Product Information

Recessed Lights
The Ultra-Thin Panel Light is a recessed light product manufactured by SehnlichTM. The product has a sleek and modern design, with a recessed panel that provides an even and bright light. The product uses LED lights, which are energy-efficient, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly. The Ultra-Thin Panel Light is dimmable, allowing users to adjust the lighting according to their preference.

Troubleshooting

At SehnlichTM, we are dedicated to providing a hassle-free experience for all customers. Our data shows that most problems are related to the installation process and the use of dimmers. Usually, these issues can be resolved fairly easily. To save you time, we have created this quick guide to help you identify the root cause of any problems you may encounter.

Installation Instructions

  • Our recessed lights are NOT to be used with external junction boxes. Do not mix junction boxes of our lights with different sizes either, as their parameters will not match even if they look the same.
  • Use only the dimmers from the list of compatible models. Please only use a dimmer from the list of the recommended models.
  • The total power in the circuit should not exceed the rated power of the dimmer. To avoid overloading the dimmer, ensure that the total power in the circuit (the sum of lighting power and dimmer power) does not exceed this value.
  • The circuit must not include any other external devices. It is not recommended to have high-power devices (such as air conditioners, refrigerators, hair dryers, etc.) on the same circuit as recessed lights.

Usage Instructions

  • Install the Ultra-Thin Panel Light according to the instructions provided in the packaging or consult a professional electrician for assistance.
  • Use only the dimmers from the list of compatible models. Please only use a dimmer from the list of the recommended models.
  • Ensure that the total power in the circuit does not exceed the rated power of the dimmer.
  • Avoid using high-power devices (such as air conditioners, refrigerators, hair dryers, etc.) on the same circuit as recessed lights.
  • If you encounter any buzzing noises in the junction box, check if an incompatible dimmer is installed in the circuit. Use only the dimmers from the list of compatible models.
  • If you find that the dimming range is too small, adjust the dimming range using the function provided by the dimmer manufacturer.

If you have any further questions or encounter problems that cannot be resolved by following these instructions, please contact our customer support team for assistance.

Problems you may encounter

  1. Buzzing noises in the junction box: The driver with galvanic isolation that we use for our LED lights is designed to completely isolate the input and output circuits, which prevents electric shock and fire incidents caused by temporary high voltage. This makes our lights safer and more durable. Our driver is FCC and EMC compliant and doesn’t produce any humming noises. However, the buzzing issue could appear if an incompatible dimmer is installed in the circuit.

    • a. Use only the dimmers from the list of compatible models. This ensures that you can enjoy a peaceful and comfortable environment.
    • b. If you’re finding that the noise from your recessed lights is too disruptive, please check the specifications (1) — (4). If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’ll be more than happy to help you find a solution.
  2. The dimming range is too small:

    • a. Different LED drivers have different dimming ranges, which means the default setting on LED dimmers may not be suitable for every LED light. To solve this issue, many dimmer manufacturers offer a function to adjust the dimming range. For example, Lutron Electronics company has an adjustment dial on the side of the dimmer or button — press programming. With this, you can press the button to set the desired dimming range. If you’re unsure about how to operate a particular dimmer, consult the manufacturer or read the introduction manual.
      b. To ensure that your dimmer will work properly, please check the Dimmer Compatibility List. This will allow you to find out which dimmers have been tested and found to be compatible.
  3. The light turns off before reaching the minimum brightness

    • a. If your light turns off before it reaches the minimum brightness, it’s likely because the standard minimum brightness of your dimmer is too high. This exceeds the dimming range of the light, causing it to shut off. The solution is the same as in (2): which is to adjust the dimming range of the dimmer. This will allow the light to stay on at the minimum brightness.
    • b. To ensure compatibility, please check the Dimmer Compatibility List to see if your dimmer has been tested.
  4. The light flickers during dimming
There are three primary reasons why your recessed lights may flicker when dimmed.

  5. The light is not on when the switch turns on

    • a. If you find that your recessed lights are not turning on when you switch them on, it could be due to the dimmer range being set too low. In this case, you will need to adjust the dimmer range to a normal value. For more information on how to do this, please see the adjustments that need to be done above in (2)
    • b. Please check if the wires are loose in the terminals. This may be the reason for the bad connection.
  6. The light turns off accidentally

    • If your recessed lights are flickering or turning off unexpectedly, it could be due to voltage fluctuations. Other devices in the circuit can affect the input voltage of the lights. To troubleshoot this issue, check and turn off other devices.

Troubleshooting Table

WARNING

  1. Prior to installation, make sure to turn off the power supply at the fuse box or circuit breaker to avoid any possible electrical shock.
  2. Installation or servicing of the luminaire wiring and electrical parts may pose a risk of fire or electric shock. If you are not qualified, do not attempt the installation. Please contact a qualified electrician.
  3. Always connect the fixture only to a 120 volt, 60 Hz power source to avoid voiding the warranty.
  4. Be cautious when looking into the light source as LEDs emit bright light and too much exposure can damage your eyesight.
  5. Handle the junction box with care as the edges may be sharp — it is advised to wear gloves while handling

Cleaning and Maintaining your Recessed Lights
To ensure optimal performance and a long lifespan for your recessed lights, regular cleaning and maintenance are necessary. Below are some tips on how to properly care for your fixtures:

  • Before cleaning, always disconnect the power to the fixture by turning the breaker off or removing the fuse from the fuse box.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the fixture. Avoid using cleaners with chemicals, solvents, or harsh abrasives as these can damage the finish or sensitive parts of the light.
  • For LED recessed lights, do not use liquid cleaner on the LEDs, LED driver, or wiring inside the light fixture. Doing so can cause irreparable damage.
  • By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your recessed lights will provide years of trouble — free operation.

WARNING

It is important to take the time to read and understand all instructions before beginning your recessed lighting installation. This will help ensure a successful installation and avoid any potential issues

  • Prior to any actions, always shut the power off at the main electrical panel.
  • All electrical connections should be made in compliance with local and national electric code standards.
