General questions:

What is Shark Advanced Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology?

With an unsealed HEPA vacuum, dirt and allergens you vacuum up can escape back into the air that you breathe before they even reach the HEPA filter. Anti- Allergen Complete Seal Technology traps dust and allergens inside the vacuum, keeping them out of the air you breathe.

Will the lights burn out?

The LED lights in the nozzle and should not burn out.

Can I turn the headlights off?

The powerful LED headlights are designed to illuminate debris in dark spaces to make cleaning even more efficient. Headlights will illuminate whenever the power is on and are designed to last the life of the vacuum.

Are there different settings for cleaning hard floors and carpets?

The Shark UpLight DuoClean Zero-M Corded Vacuum has one cleaning mode that is optimal for both barefloors and carpets.

How do I store the vacuum?

The UpLight corded vacuum features retractable wheels that extend to keep the vacuum in a standing position in upright position.

For easy maneuverability in storage mode, tilt the handle back and roll the vacuum on the retractable wheels. To take the vacuum out of storage mode, step on the footprint icon on the floor nozzle and tilt the handle back. The retractable wheels will slide back.

General questions about using the vacuum:

How do I assemble my vacuum?
  1. Lift the floor nozzle tube, pushing it firmly until it stands upright. The retractable wheels will extend so the vacuum can stand on its own.

  2. Insert the wand into the floor nozzle tube.

  3. Attach the Lift-Away pod to the wand.

  4. Snap the accessory holder onto the wand, then place accessories in the holder.

How do I clean above floors with or without accessories?

There are 3 different above-floor cleaning modes that you can choose from:

  • To clean above-floor areas with the wand, stand the vacuum upright, then step on the release pedal on the floor nozzle and pull up the wand.
  • For even more reach and flexibility with the wand attached to the pod, slide the hose cuff down to extend the integrated hose. Note: When finished with the hose, snap the hose cuff back into place to reattach the wand to the pod.
  • To clean with the Lift-Away pod, first detach it by pressing the Pod Release button on the back of the wand. Attach an accessory for more reach when cleaning above-floor areas like stairs and on furniture. For added flexibility and reach, slide the cuff down to extend the hose.

Note : When finished with the hose, snap the hose cuff back into place.

How do I detach the pod for portable cleaning?

Press the Lift-Away release button on the top of the wand and pull the pod to detach it from the wand. To clean with the extended hose, slide the hose cuff down to separate it from the vacuum body. Add an accessory and begin cleaning. To replace the hose to the vacuum, either slide or snap the hose back onto the body.

General questions about maintenance:

How do I clean the filters and how often?

Filters may need to be cleaned if the vacuum stops picking up dirt, if airflow is restricted, or if you notice lighter or no suction. For optimal performance, clean filters regularly. Between cleanings, lightly tap filters clean over a trash receptacle to remove dust and debris as needed.

Rinse the pre-motor foam and felt filters once a month, or as needed.

  • Remove the dust cup from the pod by lifting the release latches on the back of the handle.
  • Remove the foam filter and the filter frame. The felt filter is built into the frame. Pull the foam filter off the frame.
  • Rinse the foam filter and the filter frame with water only. Be sure to wash the frame thoroughly.
  • Allow filters to air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling.
  • Once dry, install the foam filter onto the felt filter frame.
  • Reattach the dust cup.

Rinse the post-motor HEPA filter once a year, or as needed.

  • Press the HEPA button on the bottom front of the dust cup to remove the filter cover.
  • Push the middle tab to remove the HEPA filter.
  • Rinse with water only.
  • Allow filter to air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling.
  • Once dry, reinstall the filter.
  • Reattach the filter cover until both sides click into place.

Note : Do not place filters in the dishwasher or washing machine.

How do I empty the dust cup and how often?

For stability, keep the vacuum in the upright standing mode while removing the dust cup.

To remove the dust cup from the Lift-Away pod, slide up both Dust Cup Release latches on the back of the handle at the same time and then pull out the dust cup.

  • Hold the dust cup over the trash and press the bottom button on the front of the dust cup. The bottom door will open, allowing the debris to fall out.
  • Tap gently to empty contents.
  • Close the bottom door, pressing it until it clicks into place.
  • To remove collected debris from the mesh screen inside the dust cup, press the top release button and lift the handle to open.
  • To reinstall, place bottom of dust cup into pod and then tilt it back until it clicks into place.

For optimal performance, empty the dust cup each time you vacuum, or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line.

How do I maintain the brushroll and softroller?

Brushroll:

If you notice any hair wrap, continue vacuuming and the Self-Cleaning Brushroll will automatically remove it. If some hair wrap remains after continued use, remove the brushroll cover from the bottom of the nozzle and carefully clean off the hair.

  • To remove the cover, use a coin to turn the locks counterclockwise.
  • Lift off the cover and remove any debris or hair wrap. Check the Debris Intake and clear away any dirt or blockages.
  • To close the cover, push down until it clicks into place, then turn the locks clockwise until closed.

Softroller:

  • To remove the Soft Roller, slide the Eject Roller button on the floor nozzle.
  • Tap loose debris off the Soft Roller. Use a dry towel to wipe it clean, and to remove any debris caught in the teeth behind the Soft Roller.
  • Hand-wash the Soft Roller as needed. Use only water, and let it air-dry completely for at least 24 hours.
  • Reinsert the Soft Roller and press it in until it clicks securely into place
