AIRSONICS 4960R Mesh WiFi Router
Airties Vision app is new and the recommended app to use
Download the Airties Vision app (search Airties vision in app stores)
Launch it
Scan the QR code on the AP in order to direct the app to the Airsonics Global environment before login using your SelFi login/pswd or create a new account.
Router Specification
- WAN (GigE)
- Internet only (default)
- Internet + IPTV (web UI configuration)
- LAN 1 GigE port (default subnet 192.168.1.1 Fw ver.2.88 or before, 192.168.111.1 ver. 2.104 or higher)
- Mesh Wi-Fi
- Concurrent dual-band 11ax Wi-Fi6
- 5GHz (4×4 80MHz) and 2.4 GHz (2×2 20/40MHz)
- MAX data rate 5GHz band in the same room iPhone 11 2×2 650Mbps assuming no other traffic
- MAX data rate 2.4GHz band in the same room 2×2 11ax device 150Mbps
- Hybrid Wi-Fi and Ethernet Mesh link
- Frequency band steering and client roaming
- iOS and Android consumer app (Airties Vision)
- Remote Manager prd.airsonicscloud.com/rman/HORIZON/
- TR-069 ACS
Installation Steps
- Cleanup the app by removing router and APs from previous installs
- Install the router first
- Upgrade Software (out of the box)
- Factory Reset if re-use
- Set up the Wi-Fi name/pswd (Vision/RM)
- Verify coverage
- Vision/RM
- Add AP(s) as needed
- Customer EDUCATION
Clean up your app by removing extenders (Vision)
- Highly recommend to remove the previously installed Router and APs (called Extenders in the app) prior to the new install.
Router Installation (4960R)
- Connect the Ethernet WAN port to the ONT
- Power up the router (up in <45 seconds indicated by BLUE LED)
- Wait for the LED to turn solid GREEN indicating it has received its WAN IP address (up to 30 seconds)
- Connect mobile device or laptop to the AP via default Wi-Fi ssid/pswd on the label or physical LAN port
- Bring up a browser (Chrome or Safari) and type 192.168.1.1 to access the admin UI…please note if the unit is a new version 192.168.1.1 will not work, use 192.168.111.1
- User admin
- Password (wifi pswd on the label)
Force a Software Upgrade
- NOTE: 4960R router will automatically check for an update 15 minutes after the power up.
- Manual step is to force an update if it hasn’t been 15 minutes since power up
Ensuring Router Factory Default Mode
- Power up
- Blue color LED represents default mode and flashing GREEN followed by RED color indicates NOT in default mode
- Factory reset the router by pressing the WPS button for 15+ seconds or until LED fast flash WHITE
Router Installation – Wi-Fi setup
- Launch Vision app or Login to your RM account
- Scan the large QR label on the back of the device when the app guides to do so
- Change the Wi-Fi SSID/Password to what the customer prefers
Note: Recommend to use the existing customer Wi-Fi settings to avoid reconfiguring all the client devices.
Coverage Analysis #1 (Vision app)
- Make sure dual mode devices are connected at 5Ghz band in every
- Make sure customer devices are connecting to the APs at >>50% of their MAX rate
AP Quantity and Placement
- AP coverage ≈ 1200 sq. ft
- RF signal propagates vertically to cover upper and lower floors directly above AP or below.
Add an AP to fix coverage problem (Vision)
- Use + on the Home screen to
- Follow the placement guide and pairing instructions (scan QR) in the app to turn up the mesh node
- Verify coverage improvements
Mesh Link Check #1 (Vision app)
- Select the Map screen
- Click Advanced
- Make sure the rate between the router and the AP is running at 1 Gbps or higher.
Customer ED Checklist
- 100% sure NO ROGUE Wi-Fi extender or router powered up in the house
- Internet speed test from a Wi-Fi device is not the same as speed test from the physical LAN port
- Disable “Private Address” in your iPhone/iPad or Android device
- Device doesn’t connect with the same SSID and password:
- Forget This Network and re-add
- Power cycle the client device
- Update the wifi driver in the device (e.g. Intel driver pre-2019 does not connect to 11ax routers)
- Sometimes certain app (Ring, Rakuten, etc.) not working doesn’t = to an internet or Wi-Fi issue. Customers should:
- Learn how to reset and re-launch apps on their device
- “DO NOT RESET” router, in case of any major issue such as RED LEDs before calling the support line first power cycle there is a power button on the back
