Product Usage Instructions

  1. Choose the appropriate installation method according to your needs – floor-standing or wall-mounted.
  2. Insert the two ends of the stand frame into the holes at the bottom of the air purifier and hear a click to install in place if floor standing. Position the wall mounting paper according to your preference and drill the holes accordingly to mount the device on the wall.
  3. Plug in and turn on the power adapter. Press the On/Standby button to turn on the device. The display will show the current air quality level.
  4. Press the Mode Switch button to adjust fan speed and choose between three levels – low, medium, and high.
  5. Connect to Wi-Fi and download the Smartmi app to control the air purifier remotely. The app allows you to monitor air quality, adjust fan speed, and set schedules.
  6. Clean the outer mesh screen of the filter regularly to reduce bacteria growth. Also, remove dust, hair, and particles from the purifier’s air inlets to prevent a reduction of air intake. Cover the air outlet to prevent dust, hair, and other particles from falling in when the purifier is left unused for a long time.
  7. Before cleaning or performing maintenance, disconnect the appliance from the supply mains.

Note: For safety reasons, do not use the purifier near open flames, high- temperature appliances, inflammable objects, or in unstable locations.

WARNING

  • When the power adapter is damaged, it must be replaced with a genuine power adapter purchased from the manufacturer or after-sales service department.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Precautions

  • Turn off and unplug the purifier before moving it.
  • The purifier cannot turn on when the fan grille and the filter compartment cover are not installed properly.
  • Maintain a distance of at least 20 cm between the air inlets and walls or other objects.
  • Prior to cleaning or other maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected from the supply mains.
  • Frequently remove dust, hair, and other particles from the outer mesh screen of the filter, so as to reduce the chance of bacteria growth.
  • Remove dust, hair, and particles from the purifier’s air inlets to prevent a reduction of air intake.
  • Cover the air outlet to prevent dust, hair, and other particles from falling in when the purifier is left unused for a long time.
  • To avoid fire, electric shocks, or other damage, use the power adapter and electrical outlet as instructed below:
  • Do not excessively pull, twist or bend the power adapter, as this may expose or break the cord’s core.
  • The power adapter must be plugged into a suitable electrical outlet.
  • Use the power adapter that is provided with the purifier, do not use any third party power adapters.
  • Always unplug the purifier before carrying out maintenance to or moving the air purifier.
  • Immediately stop using the purifier when it makes unusual sounds, gives off bad odors, overheats, or its fan rotates irregularly.
  • Do not stick your fingers or foreign objects into the protective parts, movable parts, air inlets, or air outlets.
  • Keep objects such as hairs or fabrics away from the purifier to avoid blocking the air inlets or air outlets.
  • Do not sit on, lean on or tilt the purifier.
  • When using in conjunction with gas-fueled appliances (such as gas stoves, gas heaters), please ventilate sufficiently to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Do not pour liquids, nor throw powders or other small substances into the purifier’s air outlet.

Do not use the purifier in the following circumstances, as they may result in electric shocks, fire, or other damage

  • Near open flames, such as candles, incense burners, stoves, fireplaces, cigarettes, firecrackers, lighters, multipurpose torches, candle lighters, or fire pans.
  • Near appliances that generate high temperatures, such as electric heaters, fan heaters, electric foot warmers, electric stoves, and electric irons.
  • Make sure no inflammable objects get into the purifier.
  • In unstable locations where the purifier can easily fall over.
  • In environments that are extremely hot, humid, or damp, such as bathrooms.

Installation

This product has two installation methods: floor-standing and wall-mounted, and you can choose the appropriate installation method according to your needs.

Floor-standing installation

  1. Insert the two ends of the stand frame into the holes at the bottom of the air purifier and hear a “click” to install in place.
  2. For optimal performance, make sure the distances between the purifier’s air inlets and other objects such as walls meet the requirements as suggested below.
  3. Connecting to an electrical outlet.

Note: It is recommended to keep doors and windows closed for a better purifying effect when using the purifier.

Wall-mounted installation

  1. Please make sure the installation position on the wall for the purifier, and there must be a power outlet nearby. Clean the wall, check the accessories (2 sets of screws&anchor, 1 sheet of positioning paper), and choose the installation direction of the purifier.
    • Tip: The recommended installation height is about 1.4 meters (excluding the height of the purifier).smartmi-E1-Air-Purifier-FIG-13
  2. Lay the positioning paper on the wall, and position it according to the two crosses on the positioning paper (pay attention to the installation direction), and use a drill bit with a diameter of 6mm to drill two holes about 40mm deep on the wall.smartmi-E1-Air-Purifier-FIG-14
  3. Insert the anchor into the hole and screw in the screw slowly. Do not screw the screw all the way into the anchor, suggest leave about 7-8mm as shown.
  4. Remove the packaging of the purifier, align the mounting holes, hang the purifier on the screw, and connect the power adapter to the power supply.

How to Use

  • On/Standby: Press on/standby button to turn on the purifier. When the purifier is on, press the on/standby button to enter standby mode.
  • Switching mode: While the purifier is on, press the mode switch button to cycle through modes.smartmi-E1-Air-Purifier-FIG-17
  • Resetting Wi-Fi: While the purifier is on, press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds, Wi-Fi indicator blinking, Wi-Fi is successfully reset and purifier enters the state of waiting for a connection.
  • Enabling/Disabling Wi-Fi: While the purifier is on, press and hold the mode button and on/standby button simultaneously for 5 seconds, the Wi-Fi will be disabled. While Wi-Fi is off, same operation can enable the Wi-Fi.
  • Factory Reset: While the purifier is on, press and hold Mode button for 10 seconds, the mode indicator and Wi-Fi indicator flash three times from left to right in sequence, factory reset is completed.

Note: After factory reset is performed, the filter life span will be recalculated.

This product has been linked to the Smartmi Link and can be controlled using the app. Scan the QR code or search for “Smartmi Link” on the app store to download and install the app. Go to the app’s homepage, click “+” in the middle of the page, then add the device as prompted.

  • Please ensure that your Wi-Fi network is both available and has Internet access. Place your phone as close to this product as possible. (This product does not support 5G networks)
  • This product will be listed as “Smartmi Air Purifier E1” in the app’s device listing.

Intelligent Control with Apple HomeKit

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone/iPad.
  2. Tap “Add Accessory” and then scan the HomeKit setup code on the product sticker (two stickers on the device unit, see illustration), or enter the eight-digit setup code above the HomeKit Setup Code. The device will then be linked to the Apple Home app.

The device can be linked to Smartmi Link after linking to HomeKit. Go to the Personal Info page on Smartmi Link. Tap “HomeKit Info” and then link the HomeKit device as prompted. Devices linked to Smartmi Link can also be added to HomeKit. Go to the Device Control page on Smartmi Link. Tap “Add to HomeKit” in “Settings” and then link the device to HomeKit as prompted.

  • Please ensure that your Wi-Fi network is both available and has Internet access. Place your phone as close to this product as possible. (This product does not support 5G networks).
  • To control this accessory which is compatible with HomeKit, it is recommended to use iOS 13.0 or a later version.
  • Please keep the HomeKit setup code, as you will need to scan the code to link the device to HomeKit after a factory reset.
  • iPad and iPhone are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
  • Controlling this HomeKit-enabled accessory automatically and away from home requires a HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad set up as a home hub. It is recommended that you update to the latest software and operating system.

Filter Replacement

Warning

  • Power off purifier and disconnect it from the power supply before performing the following operations.
  • When the purifier is wall-mounted, it is recommended to take down the purifier before replacing the filter.

  1. Removing the Old Filter: As illustrated in the figure, hold the purifier with one hand, and pull the edge of the filter with the other hand to remove the old filter.
  2. Installing the New Filter: Removing the filter packaging. Insert the bottom snap of the new filter into place, and push it up to the top to fix it in place and complete the replacement.
  • Resetting the Filter: Power on the air purifier, press and hold the Mode button for 5 seconds to reset the service life for the new filter.

Note

  • It is recommended to replace the filter every 3–6 months, when it detects that the filter needs to be replaced, the device will send a prompt to your app, please replace the filter on time.
  • To ensure your purifier properly works and purifies, please purchase genuine and compatible filters from official channels.

Maintenance and Care

Warning: Make sure the purifier is turned off and the power adapter is unplugged before performing the following operations.

  1. To ensure optimal ventilation and purification, use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust from the air inlets and the filter compartment, or wipe these areas gently with a soft cloth.
  2. After cleaning, install the filter in place.

WARNING

  • Do not insert fingers or foreign objects into grille.
  • Do not power on the purifier without filter installed.

Note: To avoid damaging the purifier, do not rinse or spray the purifier directly with water, or wipe it with a soaking wet cloth.
