. Rub the skin with alcohol wipes and let it air dry.

  5. Adhere electrodes on the patient.

  6. Attach the ECG clips from the patient cable to the electrodes according to color coding.

  7. Instruct the patient to relax in a supine position.

  8. Select “New Test” button.

  9. Select “ECG” button. Enter Technician, Physician, and Indication. Choose appropriate ECG Lead Group. Select “OK”.

  10. Wait for ECG tracings to pass twice (~20 seconds) and their baselines are stabilized. Select “Analyze” button. (ECG will be saved.)

  11. Select “Review” button. Select “Exit” or select “Print” and then “Exit”.

The electrode placement for limb leads is as follows:

The standard 12-Lead Placement (Precordial) is shown in the diagram. For modified 12-Lead Placement (Precordial), refer to the  IQecgTM Operation Manual Version 8.6.

IQecg® 12-Lead Resting ECG

  1. In IQmanagerTM – Select a patient from Patient List – or  select new Patient and enter demographics and vitals. (Patient’s date of birth and sex must be correct.)
  2. Prepare the patient for the test. NOTE: Proper patient preparation is essential for minimized artifact, a clean ECG and accurate results.
    • Shave hair (if necessary) from electrode sites. (Refer to opposite side of this card for proper placement)
    • Rub skin with alcohol wipes. Let air dry.
  3. Adhere electrodes on the patient.
  4. Attach the ECG clips from the patient cable to the electrodes according to color coding.
  5. Instruct the patient to relax in a supine position.
  6. Select New Test button.
  7. Select ECG button. Enter Technician, Physician, and Indication. Choose appropriate ECG Lead Group. Select OK.
  8. Wait for ECG tracings to pass twice (~20 seconds) and their baselines are stabilized. Select Analyze button. (ECG will be saved.)

MIDMARK-IQecg-12-Lead-Resting -ECG -01 Limb lead placement

  • RL (White/White) – Right lateral side of the upper arm below the shoulder.
  • LA (Black/White) – Left lateral side of the upper arm below the shoulder.
  • RL (Green/White) – Inside calf, midway between knee and ankle.
  • LL (Red/White) – Inside calf, midway between knee and ankle.

Standard 12-Lead Placement (Precordial)

  1. V1 (Red/Brown) – Fourth intercostal place at the right margin of the sternum.
  2. V2 (Yellow/Brown) – Fourth intercostal place at the left margin of the sternum.
  3. V3 (Green/Brown) – Midway between V2 and V4 (on top of the 5th rib).
  4. V4 (Blue/Brown) – Fifth intercostal place at the left midclavicular line.
  5. V5 (Orange/Brown) – At the horizontal level of V4, at the left anterior line.
  6. V6 (Purple/Brown) – At the horizontal level of V4, at the midaxillary line.
