LEE PRECISION S23655 Carbide Factory Crimp Die
Product Information
The Lee Precision Factory Crimp Die is designed to crimp bullets in place just like factory ammunition, resulting in better accuracy and uniform velocity. This die does not seat the bullet, so it should be used in conjunction with a regular bullet seating die. It can be used to crimp below the crimp groove if necessary.
Please note that this product may contain steel alloyed with trace amounts of lead and other elements which are known to the State of California to cause reproductive harm and cancer. It is important to prevent exposure by avoiding alterations to the product, such as welding or grinding.
Product Usage Instructions
- Use a regular bullet seating die to seat the bullet to the desired depth. If the bullet has a crimp groove, it is best to seat the bullet so most of the groove is inside the case mouth.
- After seating the bullet, use the Lee Precision Factory Crimp Die to crimp the bullet in place.
- If necessary, it is okay to crimp below the crimp groove.
- Be sure to follow all safety precautions to prevent exposure to lead and other harmful elements in the product.
INSTRUCTIONS: Screw the factory crimp die in to touch the shell holder, plus turn more. It is best to start with too little crimp, as you can adjust in for more. Finger tighten lock ring. This locks to both the die and the press and it will never move. When the four splits in the collet are closed, maximum crimp has been achieved. Do not try for more, as the die will be damaged, and the crimp excessive. Be certain to give the lever a firm push at end of the stroke to close the collet and apply crimp (25 lbs. minimum).
WARNING: This product may contain steel alloyed with trace amounts of lead and other elements which are known to the State of California to cause reproductive harm and cancer. Better accuracy with factory-crimped ammunition, a must for hunting ammunition. Uniform start pressure produces uniform velocity. Crimp bullets in place just like factory ammunition.
USING
The Lee Factory Crimp™ Die does not seat the bullet, it should be seated with your regular bullet seating die. Seat to the desired depth. If bullet has a crimp groove, it is usually best to seat the bullet so most of the groove is inside the case mouth. If the load data will not allow this seating depth, it is okay to crimp below the crimp groove.
- Bullets do not need a crimp groove as the Lee Factory Crimp Die will form one while crimping. However, it requires a harder push on the press lever to form the crimp.
- When removing the die, always loosen by the lock ring. This insures the lock ring will maintain its exact setting for future use.
- Trim length is not critical. However, be certain that your cases are no longer than specifications; as a case excessively long will pinch the bullet in the end of your gun’s chamber and cause dangerous pressures. Cases trimmed excessively short cannot be crimped.
