VIAS ST820 Temperature Humidity Sensor
Thank you for purchasing the ST820 Temperature/Humidity Sensor. This product provides accurate temperature and humidity readings for your convenience. Please read the following information and instructions carefully before using the sensor.
Overview and Accessories
- 1. Sensor Ventilation Openings
- 2. LED Indicator
- 3. Battery Compartment Cover
- 4. Learn Button
- 5. AAA Battery x3
- 6. Double-sided Tape
- 7. Wall Plug/Screw Anchor x2
- 8. Screw x2
Safety Precautions
Please ensure that the sensor is not placed near any potential fire hazards, radiators, boilers, or any other heat sources.
Loading Batteries
- Slide the battery compartment cover downward to open it.
- Insert 3 AAA 1.5V batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring the correct polarity.
- Replace the cover by sliding it back into the groove and clicking it into place.
Learning ID Code
To fully control the unit, you need to complete the auto-binding and/or ID code learning process. Follow these steps:
- Log into the VIAS account from the APP and enter the gateway to the main control page.
- Choose the menu list > System Setup > ADD DEVICE. Follow the instruction wizard on the APP to complete the process.
- Press and hold the learn button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes moderately (on for 0.5 seconds; off for 0.5 seconds). A 30-second countdown will start.
- If the Temperature/Humidity Sensor learns the ID code properly, the LED indicator will be on for 0.5 seconds and then turn off.
- If the LED flashes rapidly (on for 0.1 seconds; off for 0.1 seconds) for 3 times, it can be attributed to one of the following conditions:
- a. The Temperature/Humidity Sensor failed to learn the ID code.
- b. After the unit enters the 30-second code learning countdown, the user presses the learn button again to exit the ID code learning mode.
Note:
-
1. To fully control the unit, the auto-binding and/or ID code learning process must be completed.
- The ID code setting is stored in non-volatile memory and is not lost during the power-off period.
- Only one Master Device ID can be learned. The last learned Master Device ID code will overwrite the previous one.
Clearing ID Code
- Press and hold the learn button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes moderately. Release the button. The unit enters code learning mode and a 30-second countdown starts.
- Within the 30-second countdown, press and hold the learn button for more than 6 seconds to clear the stored Master Device ID code.
Installation
Note: Ensure that the sensor is installed within the transmission range of the device it needs to communicate with. The Temperature/Humidity Sensor can be installed on the wall using either the supplied double-sided tape or by hanging it on the screws:
- Using the double-sided tape:
- Peel one side of the tape and place the sticky side onto the back of the sensor.
- Peel the other side of the tape and attach the unit onto a proper location on the wall.
- Hanging on the screws:
- Mark the positions of two screws on the wall. The marks should be in vertical positions and the distance between the two marks should be 51mm.
- Drill holes using an appropriate size drill bit. Insert the supplied plastic wall plugs for a cement wall. For a wooden wall, the wall plugs are not needed.
- Turn the two screws into the wall (or wall plugs), leaving the heads protruding for about 2mm.
- Hang the sensor onto the screws.
TEMPERATURE/HUMIDITY SENSOR
These instructions should be read in conjunction with your System Installation and Operating Manual and be retained for future reference. The Temperature/Humidity Sensor is designed to monitor the current temperature and humidity of the ambient environment. The readings of temperature/humidity will be reported to the panel.(e.g. U-Net Gateway or Control Panel) on a regularbasis. The data can then be transmitted to the Server for further control of other appliances (such as HVAC devices). The Sensor incorporates one LED light for indicating device status such as ID learning results…etc. The unit is a transceiver which belongs to the member of U-Net series and is compatible with other U-Net enabled systems
Overview and Accessories
1. | Sensor Ventilation Openings | 5. | AAA Battery x3 |
---|---|---|---|
2. | LED Indicator | 6. | Double-sided Tape |
3. | Battery Compartment Cover | 7. | Wall Plug/Screw Anchor x2 |
4. | Learn Button | 8. | Screw x2 |
Safety Precautions
- Do not put the unit in humid or dusty places or facing direct sunlight.
- The suitable ambient temperature for the unit is -20°C – +60°C.
- Do not place the unit near combustible substances or any source of heat, e.g. fires, radiators, boilers etc.
Loading Batteries
Slide the battery compartment cover downward to open it. Fit 3 AAA 1.5V
batteries into the battery compartment. Note the polarity of batteries must
comply with the indication. Then replace the cover by sliding it back into the
groove and clicking into place.
Learning ID Code
- Log into the VIAS account from APP, and enter the gateway to the main control page. Choose the menu list>System Setup>ADD DEVICE. Please follow the instruction wizard on the APP to complete it.
- Press and hold the learn button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes moderately (on for 0.5 seconds; off for 0.5 seconds). A 30-second period countdown will start. The unit is ready to learn an ID code.
- If the Temperature/Humidity Sensor learns the ID code properly, the LED indicator will be on for 0.5 seconds and then turn off.
- If the LED flashes rapidly (on for 0.1 seconds; off for 0.1 seconds) 3 times, it can be ascribed to one of the following conditions:
- a. The Temperature/Humidity Sensor failed to learn the ID code.
- b. After the unit enters the 30-second code learning countdown, the user presses the learn button again to exit the ID code learning mode.
Note:
- To fully control the unit, the auto-binding and/or ID code learning process must be completed.
- The ID code setting is stored in non-volatile memory and is not lost during the power-off period.
- One Master Device ID can be learned. Only the last learned Master Device ID code will be stored (the last learned ID will overwrite the previous one).
Clearing ID Code
- Press and hold the learn button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes moderately. Release the button. The unit enters code learning mode and a 30-second countdown starts.
- Within the 30-second countdown, press and hold the learn button for more than 6 seconds. And the stored Master Device ID code will be cleared.
Installation
Note: Ensure the unit is installed within transmission range of the device that it needs to communicate with. The Temperature/Humidity Sensor can be installed on the wall either by using the supplied double-sided tape or by hanging on the screws:
- Using the double-sided tape: first peel one side of the tape and place the sticky side onto the back of the sensor. Then peel the other side of the tape and attach the unit onto a proper location on the wall.
- Hanging on the screws: first mark on the wall the positions of two screws. The marks should be in vertical positions and the distance between the two marks is 51mm. Drill the holes using an appropriate-size drill bit. Insert the supplied plastic wall plugs first for a cement wall. For a wooden wall the wall plugs would not be needed. Turn the two screws into the wall (or wall plugs), leaving the heads protruding for about 2mm. Then hang the sensor onto the screws.
Operation
- When the Temperature/Humidity Sensor is powered and the ID code learning is complete, the Sensor will start sending the data of its battery power, voltage, and the readings of ambient temperature/humidity to the panel after about 2 minutes. Afterwards the Sensor will send the data once every 30 minutes.
- If the increment or decrement of ambient temperature is greater than 2°C in 3 minutes, the Temperature/Humidity Sensor will report the data to the panel.
- When Low Battery condition occurs, the Temperature/Humidity Sensor will inform the panel of the situation. The LED light will also flash on regular basis to indicate Low Battery condition.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Cause of Failure | Recommendation |
---|
The unit is not working and LED is off when pressing the learn button.
| ****
1. The batteries are not fitted properly or run out of power.
2. The unit is out of order.
| 1. Check if battery installation is correct, or replace old batteries with new ones.
