DODOTRONIC Hi-Sound Compact Parabolic Microphone
DODOTRONIC
Hi-Sound Compact is a high-quality, very low-noise audio parabolic microphone specifically designed for wildlife audio recording. It is the first professional handheld stereo parabolic microphone in the market.
Product Overview
Hi-Sound Compact is derived from its bigger parabolic microphone big brother Hi-Sound DR, which is intended for use by biologists and wildlife enthusiasts. The goal was to design something that would free up your hands so that you could concentrate on filming. Hi-Sound Compact aims to record the inaudible sounds of animals in stunning quality and with little noise.
Application Areas
- Recording of wildlife
- Sporting events
- Investigation
- Industrial surveillance
Product Specifications
- Stereo parabolic microphone
- High-quality, very low-noise audio recording
- Two excellent microphonic capsules with a signal-to-noise ratio of 80dB
- Calibrated matched pair of capsules for optimal balance between left and right channels
- Plug-in power requirement, no batteries needed
- Can be mounted on a tripod for static application in unattended mode
- Polycarbonate reflectors for strength, flexibility, and transparency
- Lightweight design, weighing only 300g
- Windshield to reduce wind interferences in harsh environments
Usage Instructions
The Hi-Sound Compact can be used in two ways:
- Directly mounted on a camera: Use the flash mount to mount the microphone on your camera and connect the jack stereo connection to your camera’s microphone input.
- Standalone mode: Connect the microphone directly to a tripod mount for static application in unattended mode.
To obtain the optimal balance between left and right channels, make sure that the two capsules are positioned on the opposite side of the apparatus and are pointed at the reflector’s center. The stereophonic effect gives an immersive surround in every natural environment with each sound localized in its spatial position.
A robust bespoke casing has been developed to safeguard the microphone while it is in your possession. The shape and color are designed so that the device is virtually invisible.
Overview
Hi Sound Compact is the first professional handheld stereo parabolic microphone specifically designed for wildlife audio recording.
- Hi-Sound Compact comes from its big brother Hi-Sound DR, a larger parabolic microphone intended to be used by biologists and wildlife enthusiasts.
- Shotgun microphones are designed to be extremely directional in order to block out sound coming from the sides; however, they do not perform as well as parabolic microphones in terms of amplification and background noise.
- Each naturalist recorder carries their own recorder and a parabola in opposite hands. There will be too much equipment to carry while making a movie, and managing a big parabola is typically difficult.
- The goal was to design something that would free up your hands so that you could concentrate and begin your film.
- Hi-Sound Compact aims to record the inaudible sounds of animals in stunning quality and with little noise.
The following are some application areas:
- Recording of wildlife

- Industrial surveillance
Hi-Sound Compact is derived from its bigger parabolic microphone big brother
Hi-Sound DR, which is intended for use by biologists and wildlife lovers.
It has undergone years of research, development, and prototypes before
becoming operational.
The Hi-Sound Compact may be used with your camera directly mounted using the flash mount and the jack stereo connection inserted into the camera’s microphone input.
Furthermore, you can use it in standalone mode, connecting directly to a tripod mound.A robust bespoke casing that can house all the components and ensures shock protection with internal foam has also been developed to safeguard the microphone while it is in your possession.
There are two excellent microphonic capsules which has the best signal-to- noise ratio in its class at just 80dB. The two capsules are delivered as a calibrated matched pair in order to obtain the optimal balance between the left and right channels. Both capsules are positioned on the opposite side of the apparatus and are pointed at the reflector’s centre. Conveniently, there’s no need for batteries, with the device running on plug in power, directly from the recorder with a minimum energy requirement. The Hi-Sound Compact can also be mounted on a tripod for static application in unattended mode. The stereophonic effect gives an immersive surround in every natural environment with each sound localised in its own spatial position.
- The shape and colour are designed so that the device is virtually invisible
- The reflectors are made of polycarbonate which gives the perfect combination of strength, flexibility, and transparency.
- All the components are lightweight with a total weight of only 300g.
- The windshield greatly reduces wind interferences in harsh environments.
