Welcome to the world of COSMIC WAVE!

COSMIC WAVE is a compact, but epoch-making digital delay with multiple filter functions. This unit’s tone filter can process the delay sound to have a rich tone or conversely adjust it to be far from the original sound. The proprietary Cosmic filter creates an effect sound reminiscent of outer space, adding a new color to your delay sounds. We added new functions such as bit adjustment in which the number of output bits of the delay sound can be set in 1-bit units, from smooth and high-quality 24-bit to rough 8-bit sound that contains distorted noise. Enjoy the world of COSMIC WAVE with attractive new features.

Cosmic Filter and Multiple Filtering

Cosmic filter has an effect that gradually converges over time to the selected frequency band by applying our unique filtering process to delay sound. By setting the feedback amount more than usual, you can keep the delay sound ringing while creating sound changes by the Cosmic filter.
This unit can use its filter and equalizer simultaneously. The band-pass filter can limit the bandwidth of delay sound. Adjusting the bandwidth of the output drastically changes the sound when the original and delay sounds are mixed. There is no limit in delay sound variations achieved by the combination of this band-pass filter and 3-band equalizer, as well as the TONE control inserted in the delay’s feedback loop.

Factory Presets

The COSMIC WAVE is shipped with factory presets. They are stored in the user preset memory after No. 128 with the [ F: ] preset number prefix. Users can turn the DELAY TIME (PARAM) encoder to select and recall the desired factory preset.
Note that this factory preset area is protected against recall, write, or delete operation via MIDI signals.
Note that the parameters of the factory presets have already been copied into the user preset area to be used after being edited to the user’s preference.
For more details about the factory presets, please refer to the product page on our website.

How to Recall Presets

This unit provides 128 presets that can be recalled in several ways.

Switching between Presets 1 and 2 by TAP Footswitch

To switch between Presets 1 and 2, press the TAP footswitch for 0.5 seconds.

NOTE
If the TAP footswitch has been set to [PS 1-2] in the Global Setup screen, these two presets switch instantly at the moment when the footswitch is pressed.

Switching to Desired Preset from 128 Presets
  1. Press the HOME switch to show the HOME screen in which a preset number and preset name are displayed.

  2. Turn the DELAY TIME (PARAM) encoder until the desired preset number is shown on the display. The two red
LEDs above the TAP footswitch flash alternately. Note that the preset is not recalled at this point.

  3. Press the TAP footswitch to confirm the recalling operation of the preset. After confirmation, the two red LEDs stop flashing.

Recalling Preset via MIDI Signal

This unit’s presets can be switched by receiving a MIDI signal containing a program change number from an external MIDI device. The MIDI channel of the device that sends program change numbers must be the same as that of the MIDI channel of the COSMIC WAVE.

  1. Press the SAVE switch. The SAVE LED and the preset number display start flashing.
  2. Turn the DELAY TIME (PARAM) encoder until the display shows the desired preset number to which the edited setting should be stored.
  3. Press the SAVE switch to save the edited parameter in the preset.

NOTE
To cancel the save operation in the middle, press any of the HOME switch or the cursor ◀/▶ key other than the SAVE switch while the number shown in the display is flashing.
If a parameter of any stored preset is changed, a dot appears at the lower right side of the preset number’s first digit. When the edited parameter is saved to the preset, this dot disappears.

Display Contents

By pressing the HOME switch, the HOME screen and Operation screens 1–3 switch in order.

HOME screen

Shows a preset number and preset name.

Operation Screen 1

Shows the function of each knob or encoder and its parameter currently set.

MIX LEVEL:
Adjust the mix level of the original and delay sounds.
Turning the knob to the right increases the delay sound level.

FEEDBACK:
Adjusts the feedback amount of the delay. Turning the knob to the right increases the feedback amount and the number of delay sound repeats. Please note that if the feedback value exceeds 100, the volume will increase each time the loop repeats. (The output level limit can be set in Global Setup => Setting for FEEDBACK LIMIT.)

TONE:
Adjusts the tone (Timbre) of the delay sound. Turning the knob to the right emphasizes the treble and to the left suppress. If set to 0, the TONE function is turned off.

DEALY TIME:
Adjusts the delay time. Turning the encoder to the right increases the delay time and to the left decreases it.

Operation Screen 2

SUBDIVISION:
Sets the delay length as a note. By handling a quarter note as the reference for tempo, the delay time can be set as the duration of a note. The default value is Quarter note [Crochet]. You can select from: Whole note [Semibreve] (1), Half note [Minim] (2), Dotted Quarter note (.4), Triplet in four (4/3), Quarter note [Crochet] (4), Dotted Eighth note (.8), Triplet in two (2/3), Eighth note [Quaver] (8), Triplet in one (1/3), and Sixteenth note [Demi quaver] (16).
When the time display unit is “msec”, the delay time is automatically calculated and the displayed accordingly.
The display will not change when the time display unit is “BPM”.

DEPTH (MODULATION):
COSMIC WAVE can apply modulation to delay sound.
Turning the knob to the right makes the modulation deeper.

RATE (MODILATION):
Adjusts the speed of the modulation applied to the delay sound. Turning the knob to the right speeds up the modulation.

INVERT:
Set whether to output the delay sound in phase as the input signal or in reverse phase.
To output the delay sound in reverse phase, turn the encoder and select ON.

Operation Screen 3

Each of the L/C/R knobs is used to adjust the corresponding band. When the knob is set to the 12 o’clock position (value = 0), the equalizer is off. Turning it to the right is boost and the left is cut.
BASS (3 BAND EQ) :
Adjusts the tone of the bass register. The frequency to be adjusted can be selected in the Global Setup screen.
MIDDLE (3 BAND EQ) :
Adjusts the tone of the middle register. The frequency to be adjusted can be selected in the Global Setup screen.
TREBLE (3 BAND EQ) :
Adjusts the tone of the treble register. The frequency to be adjusted can be selected in the Global Setup screen.

PRE DELAY TIME:
Adjust the timing to output the delay sound. Output timing for the delay sound is delayed for the duration set in this screen. Turning the encoder to the right increases the delay time and turning it to the left decreases.
Delaying the timing at which the delay sound is output a little has the effect of making it easier to hear. Irregular delay sounds can be created by shifting the output timing significantly.
