Ronin 4D Flex 4-Axis Cinema Camera

Product Information: DJI RONIN 4D FLEX

The DJI RONIN 4D FLEX is a device that enables the ZENMUSE X9 gimbal and camera to be used without being mounted on the main body of DJI Ronin 4D. It supports left and right-hand grip, high-bright main monitor, DJI RS focus motor (2022), and other accessories, providing more flexible and lightweight shooting methods. It consists of a gimbal connector module, a main body connector module, a high-bright main monitor, and a pan axis quick-lock.

Gimbal Connector Module (Figure A-1)

• Power Button: Press once to start/stop recording. Press and hold to power on/off Ronin 4D.
• Display Port: Used to connect the High-Bright Main Monitor.
• Gimbal Ring: For securing the gimbal with safety lock.
• Ronin 4D Hand Grip Adapter: For mounting Ronin 4D Left and Right Hand Grips. The Hand Grip Adapter can be detached by loosening the screw.
• CAN Ports (USB-C): For connecting Ronin 4D Left and Right Hand Grips, and DJI RS Focus Motor (2022).
• Cold Shoe: For mounting the High-Bright Main Monitor. The cold shoe can be detached, and the 1/4-20 screw holes can be used to mount other accessories.
• 1/4-20 Screw Hole: For mounting accessories such as a tripod or unipod.
• 3/8-16 Screw Hole: For mounting accessories such as a tripod or unipod.

Main Body Connector Module (Figure A-2)

The main body connector module is used to attach the gimbal connector module to the Ronin 4D main body.

High-Bright Main Monitor (Figure E)

The high-bright main monitor is used to display the footage from the ZENMUSE X9 camera. It can be attached to the cold shoe of the gimbal connector module.

Pan Axis Quick-Lock (Figure G)

The pan axis quick-lock is suitable to mount when using a tele lens mounted on devices such as a tripod (requires a third-party accessory).

Usage Instructions

1. Attaching the Gimbal Connector Module (Figure
   C): Make sure the safety lock of the Ronin 4D Flex is in the unlocked position. To attach the gimbal connector module, align the red marks of the gimbal connector module, gimbal ring, and the gimbal connector, insert the gimbal and rotate gimbal ring counter-clockwise. Toggle the safety lock to the locked position.

2. Attaching the Left and Right Hand Grip (Figure
   D): Make sure the lever of the left-hand grip is in the unlocked position. Insert the left-hand grip into the hand grip adapter on the gimbal connector module until it clicks, and then push the lever all the way down. Attach the right-hand grip following the same instructions.

3. Attaching the Main Body Connector Module (Figure
   B): To attach the main body connector module, align the red marks of the main body connector module and the gimbal connector of Ronin 4D, insert the connector module, and rotate clockwise until it clicks to indicate the main body connector module is locked. Tighten the gimbal ring.

4. Attaching the High-Bright Main Monitor (Figure
   E): Attach the high-bright main monitor to the cold shoe of the gimbal connector module and tighten the screw.

5. Connection (Figure F): Connect the main body module cable to the display port of Ronin 4D. Connect the high-bright main monitor cable to the display port of the gimbal connector module. Connect the adapter cables to the CAN ports (connected by default). Press and hold the power button of the Ronin 4D Flex to power on.

6. Using the Pan Axis Quick-Lock (Figure G):
   Mount the pan axis quick-lock when using a tele lens mounted on devices such as a tripod (requires a third-party accessory).

Introduction

The DJITM RONINTM 4D Flex enables the ZENMUSETM X9 gimbal and camera to be used without being mounted on the main body of DJI Ronin 4D. DJI Ronin Flex supports Left and Right Hand Grip, High-Bright Main Monitor, DJI RS Focus Motor (2022), and other accessories, providing more flexible and lightweight shooting methods.

Gimbal Connector Module (Figure A-1)

1. Power Button
   Press once to start/stop recording. Press and hold to power on/off Ronin 4D.

2. Display Port
   Used to connect the High-Bright Main Monitor.

3. Gimbal Ring (with Safety Lock)
   For securing the gimbal.

4. Ronin 4D Hand Grip Adapter
   For mounting Ronin 4D Left and Right Hand Grips. The Hand Grip Adapter can be detached by loosening the screw.

5. CAN Ports (USB-C)
   For connecting Ronin 4D Left and Right Hand Grips, and DJI RS Focus Motor (2022).

6. Cold Shoe
   For mounting the High-Bright Main Monitor. The cold shoe can be detached, and the 1/4″-20 screw holes can be used to mount other accessories.

7. 1/4″-20 Screw Hole
   For mounting accessories such as a tripod or unipod.

8. 3/8″-16 Screw Hole
   For mounting accessories such as a tripod or unipod.

Installation

Attaching the Main Body Connector Module (Figure B)
To attach the main body connector module, align the red marks of the main body connector module and the gimbal connector of Ronin 4D , insert the connector module, and rotate clockwise until it clicks to indicate the main body connector module is locked . Tighten the gimbal ring .

Attaching the Gimbal Connector Module (Figure C)
Make sure the safety lock of the Ronin 4D Flex is in the unlocked position . To attach the gimbal connector module, align the red marks of the gimbal connector module, gimbal ring, and the gimbal connector, insert the gimbal and rotate gimbal ring counter-clockwise . Toggle the safety lock to the locked position .

Attaching the Left and Right Hand Grip (Figure D)
Make sure the lever of the left hand grip is in the unlocked position . Insert the left hand grip into the hand grip adapter on the gimbal connector module until it clicks, and then push the lever all the way down . Attach the right hand grip following the same instructions.

• Make sure the hand grips are firmly mounted.

Attaching the High-Bright Main Monitor (Figure E)
Attach the high-bright main monitor to the cold shoe of the gimbal connector module and tighten the screw.

• It is recommended to mount the DJI RS Extended Grip/Tripod for stability. Visit DJI Store for more information.

Connection (Figure F)

1. Connect the main body module cable to the display port of Ronin 4D .
2. Connect the high-bright main monitor cable to the display port of the gimbal connector module .
3. Connect the adapter cables to the CAN ports (connected by default) .

Press and hold the power button of the Ronin 4D Flex to power on.

Using the Pan Axis Quick-Lock (Figure G)
It is suitable to mount the pan axis quick-lock when using a tele lens mounted on devices such as a tripod (requires a third-party accessory).

• Make sure Ronin 4D is powered off or in sleep mode when mounting the pan axis quick-lock.
