BHL Luminaire
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
General Identification of BHL Luminaire IMPORTANT: Wear cotton gloves AND lift and handle the luminaire from the ends to avoid damaging or soiling the lens surface. Should the lens surface become smudged or otherwise blemished, clean using only a soft, microfiber cotton cloth.
**Grid Ceiling Install (FG,TG)
**
-
Ensure grid spacing is accurate.
BHL 2’ intended for 0’-6” X 2’-0” O.C. grid
BHL 4’ intended for 0’-6” X 4’-0” O.C. grid -
Tilt and push the BHL luminaire through the intended spacing from the bottom. Angle the luminaire to clear the insulation detectors, if applicable. The luminaire ceiling flange should then overlap the room-facing grid piece.
-
For IP66 required applications Sealant or gasket must be field applied between overlap flange and grid rail to ensure room seal. Acuity Brands is not responsible for materials or installation that would ensure IP66 room rating.
Illustrated above is (FG) flat tee grid install. All step apply to (FG) and (TG). See step 6 for (TG) trim illustration. -
Locate the (4) grid support and alignment brackets. For your application select which tab height that will work best. Bend the tab 90 degrees to hold the fixture in place.
Support luminaire using a hole in grid bracket and tie luminaire to the structure. Luminaire must be supported by more than grid rails -
Locate and remove the access plate to the wire fixture. See the control wiring section for application-specific instructions.
-
Example of (TG) tegular tile install. All pervious steps are applicable to TG installation as well.
**Mud in Hard Ceiling Install (GB)
**
-
Check rough cut size and blocking is in place.
Blocking should be spaced 5-1/2” inches apart in all applications
BHL 2’ rough cut should be 0’-’5 ¼” X 1’-23 ¼”
BHL 4’ rough cut should be 0’-’5 ¼” X 3’-23 ¼” -
Locate and remove access plate to wire fixture. For the GB application the fixture must be wired before installation See control wiring section for application
-
Push luminaire into ceiling rough cut. Center the luminaire within the hole.
-
Fasten the luminaire to the ceiling using provided countersunk holes. Must fasten to blocking/structure behind visible ceiling. Ceiling fasteners by others, countersunk holes sized for #8 or #10 flat head screw.
-
Remove the ceiling trim and diffuser by removing the #8 TR15 fasteners.
-
Store the ceiling trim, diffuser, and fasteners for post mud installation. By removing these components, you reduce the risk to of mudding the luminaire closed or getting ceiling paint on the luminaire.
-
Using provided ridged trim to mud into ceiling. Avoid getting material into empty cavity where the diffuser and trim will be placed back in.
-
Reinstall the diffuser, ceiling trim and fasteners. Fasteners should be torqued to 17 in/lbs. Improper /installation of door and diffuser will not allow for IP66 room seal
**Flanged Hard Ceiling Install (FL)
**
