INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
JFX™ Series DMX 4-Channel Decoder
JFX Series DMX 4 Channel Decoder
WARNING: This DMX Decoder should only be powered by ACCUDRIVE ™ JFX Series Class 2, 24VDC Drivers. Use of non-ACCUDRIVE™ drivers may damage DMX decoder and void warranty. See Drivers & DMX Decoder Spec sheet for more detailed information. Failure to follow instructions will void product warranty.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Read all these instructions before starting installation.
- Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
- Only qualified electricians in accordance with local codes should install these fixtures.
- De-energize electrical circuit at circuit breaker prior to installation process. Always ensure power is off before making any changes to installation.
- Do not connect directly to high voltage power. Must be connected to approved Class 2 LED driver.
- Do not disassemble or modify these products beyond instructions or warranty will be voided.
- Only install in an Indoor dry location.
- Ensure wire gauge used from driver to decoder and decoder to LED strip is sufficient to maintain a voltage drop under 3% (See Spec Sheet for details).
- Maximum of 10x DMX Decoders may be connected via RJ45 DMX connection ports (DMX Output). DMX signal may be extended further by installing a DMX 8-way splitter after the 10th DMX Decoder.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. (DMX – System Installation)
Once mounting locations are determined for the LED driver junction box, DMX Decoder, and LED strips refer to DMX wiring guide (Figure 1). CAT5 / RJ45 data cables are recommended for transmitting DMX-512 signal. XLR-3 cables may be installed but require an additional adapter for connecting to DMX decoder.
Step 2a. (DMX – Standard Operation)
Adjust the following settings using the 3 buttons on the DMX start channel to
adjust the values of the DMX address. The decoder will control up to 512
channels (Figure 2).
a. To set the DMX address, press and hold ‘button 1’ for 2 seconds until
numbers on the display flash.
b. Select an address based on the functionality of the master DMX controller.
Once an address is selected, the remaining 3 channels will be utilized
digitally. Ex. If decoder is addressed to 001 on the display, then CH1- 001,
CH2 – 002, CH3 – 003, CH4 – 004.
c. Once display stops flashing, DMX address is set.
Step 2b. (DMX – Advanced Operation)
Advanced operation should only be performed by professional DMX installers. The DMX channels can be adjusted, which allows the user to conserve DMX addresses that may be wasted when programming a large DMX installation. The factory default is 4CH: 4 channels (address 001 – 004). See charts for 1CH, 2CH, 3CH, & 4CH settings (Figure 3).
Step 3. (DMX – Adjust Channel Settings)
a. Press and hold buttons 2 and 3 simultaneously for 2 seconds until ‘cH’ flashes on the display (Figure 2 & Figure 4).
b. Press button 1 to choose 1, 2, 3, or 4 channel outputs (Figure 5)
c. Press and hold any button for greater than 2 seconds to set channel output.
Step 4. (DMX – Adjusting PWM Frequency & Dimming Type)
PWM frequency and dimming type can be adjusted for special applications.
a. Press and hold buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously for 2 seconds until ‘P_c’
flashes on display (Figure 2 & Figure 6).
b. Press button 1 to choose PWM output type (Figure 7).
c. Press button 3 to choose dimming type (Figure 7).
d. Once display stops flashing, PWM and dimming are set.
PWM & Dimming (P_c)|
---|---
PWM Output (P)| Dimming Output (c)
1=1500Hz| 1= Logarithmic Dimming
2 = 200Hz| 2 = Linear Dimming
Figure 7
Note: RGBW installations will only operate correctly with consistent color
output when programed to P1 (1500Hz PWM Output) and c2 (Linear Dimming).
