OPERATION

  1. LEVELLING THE BICYCLE EXERCISER. Place the exercise bike in the location it will be used. The floor should be hard and flat, and the bike should sit firmly on the floor. If the bike is not stable, turn the end caps on the Front strut (Part C) until the bike is stable. Turn one end cap at a time as it may only be necessary to adjust one.beatXP AB 110 BS Air Bike Exercise Cycle - Figure 15

  2. ADJUSTING THE TENSION. The BICYCLE EXERCISER has a tension control knob on the main Frame that can be turned to increase or decrease the tension. Turn clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease. The tension range can be increased or decreased by adjusting the tension step (Part 1). Turn the tension knob counterclockwise until it stops. Pull the tension strap through the strap’s buckle at the top of the mainframe to make the strap tighter around the fan disk, increasing the strength of the tension range. Loosen the strap to decrease it. Use the tension knob to make finer adjustments to the resistance.

  3. Wear the proper clothing. The user should wear clothes that are not restrictive and are comfortable.
NOTE: When wearing long pants, be sure the legs are not too loosely hanging so that they do not get caught in the chain sprocket.

  4. Wear suitable footwear. Rubber soled shoes and athletic socks are recommended.

  5. Place the exercise bike on a hard, flat surface in a convenient area. Be sure there is good air circulation at its location. It is recommended that the surface be easy to clean so that any residue from usage, such as perspiration, may be cleaned without a problem. The bike should not be used by children or handicapped persons without a qualified person in attendance.

  6. Diet is as important as exercising for good physical conditioning. The practice of good nutrition is essential for your fitness program.

  7. DO NOT OVER DO IT. Set goals you can achieve without overexertion.

  8. Always do a warm-up and cool down period before and after exercising. Start slow and finish slow.

  9. Consult with a physician before starting any exercise program or diet.

  10. HOW TO MAKE THE HANDLEBARS STATIONARY: The handlebars can be made stationary by unlocking the connecting bars from the pedal stems and hooking onto the pegs on the main Frame’s Front upright rod. Pull the “C” clip From the pedal stem. Remove the connecting bar from the pedal stem. Drop the connecting bar (Part W) From the pedal. When free from the pedal, swing the connecting bar forward and hock the notch in the edge of the connecting bar into a peg, located on the main frame’s upright rod. Be sure it is hooked firmly. Replace the “C” clip on the pedal stem so it will not be misplaced. Do the other side in the same manner.

WARNING: Consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. Children or handicapped persons should not use any exercise equipment without a qualified person in attendance.

Precautions:

  1. Check the pedal and its lock nut. Be sure they are always secured tightly.
  2. Periodically lubricate the moving parts with a lightweight household lubricant.
  3. Check all nuts, bolts and clamp assemblies to be sure they are tight and secure.
  4. Check the tension strap For wear and tear. Replacement straps are available through our service department.
  5. Check monitor batteries, Monitor uses “M” batteries (or uses AG-13 Batteries)

EXERCISE INSTRUCTIONS

Using your EXERCISE BIKE will provide you with several benefits. It will improve your physical fitness, tone muscle and in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet help you lose weight.

  1. The Warm up Phase
This stage helps get the blood flowing around the body and the muscles working properly. It also reduces the risk of cramp and muscle injury while exercising. It is advisable to do a few stretching exercises as shown below. Each stretch should be held for approximately 30 seconds, do not force or jerk your muscles into a stretch – if it hurts, STOP.beatXP AB 110 BS Air Bike
Exercise Cycle - Figure 18

  2. THE EXERCISE PHASE
This is the stage where you put the effort in. After regular use, the muscles in your legs will become more flexible. Workout speed depends on your comfort and needs but it is very important to maintain a steady tempo throughout. The rate of work should be enough to raise your heartbeat into the target zone shown on the graph below.beatXP AB 110 BS Air Bike Exercise Cycle - Figure
19This stage should last for a minimum of 12 minutes though most people start at about 15-20 minutes.

  3. THE COOL DOWN PHASE
This stage is to let your cardiovascular system and muscles wind down. This is a repeat of the warmup exercise e.g. reduce your tempo, continue for approximately 5 minutes. The stretching exercises should now be repeated, again remembering not to force or jerk your muscles in t o the stretch.
As you get fitter, you may need to train longer and harder. It is advisable to train at least three times a week and if possible, space your workouts evenly throughout the week.

MUSCLE TONING
To tone muscle while on your EXERCISE BIKE, you will need to have the resistance set quite high. This will put more strain on your leg muscles and may mean you cannot train for as long as you would like. IF you are also trying to improve your fitness you need to alter your training program. You should train as normal during the warm up and cool down phases, but towards the end of the exercise phase you should increase resistance making your legs work harder. You will have to reduce your speed to keep your heart rate in the target zone.
WEIGHT LOSS
The important factor here is the amount of effort you put in. The harder and longer you work the more calories you will burn. Effectively this is the same as if you were training to improve your fitness, the difference is the goal.

USING THE DISPLAY
The display has 4 different models to be able to track your workout details effectively. The details that you can access using the display are:

  1. Current Speed of Workout
  2. Time (Duration of Workout)
  3. Distance Covered
  4. Calories Burnt

When you first switch the display on, it is set by default to show speed and time. Pressing the MODE button repeatedly switches the display to show speed and distance, speed and calories burnt, and the Scan Mode respectively.
When you use the Scan Mode option, you can see several details simultaneously.
At the end of your workout or the start of your next, if you need to reset the readings on your meter, simply hold the mode button down for 5 seconds.
