Operation
Battery Installation
- Press and hold both sides of the battery door (2). Pull it backward and then lift it upward (see figure A).
- Remove the old batteries and install 2 new alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries of the type LR6 (AA) into the battery compartment (3). Pay attention to the proper polarity of the batteries. The polarity is marked on the housing of the device.
- Replace the battery door and close it after the batteries have been installed.
- Always replace both batteries at the same time. Never mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types.
Note: The cutter will not operate when either the battery door or the front cap are removed from the unit.
Using the Can Opener
- Place the can opener on top of the can with its rim positioned in the groove at the bottom of the can opener (see fig. B). Notes: The cutter will not operate unless it is positioned properly on the rim of the can. To open cans with tab, turn them upside-down, so that the can opener can work on the lid without tab.
- With the can on a flat surface, press the start button (1) for about one second and release it once the can opener starts to cut the can (see fig. C). After cutting, the can opener will stop automatically (see fig. D). Note: The maximum can size that can be fully cut in one cycle is 98 mm diameter. If you need to completely remove the lid of a bigger can, press the start button again and the can opener will resume cutting and stop automatically after cutting.
- When cutting is completed, lift the can opener off the can. A magnet (9) on the can opener will pick up the lid for your convenience (see fig. E). Note: There is a functional sharp edge on the round cutter. It should be treated with care.
Maintenance and Care
-
If the can opener slows during cutting, this may indicate a low battery level and the batteries should be replaced. If the can opener stops during operation, refer to the
chapter Trouble Shooting. -
To clean the cutter, first push back the battery door (2). The remove the front cap (5) (see fig. F). Wipe the cutter with a damp cloth or a sponge using a mild non-abrasive cleaner, followed by a clean and dry cloth and dry it completely. Replace the front cap and the battery door after cleaning.
Note: The front cap cannot be removed without pushing back the battery door as they are interlocked.
Troubleshooting
-
If the can opener is jammed due to low battery level or a deformed can rim, press and hold the reverse switch (4) at the rear of the can opener. The can opener will move in
the reverse direction and release the can.
Keep the reverse switch pressed until the can opener stops (see fig. G). -
If batteries are empty, the can opener may not be released by pressing the reverse switch. In this case, replace the batteries with a new set of batteries.
Caution! The can opener will automatically resume cutting when the battery door has been closed. -
Cans with heavy seams, odd shapes or uneven rims may stall the can opener.
If this happens, follow above procedure to release the can. Start the cutting action just beyond any minor bump or dent in a can.
Note: The can opener will not open rimless cans or cans with odd corners.
