WiFi to Ethernet Adapter Mode Setting

Please choose either Method 1 or Method 2 to set up as WiFi to Ethernet Adapter Mode.
In case you fail in either method, please reset the device back to its factory default setting before trying the other method.

Method 1 : Quick Setup via Web Management Interface

  1. Power on the adapter
    Plug the adapter in the same room as your existing main WiFi router.

  2. Wait until the System LED light blinks slowly.

  3. Connect to your existing WiFi network
    Connect your wireless device to the adapter’s default networkmywifi_EXT. (Default WiFi password: 12345678)BrosTrend-N300-Wifi-to-Ethernet-Adaptor-

  4. Ensure that the Mobile Data (if any) function of your wireless device is disabled

    By default, the password of the extended network is the same as your existing network. If you want to change the name and password of the extended network, please click “Modify SSID network name and password of extended network”, then enter the new network name and password in the text box below.

  10. Check if the adapter connects to your existing WiFi network successfully according to the color of the adapter’s Extend LED light:

  11. Green: Successful & Strong Signal

  12. Orange: Successful & Good Signal

  13. Red: Successful while Weak Signal
    Please relocate the adapter closer to your existing router.

  14. Off: Failed
    Please relocate the adapter in the same room as your existing router and set up again.

  15. Relocate the adapter and connect it to your wired device

  16. Please plug the adapter in a location within the WiFi range of your router and wait until the Extend LED light turns on. If the Extend LED light is red or off, please relocate the adapter closer to your existing router to get a better signal

  17. Connect your wired device to the adapter with an Ethernet cable.

Method 2: Quick Setup via WPS Button

You can use this method if your existing main WiFi router has a WPS button (the button might look like one of these: @, 8, or “-.” ). Otherwise, use Method 1.

  1. Power on the adapter
    Plug the adapter in the same room as your existing main WiFi router.

  2. Wait until the System LED light blinks slowly

  3. Pairs with your existing main WiFi router

  4. Press the WPS button on your existing main WiFi router.

  5. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the adapter for 2-3 seconds.

  6. Wait until the Extend LED light turns on, which indicates that this adapter pairs with your existing main WiFi router successfully.

  8. Relocate the adapter and connect it to your wired device Please refer to Step 3 in Method 1.

Access Point Mode Setting

In case you used to set up this product as WiFi to Ethernet Adapter Mode, please reset it back to its factory default setting before setting up as Wireless Access Point Mode.

  1. Power on the Access Point
    Plug the access point into an electrical outlet.

  2. Wait until the System LED light blinks slowly

  3. Create your Wireless Access Point network

  4. Use your wireless device to connect to the default network mywifi_EXT. (Default WiFi password: 12345678)BrosTrend-N300-Wifi-to-Ethernet-Adaptor-and-Wireless-Access-Point-FIG- \(16\)

  5. Make sure that the Mobile Data (if any) function of your wireless device is disabled.

  7. Set up the network name and password of your new wireless network, click Apply and wait for one minute.

FAQ

Q1: What should I do if I forget my login password?
Reset the device first, then visit setupwifi.net to create a new login password.
Note: To access the Internet, the device must be reconfigured after a reset.

Q2: What should I do if I cannot access the web management page?

  • For WiFi to Ethernet Adapter Mode:
    • Make sure that you have connected to the adapters network (mywifi_EXT or the wireless network name which you have set up). Or you can also use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly with the Ethernet port of this adapter.
    • Verify that the default access setupwifi.net is correctly entered in the browser.
    • Make sure the IP address and DNS server address of your computer is AUTO OBTAIN.
  • For Wireless Access Point Mode:
    • In case you have already set up the Access Point, please connect it to an Internet-enabled Ethernet port and try again.
    • In case this is your initial setup, please refer to the methods for WiFi to Ethernet Adapter Mode.

Q3: The adapter cannot find the WiFi network of my router, what should I do?

  • Your router may be encrypted with WEP, WPA/WPA(Enterprise) or WPA3-PSK algorithm.
    Please change your router’s encryption type to WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK, and try scanning again.

  • Change the 2.4GHz WiFi channel of your router to any one between 1 and 11, then try again.
    This adapter does not support connecting with 5GHz WiFi networks.

Q4: What should I do if the Extend LED light does not turn on after setup is completed?

  • For WiFi to Ethernet Adapter Mode:
    • Please relocate the adapter closer to your existing router, then wait for 30 seconds and check if the Extend LED light turns on.
    • Reset the adapter and reconfigure it again. Please make sure that the password of your existing network is correctly input.
  • For Wireless Access Point Mode:
    • If you have already set up the access point, please connect it to your modem or an Internet-enabled Ethernet port with an Ethernet cable, then check if the Extend LED light turns solid Green.
    • Reset the access point and reconfigure it again.

Q5: Under WiFi to Ethernet adapter mode, why does my wired device still have a slow Internet connection speed?

  • Please do NOT connect any other wireless devices to the extended network of this adapter. The more wireless devices you connect to its extended network, the slower speed you get on your wired device.
  • Please keep the adapter away from any electrical devices with high power consumption, such as a working microwave oven.
  • Please install the adapter at least 3 feet away from the floor or the ceiling

Q6: I have initially completed the setup, but when I log back into the Web Management Interface, it allows me only to set it up again. What should I do?

For second login, please use your desktop or laptop to log back in instead of using a mobile device such as your smartphone or tablet.
