Network topology

Tips
The access point (AP) supports Standard PoE Supply and Passive PoE Supply.

  • For Standard PoE Power Supply, connect the PoE port of the AP to the PoE power supply device using an Ethernet cable (CAT5e or better, s 100 m). Scan the QR code in Appendix A Get support and services to view the PoE power supply standards (such as IEEE 802.3af, IEEE 802.3at) supported by the AP.
  • For passive PoE power supply, connect the PoE port of the AP to the PoE injector (placed indoors) using an Ethernet cable (CAT5e or better, s 50 m), and ensure that the output voltage of the PoE injector is within the input voltage range indicated on the AP.

Attach antennas

Tips
The appearances and accessories of APs vary with models. Some models of APs are equipped with antennas. Attach antennas when required.

  1. Remove and discard the two plastic caps.
NOTE: Ensure the rubber gaskets remain in place for waterproofing.

  2. Connect the antennas to the SMA connectors.

Tips
To achieve optimal performance, it is recommended that you position the antennas at 45-degree angles (as shown in the following figure).

Select the instalation method based on the actual environment and product model. For the supported installation methods, scan the Product Documents QR code in Appendix A to view the Quick Installation Guide of the target products.

Option 1 Wall mounting

Tips:

  • Before installation, prepare the AP, brackets, plastic anchors, screws, anti-theft Screw, and grounding screws.
  • You may need a rubber hammer, a marker, a hammer drill, a drill bit, and a screwdriver for the installation. Please prepare them yourselfí.
  1. Place the bracket (with the anti-theft hole upward) on the wall for installation, and mark the screw hole positions with a marker.
  2. Drill out the holes using a drill bit. Use a rubber hammer to knock the plastic anchors into the holes one by one.
  3. Secure the wall-mounted bracket on the wall by using the screws.IP-COM-IUAPACMV2 802.11AC-Indoor-or-Outdoor-WiFi Access-Point -05
  4. Attach the AP to the wall-mounted bracket by sliding the mounting tabs to the bottom of the slots.
  5. Use a screwdriver to fix the anti-theft screw to the anti-theft hole.
Option 2 Pole mounting

Tips: Before installation, prepare the AP, grounding screws, and straps {or damps, hoops).

Configure the AP

Tips:

  • This section briefly introduces three methods to configure the AP. For details, scan the Product Documents QR code in Appendix A to view the Quick Installation Guide of the target products.
  • When managing the AP through ProFi Software Controller or ProFi App/Cloud, you can choose only one of the two methods.
Method 1: Through ProFi Software Controller

Visit www.ip-com.com.cn to download ProFi Software Controller to your computer for management. For details, please refer to the ProFi Software Controller’s user guide.

Method 2: Through ProFi App/ProFi Cloud

Tips:

  • Before managing the AP through the ProFi App, please ensure that:
  • The AP can be managed by the ProFi App. You can judge by the QR code of the ProFi App on the AP.
  • The AP is connected to the internet.

Scan the QR code below to download the ProFi App. Follow the instructions on the App to manage the AP.

-10Scan to download ProFi App

After you add the AP to ProFi App, the data will be synchronized to the web Ul of ProFi Cloud (imsen.ip-com.com.cn). Then, you can also remotely manage the AP through ProFi Cloud.

Method 3: Through an IP-COM hardware

Controller If there is an IP-COM hardware controller (an IP-COM AP controller or an IP-COM router with AP management function) in the LAN, you can manage the APs in batches through the hardware controller. For details, please refer to the hardware controller’s user guide.

Method 4: Through web Ul of the AP

If no devices in the LAN can manage the AP, you can manage the AP through its own web UI.

Tips:

  • When you need to configure multiple APs in the LAN, to avoid IP address conflict, connect and configure one AP (including the change of IP address) first, then repeat the steps to configure other APs.
  • Record the changed IP addresses of APs for subsequent management.
  1. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the management computer to a switch which is connected to the AP. Set the IP address of the management computer to the same network segment as that of the AP (default: 192.168.0.254). For example, the IP address of the AP is 192.168.0.254, set the IP address of the management computer to 192.168.0.X (X ranges from 2 to 253 and is not occupied by other devices) and Subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
  2. Start a web browser on the management computer, and access the IP address of the AP to manage it.

Appendix C FAQ

Q1.Icannot access the web Ul of the AP after entering 192.168.0.254. What should I do?
A1. Try the following solutions:

  • Check if your Ethernet cables are connected properly.
  • Ensure that the IP address of the computer and the IP address of the AP are in the same network segment.
  • For example, if the IP address of the AP is 192.168.0.254, the IP address of the computer should be 192.168.0.X(X: 2 to 253), and the IP address is not used by any other devices in the network.
  • If the AP has been managed by AP controllers (AC) or routers that support AP management, the AP will automatically obtain its IP address from the DHCP server in the network. In this case, go to the client ist of the DHCP server to view the IP address obtained by the AP, and then log in to the AP’s web UI using the new IP address.
  • If the problem persists, refer to Q4 to reset the AP.

Q2. The AP controller (AC) cannot find the AP. What should I do?
A2. Try the following solutions:

  • Ensure that all the devices in the network are connected properly and the AP has completed startup.
  • If VLANs have been defined in your network, verify that the corresponding VLAN has been added to your AC.
  • Reboot the AP
  • Ensure that the firmware versions of your AP and AP controller (AC) are the same with the latest firmware versions available on www.ip-com.com.cn.
  • Refer to Q4 to reset your AP.

Q3. I forgot the user name and password when logging in to the web UI of the AP. What should I do?
A3. Use the default login information (username and password are both admin) to log in to the web Ul of the AP. If it does not work, reset the AP (refer to Q4), and then use the default login information to log in.

Q4. How to reset the AP?
A4. When the AP is idle (for example, not upgrading), hold down the reset button (Reset for example) for about 8 seconds. The AP will be restored to factory settings.
Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

The warning and danger items in other documents do not cover all the safe precautions that must be followed. They are only supplementary information. The installation and maintenance personnel need to understand the basic safety precautions to be taken.

  • If the AP has wall mounting or pole mounting holes, the AP is only suitable for mounting at a height of 1.5 m 5m.
  • Do not use the AP in a place where wireless devices are not allowed.
  • Ensure that the input voltage is within the input range indicated on the AP.
  • Keep the AP away from water, fire, high electric field, high magnetic field, and inflammable and explosive items.
  • The AP should be powered off during installation.
  • If such phenomena as smoke, abnormal sound or smell appear when you use the AP, immediately stop using it and disconnect its power supply, unplug all connected cables, and contact the after-sales service personnel.
  • Disassembling or modifying the AP or its accessories without authorization voids the warranty, and might cause safety hazards.
