UNBOXING
AFTER YOUR ORDER ARRIVES, PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE ALL ROLLERS, BRACKETS, END CAPS, AND HARDWARE ARE PRESENT AND IN THE CORRECT COLOR. IF ANY PIECES ARE MISSING OR INCORRECT, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US DIRECTLY AT: SALES@COYOTEROLLER.COM
LAYOUT
MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO OBJECTS NEAR THE FENCE THAT WILL AID ANIMALS IN GETTING
OVER (SHED, ROCKS, BUCKETS, ETC). WE RECOMMEND A MINIMUM FENCE HEIGHT OF 6FT
FOR OPTIMAL EFFECTIVENESS.
PLEASE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION HOW MANY ROLLERS AND BRACKETS WILL BE NEEDED
FOR EACH SECTION. IF ANY OF THE ROLLERS WILL NEED TO BE CUT, CONSIDER
ALTERNATE MOUNTING OPTIONS BELOW FOR BEST APPEARANCE.
*KEEP IN MIND ALL ROLLERS ARE SOLD IN 4FT LENGTHS.
-
LESS AESTHETICALLY PLEASING (QUICKEST)
-
BETTER LOOKING (MINIMAL EXTRA EFFORT)
-
BEST LOOKING (MORE CUTTING)
BRACKET ORIENTATION
LEFT AND RIGHT BRACKETS ARE TO BE USED AS A “CENTER” BRACKETS, AND ONLY ONE IS
NEEDED BETWEEN ROLLERS.
BE SURE TO ALTERNATE L & R BRACKETS WHEN USING AS A “CENTER” SO YOU DON’T RUN
OUT OF ONE SIDE PREMATURELY.

Installation
STEP 1: BRACKET PLACEMENT
START AT THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR FENCE AND PLACE A LEFT HAND BRACKET UP TO THE TOP EDGE. INSTALL THE FIRST BRACKET AS CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF YOUR FENCE WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE INTEGRITY OF THE MOUNTING SURFACE (I.E. DRILLING TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE). WITH A TAPE MEASURE BE SURE THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 1-1/4” BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE FENCE AND THE ROLL PIN ON THE BRACKET. WHILE HOLDING THE BRACKET IN THE CORRECT POSTITION, VERIFY THE ROLLER IS LEVEL, THEN MARK THE LOCATION OF THE HOLES FOR THE HARDWARE TO BE INSTALLED.
STEP 2: HARDWARE INSTALLATION
DRILL THE TWO MARKS PREVIOUSLY MADE WITH A 1/4” BIT. PLACE YOUR BRACKET UP TO THE FENCE ALIGNING THE DRILLED HOLES WITH THE HOLES IN THE BRACKET. FASTEN WITH THE INCLUDED BOLT, WASHER, AND NUT. TIGHTEN BOTH SETS OF HARDWARE WITH A 7/16” WRENCH. IF THE BOLT SPINS, USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE BACK SIDE WHILE TIGHTENING.
STEP 3: SECOND BRACKET PLACEMENT AND SPACING
PLACE A ROLLER ON THE PREVIOUSLY MOUNTED BRACKET ALONG WITH A RIGHT HANDED
BRACKET ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROLLER. HOLD THE BRACKET AND ROLLER UP TO THE
FENCE TO MARK YOUR SECOND BRACKET LOCATION. PUSH THE ROLLER AGAINST THE LEFT
BRACKET. WHILE HOLDING THE ROLLER, ADJUST THE RIGHT BRACKET SO YOU HAVE
1/4”BETWEEN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROLLER AND THE ARM OF THE RIGHT BRACKET (SEE
PIC BELOW). CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE ROLLER IS LEVEL, THEN MARK THE TWO RIGHT
HAND BRACKET HOLES WITH A SHARPIE.
STEP 4: PUTTING UP THE FIRST ROLLER
DRILL OUT THE MARKED HOLES PREVIOUSLY MADE IN STEP 3 FOR THE SECOND BRACKET.
PLACE THE ROLLER ON THE LEFT HANDED BRACKET PIN WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY ALIGNING
THE DRILLED HOLES OF THE RIGHT BRACKET. INSTALL YOUR HARDWARE AND TIGHTEN TO
SECURE THE 1ST ROLLER IN PLACE.
REPEAT THIS PROCESS ALONG THE ENTIRE FENCE.
CUTTING ROLLERS
COYOTE ROLLERS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SO THEY CAN BE CUT DOWN TO AS SMALL AS 2”.
THEY CAN BE CUT ON ANY PORTION OF THE ROLLER.
FOR THE CLEANEST AND STRAIGHTEST CUT WE RECOMMEND USING A CHOP SAW WITH A FINE
TOOTH NON-FERROUS METAL BLADE. THIS WILL LEAVE MINIMAL BURRS AND SHARP EDGES.
OPTIONALLY YOU CAN USE A BASIC HACKSAW WITH A METAL BLADE. THIS DOESN’T ALWAYS
CUT PERFECTLY STRAIGHT, BUT IT WILL GET THE JOB DONE.
ONCE CUT YOU WILL WANT TO TAKE A DEBURRING TOOL OR FILE TO CLEAN UP ANY SHARP
EDGES OR METAL FILINGS STUCK TO THE END OF THE ROLLER.
BEFORE CUTTING YOUR ROLLER, KEEP IN MIND THAT EACH END CAP ADDS 1/4” TO THE
LENGTH OF THE ROLLER ONCE INSTALLED.
END CAP INSTALLATION
END CAP INSTALLATION IS AN EASY PROCESS ONLY REQUIRING A RUBBER MALLET. BE SURE THE ROLLER IS FREE OF METAL BURRS OR FILINGS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ISNTALLATION. WITH THE ROLLER END FACING UPWARDS, SEAT THE END CAP INSIDE THE ROLLER. WHILE HOLDING THE ROLLER TAKE A RUBBER MALLET AND HIT THE CAP TILL FULLY SEATED.
END CAP REMOVAL
REMOVING THE END CAPS CAN ONLY BE DONE AFTER A ROLLER IS CUT. THEY ARE A
“PRESS FIT” AND NOT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE FROM A 4FT ROLLER WITHOUT DAMAGING THE
ROLLER, END CAP, OR BOTH.
ONCE THE ROLLER IS CUT TO LENGTH, USE A BROOM HANDLE, SHOVEL HANDLE, OR 1” PVC
PIPE LONG ENOUGH TO REACH THE BACK SIDE OF THE END CAP INSIDE THE ROLLER.
PLACE THE HANDLE ON THE GROUND AND SLIDE THE ROLLER FORCEFULLY DOWN UNTIL IT
COMES INTO CONTACT WITH THE END CAP. THIS MAY TAKE SEVERAL TRIES, BUT THE END
CAP WILL EVENTUALLY POP OUT.
PRO TIPS
CUTTING THE ROLL PIN:
TO GET YOUR BRACKETS AS CLOSE TO WALLS OR FENCE POSTS AS POSSIBLE, CONSIDER
CUTTING ONE SIDE OF THE ROLL PIN. THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH A HACKSAW OR ANGLE
GRINDER WITH CUT OFF WHEEL.
LUBRICANT
ROLLERS ARE DESIGNED TO SPIN WITH VERY MINIMAL PRESSURE, BUT A GOOD LUBRICANT CAN BE APPLIED INSIDE THE END CAPS DURING INSTALLATION FOR A BUTTERY SMOOTH SPIN. IN ADDITON, USING PETROLEUM JELLY IN COOL CLIMATES CAN REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF YOUR ROLLERS FROM FREEZING.
- GRAPHITE-GENERAL PURPOSE USE
- GREASE-WARM CLIMATE USE (WONT MELT)
- PETROLEUM JELLY- COLD CLIMATE (WONT FREEZE)
