Installation Instructions

General Introduction
The IP Camera is designed to monitor the premise where it is installed at in real time, and send the images to the Gateway. The recording function will be activated if an event is triggered under warning conditions. Its great compatibility with our VIAS security products makes it suitable for IP based platform.

Connecting the camera to internet
The camera first needs to connect to your home router. Please connect the cameras and panel in the same network.

Cable connection:

  1. Connect the cable from your home router to the Ethernet port of the camera.
  2. Wait till the LED indicator turns on steady blue.

Add IP Cameras on VIAS APP
VIAS can add any ONVIF compatible camera without complex settings. There are two methods to add a camera:

Automatic method: detects camera when camera is plugged in.

  1. Do not plug in the camera yet.

  2. On the App dashboard, there are four camera channels on the surveillance part of Dashboard. Enter “View All”-Surveillance View page select settings icon to enable the Auto search of camera.

  3. Plug in the camera.

  4. Return to Dashboard. A snapshot preview from the camera will appear in one of the channels. The camera has been added.

Manual method 1: search and add camera

  1. Go to Surveillance View and choose icon to search for cameras in network

  2. From the search result, select the desired camera to add.
    Note: If no cameras are found, press the “+” on the search page to insert a camera manually.

  3. In the channel setup page, enter the camera’s login username and password (default is admin/admin).

On this page, the user can choose to enable/disable, name the camera, set IP address (if camera was not found after search), assign the room, enable motion detect and other settings.

Operation

Live video

  1. To watch live view of the camera, go to Dashboard to see a snapshot preview. Press one of connected camera.

  2. Pan&Tilt control: For PTZ type cameras, there are six preset buttons to store set desired view positions.

    • Press and hold buttons 1-6 buttons for 3 seconds to store new memory
    • Press once to move to preset position
  3. Digital Zoom: When in Full screen mode, double-tap on the image to zoom in. Double-tap again to exit.

Playback recorded videos
If an SSD or harddrive is installed in VIAS gateway, it will automatically start 24/7 continuous recording of all camera channels.

  1. Choose calendar icon in live view or Surveillance View page to enter video playback pages.

  2. The playback lists are displayed according to sequence of recording date and time. Each clip plays for 15mins.

  3. There are two modes on display; one is by monthly calendar, the other is to view the latest playback on the top.

  4. During playback, it is possible to move forward and back by dragging the time bar, change volume level, and display in full screen.

  5. To view playback lists from specific camera channel, select filter icon at the top.

Note: The number of days of recorded video will depend on storage size, image
resolution and number of camera channels.
For a good balance of storage vs. resolution, it is recommended to set camera resolution to 720P (HD) at bitrate of 768kbps. At this resolution, using a 500GB storage will maintain a continuous rolling recording of around 10 days.

Setting up WiFi requires access to the camera’s internal web setting

  1. Locate the camera’s IP address

  2. Login using default username/password; admin/admin

  3. Click “Config” on the top right corner and select Wireless.

  4. Go to the WiFi settings tab.

  5. Click on Scan and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.

  6. Unplug the Ethernet cable and the camera will attempt to connect using WiFi setting.

Mounting the camera

The camera can be placed on table top, mounted on a wall or ceiling. When mounting on a wall or ceiling, use the supplied screw and wall plugs to secure the camera in place. Select the appropriate location for the camera:

  • Place the camera at least 1m away from surrounding metalwork which can affect its Wi-Fi transmission.
  • Do not install the device near fire or heat sources to avoid damage.
  • Do not install the device at humid places or exposed to rain.

Note: It is normal if the camera appears warm during operation

Troubleshooting

Reset to factory default
The camera needs to be reset to factory default before it can connect to a new Wi-Fi network.

  1. Using a sharp object, press and hold the reset button next to the Ethernet port behind the camera for more than 10 seconds then release

  2. The camera will restart itself and the LED will start blinking in orange.
