- Check the operating tool for
- tight fit of the attachment parts
- damage or heavy wear and tear – When replacing observe installation instructions
- Examine line installed on the outside of the tool and the connection cable for damage and wear and tear (brittleness). Only use when no damages can be found.
- Repairs to the cable may only be carried out by a specialist.
- Check the grassbox more often for wear and tear.
- Before adjusting or cleaning of the tool or before checking whether the connection line has been knotted up or damaged switch off the tool and pull plug out of the socket.
Cables
- Attention! Electric shock through cable damage When the cable is cut through or damaged, the safety fuse doesn’t always trip.
- Do not touch cable, before pulling out the power plug from the socket.
- Damaged cable has to be completely replaced. Patching the cable with insulating tape is forbidden.
- Use only extension cables with a minimum cross-section of 3 x 1.5 mm2 and a length of max. 25 m:
- When using rubber-sheathed cables, they must be of type HO 7 RN-F or heavier.
- When using PVC-sheathed cables, they must be of type HO5 VV-F or heavier (cables of this type are not suitable for continuous outdoor use – e.g. underground installation for the connection of an outdoor socket or pond pump, or outdoor storage).
- Plugs and couplings must be protected from splashes.
- Use a residual current protection device (RCD) with a residual current not exceeding 30 mA.
- Fit the connection cable to the mains lead cleat. Do not allow to rub against edges or against sharp or pointed objects. Do not squeeze cables through tight door or window openings. Switch devices must not be removed or circumvented (e.g. connecting the switch lever to the handle bars)
During starting up
- Only switch on motor when your feet are at a safe distance from the cutting tools.
- Do not tilt the machine when switching on the motor, unless the machine has to be tilted when starting. If that is the case, do not tip the machine more than absolutely necessary, and only lift the part furthest removed from the user. Always ensure that both hands are in the operating position before replacing the machine on the ground.
During aerating/scarifying
- Warning, Danger! Cutting tool is lagging!
- Adhere to the safety distance given by the guidance spars.
- Never put your hands or feet near the rotating parts.
- Always keep away from the ejection opening.
- Only switch on motor when your feet are at a safe distance from the cutting tools.
- If possible, avoid the use of the unit when the grass is wet otherwise exercise extreme caution to avoid slipping.
- Always make sure that you have a safe footing, especially on slopes. Never run, always walk slowly.
- Do not use the unit on steep slopes.
- Always move the unit horizontally to the slope, never up and down.
- Take particular care when changing direction on inclined ground.
- Take particular care when turning the machine or when pulling it towards you.
- Stop the working tools if:
- the machine needs to be tilted for transport.
- if areas other than grass are to be crossed
- when transporting the machine.
- Never use the unit when protective devices or housing parts are damaged or missing.
- Before lifting or removing the unit switch off motor and wait until the operating tools have come to a complete standstill.
- Before removing the grassbox or adjusting of the operating height switch off motor and wait for the complete standstill of the operating tools.
- Replace worn or damaged blades as a complete set. Observe installation instructions. For safety reasons always use original spare parts.
- Maintenance and cleaning procedures on the unit as well as removing the protective devices may only be carried out when the engine is switched off.
- Never store the unit in damp surroundings or near open flame.
- Should have run over an object with the unit it should be examined by a specialist (see list of repair shops) for safety reasons.
- If the connection cable is damaged during use it must be disconnected immediately. Do not touch the cable until it is disconnected.
- Switch off the machine, pull the mains plug and wait for the machine to stop running if, for example:
- leaving the machine
- unblocking a blade
- intending to check, clean or work on the machine
- you have encountered a foreign object, in which case you should check the machine for damage and carry out any necessary repairs.
- the machine is vibrating heavily (switch off immediately and ascertain the cause).
- you wish to change the settings or carry out cleaning work.
- you wish to check whether the connection cables have become tangled or damaged.
- If the connection cable is damaged during use, it must be immediately disconnected from the mains power supply.
- Do not touch the cable before it has been disconnected from the mains power supply.
Maintenance
Attention! Rotary cutter blade Before all maintenance and cleaning work:
- Pull out the power plug.
- Do not touch running blades.
Disposal
Do not dispose of electrical equipment in domestic waste. Recycle
equipment, accessories and packaging in an environment-friendly manner.
Assembly
Fixing the grab handle
Caution!
- Take care that you do not kink the electrical cable and the Bowden cable.
- See illustrations for assembly.
Operation
Operating times
- Please check noise abatement regulations prevailing in your country.
Feed cable through the strain relief
- Please feed cable through the strain relief.
Connecting to the mains (230 Volts, A.C., 50 Hz)
-
The machine operates from any normal household mains supply.
Note: Residual current protection device These protection devices safeguard while touching damaged wires, from insulation flaws and in certain cases, also while damaging live wires. -
We recommend that the equipment only be plugged into a power socket, which is protected by a residual current protection device (RCD) with a residual current of not more than 30 mA.
Adjust operating depth
- Caution! Only with motor switched off and non-mowing scarifying / aerating roller.
- Caution! The working depth must be set correctly before the unit is used for the first time. The hight adjustment lever may be moved to the first working depth setting only (position „1“)
Note
If the blades/aerator tines are worn, the working depth must be readjusted
subsequently. An optimum working depth is obtained when the blades/aerator
tines of the cutter are inserted 2–3 mm into the ground.
If the working depth is too great, the unit may be overloaded and cause
damage. Therefore, ensure that the working depth is set correctly.
- Increasing the working depth (cutters towards the ground) (a, b)
- Set height adjustment lever (depending on model) according to wear.
- Settings pos. „2, 3, 4“ are not required until the blades/aerator tines are worn. Depending on the degree of wear, gradually set the blades lower, starting at pos. „2“.
- Reducing the working depth (a, c) 3 Scarifying/aerating test:
- Set height adjustment lever in working position „1, 2, 3,4“.
- Start tool
- On hearing stones being hit or blocking of the motor immediately switch off tool
- Reducing the working depth : Set height adjustment lever in working position „1, 2, 3, 4“.
- Start scarifying / aerating test again
- When used regularly the working depth may be adjusted according to the wear of the blade (+).
Recommended working heights
- well kept lawns with stone-free, soft ground
- Set tool exactly to ground height
- stony, untidy lawns
- Set tool to ground height
- Increase working height if stones are thrown up
- unkempt, extremely mossy lawns
- Start with a high working height
- Do not overload appliance (reduce working height if motor blocks)
- Cut vertically and crossways several times
Scarifying/aerating
- Depress button (1) and hold.
- Lift up bar (2) and release button (1).
- Switch-off motor: Release bar (2).
Important: Place the cable firmly off the lawn or on the already cut side of the lawn when starting to mow.

- Pull out fixing bracket (c) and turn by 90° to the right (towards the shaft) (1, 2).
- Push complete shaft all the way to the left out of the holder (d) and remove downwards (3, 4).
- Installing scarifier shaft (a) or aerator shaft (b):
- Pull out fixing bracket (c) and turn by 90° to the right (towards the shaft) (1, 2).
- Insert complete shaft from below behind the holder (d) and then push all the way to the right into the holder (d) and hexagonal socket (e) (as far as it will go) (5,6).
