Precautions

Location
Using the unit in the following locations can result in a malfunction.

  • In direct sunlight.
  • Locations of extreme temperature or humidity.
  • Excessively dusty or dirty locations.
  • Locations of excessive vibration.
  • Close to magnetic fields.

Power supply

  • Be sure to turn the power switch to OFF when the unit is not in use. Remove the battery in order to prevent it from leaking when the unit is not in use for extended periods.
  • Interference with other electrical devices
  • Radios and televisions placed nearby may experience reception interference. Operate this unit at a suitable distance from radios and televisions.

Handling
To avoid breakage, do not apply excessive force to the switches or controls.

Care
If the exterior becomes dirty, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners such as benzene or thinner, or cleaning compounds or
flammable polishes.

Installing the batteries

Make sure to turn the power off before you install or replace the batteries.
When the batteries are almost depleted, the green LED in the tuning LED meter will blink. When this happens, install new batteries as soon as possible to ensure accurate tuningKORG-CS-RD-Custom-Series-Tuner-Red-

  1. Open the battery cover, located on the back of the tuner
  2. Insert the batteries, making sure to observe the correct polarity.
  3. Return the battery cover to its original position.

Preparation

Connect the instrument to be tuned to the INPUT jack, and connect the effect pedal, amp, etc., to the OUTPUT jack.

  • Turn off the power of all devices before you make any connections to avoid damaging your equipment.
  • The INPUT and OUTPUT jacks are mono. Stereo (TRS) cables will not work.

When using the internal mic for tuning, make sure nothing is connected to the INPUT and OUTPUT jacks. The internal mic cannot be used when a device is connected.

Tuning

  1. Press the power button. The power will turn on/off each time you press this button.
    The calibration setting will appear in the note name display for a few seconds (light → blinking).
    In addition, the green LED in the tuning LED meter will light up. If the power is left on for approximately 3 minutes without any user input, it will turn off automatically.

  2. If desired, adjust the calibration and/or select the display mode.

  3. Play a single note on your instrument and tune it so that the desired note appears in the note name display.
    The note name closest to the entered note appears in the note name display.

  4. Tune your instrument using the tuning LED meter.
    The method for indicating whether your instrument is in tune, sharp or flat depends on which display mode you choose.

    • Even if the pitch is within the range of detection, it may not be possible to detect the pitch of an instrumental sound that contains large numbers of overtones or a sound that has a rapid decay.

Adjusting the calibration
The GA Custom comes from the factory with the calibration set to A=440Hz. If an adjustment is necessary, you can do so within a range of 436–445Hz.

  1. Press the CALIB button.
    The current calibration setting will blink for several seconds in the note namedisplay (Light → Blink).

  2. While the current calibration setting is shown in the note name display, press the CALIB button again to adjust the setting. Each time you press the CALIB button you will cycle through the following settings. 0: 440 Hz, 1: 441 Hz, 2: 442 Hz, 3: 443 Hz, 4: 444 Hz, 5: 445 Hz, 6: 436 Hz, 7: 437 Hz, 8: 438 Hz, 9: 439 Hz

  3. After you have selected your desired calibration setting, wait ap-proximately two seconds without pressing any buttons.

The new setting will blink three times in the note name display indicat-ing the calibration has been set. The GA Custom will automatically return to tuner mode. The calibration setting will be remembered even if the power is turned off. How-ever, this setting will be reset to the factory default if the batteries are removed.

Setting the display mode
The GA Custom allows you to choose one of three display mode settings. The factory setting is Regular mode.

  1. Press the DISPLAY button.
    The current setting will blink for several seconds in the note display (Light → Blink).

  2. When the setting is shown in the note name display, press the Display button again to set the display mode.
    Each time you press the DISPLAY button you will cycle through the following settings.

Regular
Tune your instrument until the green LED in the LED meter is lit. The blue LEDs at the right will light up if the pitch is high, and the blue LEDs at the bottom will light left if the pitch is low.KORG-CS-RD-Custom-Series-Tuner-

Strobe
Tune your instrument until the LEDs stop running. Since the strobe meter has higher precision, it allows you to tune with greater accuracy. The illumination will flow from left to right if the pitch is high, or from right to left if the pitch is low.KORG-CS-RD-Custom-Series-Tuner-Red-

Half-strobe
Tune your instrument until the LEDs stop running and only the green LED is lit. The blue LEDs at the right will strobe if the pitch is high, and the blue LEDs at the left will strobe if the pitch is low. When the pitch is in tune, only the green LED is lit.KORG-CS-RD-Custom-Series-Tuner-Red-

  • After you’ve chosen the display mode you would like to use, wait approximately two seconds without pressing any buttons.
  • The note name display will blink two times, the display mode will be set, and the GA Custom will automatically return to tuner mode.
  • The display mode setting will be remembered even if the power is turned off. However, this setting will be reset to the factory default if the batteries are removed.
