Proper use
– This battery operated appliance is for indoor and household use only, use only the accessories and spare parts approved by KÄRCHER.
– The appliance is not suitable for cleaning deep-pile carpets and wet floors/surfaces.
– The appliance is not suitable for cleaning concrete, gravel, etc.
The manufacturer is not responsible for any damages that may occur on account of improper use or wrong operations.
Owner/User Responsibility
The owner and/or user must have an understanding of the manufacturer’s operating instructions and warnings before using this appliance.
Warning information should be emphasized and understood.
If the operator is not fluent in English, the manufacturer’s instructions and warnings shall be read to and discussed with the operator in the operator’s native language by the purchaser/ owner, making sure that the operator comprehends its contents.
Owner and/or user must study and maintain for future reference the manufacturers’ instructions.

When using this product basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.

To reduce the risk of electric shock:

  • Do not allow to be used as a toy.
    Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

  • Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.

  • Do not use with damaged battery charger output cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water,
    return it to a service center.

  • Do not pull or carry by the battery charger output cord, do not use battery charger output cord as a handle, do not close a door on the battery charger output cord, or pull battery charger output cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over battery charger output cord. Keep battery charger output cord away from  heated surfaces.

  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in off-position before picking up or carrying the appliance. Carrying the appliance with your fingers on the switch or energizing appliance that have the switch on invites accidents.

  • Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.

  • Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or the battery pack (as applicable) except a indicated in the instructions for use and care.

  • Do not unplug by pulling battery charger output cord. To unplug, grasp plug.

  • Do not handle battery charger or appliance with wet hands.

  • Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use if openings are blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.

  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.

  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

  • Do not charge the unit outdoors.

  • Use only the charger supplied by the manufactures to recharge.

  • Do not incinerate the appliance even if it severely damaged. The batteries can explode in fire.

  • Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, amonia, drain cleaner, etc).

  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.

  • Do not immerse. Use only on surfaces moistened by the cleaning process.

  • Short circuit hazard! Do not insert conductive objects (such as screwdrivers or similar) into the charger plug.

  • You may recharge the battery using only the original charger provided with the appliance or a charger approved by KÄRCHER.

  • In case of visual damage, replace the charger with original manufacturer suggested parts.

  • Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

  • Do not use a battery pack or appliance that is damaged or modified.Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.

  • Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

  • Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or appliance outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may demage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

  • The voltage indicated on the type  plate must correspond to the supply voltage.

  • Store and use the charger in dry rooms only.

  • Do not expose a battery pack or appliance to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 265°F (130°C) may cause explosion.

  • Store and use the charger in dry rooms only, ambient temperature 41 – 104°F (5 – 40°C)

  • Store and operate the appliance at temperatures from 32 – 104°F (0 – 40 °C).

  • Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.

  • The battery has been tested as per the relevant directives for international transport and can be transported/shipped.

START UP

Installing the handle, struts and connection pieces

  • Insert the handle on the strut.
  • Insert the struts and the connection pieces.
  • Insert the fully assembled handle on the flexible double joint

  • Insert the charger delivered with the appliance into a proper socket.
  • Insert the connector plug into the appliances’s charging socket.
  • The LED indicator will flash.KARCHER KB 5 Cordless Sweeper - START UP 3
  • The LED indicator will light up constantly once charged fully (approximately more than 90 minutes before first use).
  • The unit is now ready for use.

Battery service life
Low pile carpets
The battery service life in carpet cleaning is max. 20 minutes.
Hard floors
The battery service life in hard floor cleaning is max. 30 minutes.
LED indicator
During battery charging:
LED blinks green.
The battery is charged:
LED illuminates constantly in green.
LED lights up until the mains plug is removed from the socket.
Operating mode:
LED illuminates constantly in green.
The battery must be charged:
The LED blinks slowly in red approx. 5 minutes before the battery has to be charged.
Battery is empty:
LED illuminates constantly in red.
Motor blockade:
LED blinks red fast.
Put the device in the parking position for at least 3 seconds (switch off device) for troubleshooting.

Starting the work

Interrupting the work

Finishing your work

  • To switch off the appliance, bring the handle in an upright position.

  • Re-insert the dirt container

Storing the appliance

  • Store the cleaned appliance an upright position in a clean, dry place that is protected from dust.
  • Charge the battery.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING

  • To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury, turn power OFF and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting.
  • Never clean the appliance under running water.

Cleaning the device

  • Wipe the appliance using a damp cloth. Do not use any aggressive agents, such as cleaning powder.

Change / clean the brush roller

  • To switch off the appliance, bring the handle in an upright position.

  • Remove the dirt container from the appliance.

  • Remove the brush roller.

  • Remove wound up hair using a knife or scissors. Move the knife along the defined cutting edge and then remove the loosened hair.KARCHER KB 5 Cordless Sweeper - START UP 13

  • Insert the cleaned or new brush roller and ensure that it sits properly.KARCHER KB 5 Cordless Sweeper - START UP 14

TROUBLESHOOTING

LED indicator blinks slowly/fast or illuminates constantly red

  • Charge the battery or remove the motor blockade (refer chapter “Charging the battery“).

Appliance does not clean properly

  • Clean or replace the brush rollers (refer chapter “Replace/ clean brush roller”).
  • Charge the battery (refer chapter “Charging the battery“).

Dirt is being thrown out of the appliance

  • Empty the full dirt container (refer chapter “Empty dirt container”).

The battery of the appliance is not replaceable.

Disconnecting the battery will destroy the appliance and invalidate the warranty.

  • The battery should be removed from the appliance before disposal.
