UHF Desktop Reader

Product Information

The UHF Desktop Reader is a communication device that operates at ultra-high frequency (UHF), with a range of 865-868 MHz and 902-928 MHz depending on the product reference. It is available in different models that cater to specific regions such as Australia, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, and the US. The communication output is via a cable that requires direct current to function. The reader can be configured in bidirectional SSCP mode and keyboard emulation mode.

Usage Instructions

Before using the UHF Desktop Reader, make sure that the driver is installed correctly. For Windows 10, the reader is automatically detected as a USB composite device and installs the driver automatically. For Windows versions earlier than 10, the driver is installed with STid Software. If no STid software is installed, follow these steps:

  1. Contact [email protected] to obtain the 2 drivers files: cdc.cat and fsl_ucwxp.inf.
  2. Connect the reader to the USB port COM of PC.
  3. Copy the 2 files in the directory: C:WindowsINF.

The reader can be used in keyboard emulation mode or wedge mode, where it emulates a keyboard and displays in the active window the characters received from the serial link. To configure the reader in wedge mode, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install STid-USB Wedge Configuration tool from
    https://stid.com/images/UWedgeConfv110_setup.zip

  2. Set the options needed (if different than the defaults).

  3. Send the ‘Keyboard emulation ON’ command.

For more information about reader communication, refer to the protocol specification document: Spec_Protocole_SSCP_UHF_INDUS-Vx.x.
