Assembly Instructions

start here

  1. Find a clear area in which you can work.
  2. Unpack fixture from carton.
  3. Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.

The construction of this fixture will be accomplished by first assembling the main body of the fixture, making all necessary electrical connections, hanging the fixture from the ceiling and then installing the fixture glass.

SAFTEY WARNING: READ WIRING AND GROUND INSTRUCTIONS  (I.S.18) AND ANY ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. TURN POWER SUPPLY OFF DURING INSTALLATION. IF NEW WIRING IS REQUIRED, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR CODE REQUIREMENTS.

Note: It will be necessary to determine the length of rods you will require to hang your fixture at the desired height. After this has been established, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Slip first stem section (B) along wire and thread into top of main fixture body (A) .
  2. Slip next section of stem (C) along wire and thread into top of previously installed stem – see Drawing 1 .
  3. Continue adding sections of stem until all necessary lengths have been attached to the fixture.
  4. Fixture can now be mounted to the ceiling by following mounting instruction sheet (63306MI ) provided.
  5. After fixture is installed it can be lamped accordingly.

Drawing 1 – Assembly

  1. Find a clear area in which you can work.
  2. Unpack fixture and glass from carton.
  3. Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.

NOTE: i t is recommended that the fixture body be installed prior to installing the glass. This can be accomplished by following instruction sheet (63306IM) provided. After installation is complete please return to this sheet for instructions on how the glass is installed.

SAFETY WARNING: READ WIRING AND GROUNDING INSTRUC-TIONS (I.S. 18) AND ANY ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. TURN POWER SUPPLY OFF DURING INSTALLATION. IF NEW WIRING IS REQUIRED, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR CODE REQUIREMENTS.

Make electrical connections from supply wire to fixture lead wires. Refer to instruction sheet (1.S. 18) and follow all instructions to make all necessary wiring connections. Then refer back to this sheet to complete installation of this fixture

  1. To install glass, first remove socket ring (1) followed by flat washer (2) from the socket (S) in the fixture body see Drawing 1.

  2. Now slip glass (3) up into the fixture body and making sure small hole in top of glass slips over the socket (S).

  3. Hold glass in position and slip washer (2) over socket. Then thread on socket ring (1) removed earlier to secure the glass.
Note: make sure threaded side of socket ring is up when threading on to sOcket.

  4. Fixture is complete and a bulb can now be installed.

  1. Shut off electrical current before starting. If the fixture you are replaCing is turned on and off by a wall switch, simply turn the switch off. If not, remove the appropriate fuse (or open the circuit breakers) until the fixture is dead.
  • DO NOT restore current either by fuse, breaker or switch- until the new fixture is completely wired and in place.
  1. To assemble fixture it is necessary to first remove the couplers (C) from the canopy (D)- see Drawing 1. NOTE: re-enforcement bracket (R) located in canopy will be loose after couplers (C) are removed. Make sure this is reattached later.
    Drawing 1 – Swivel Removal

  2. This is accomplished by removing hex nut (N) and lock washer (L) form the threaded portion of coupler (C), and removing the coupler from hole (H) of the canopy.

  3. Set removed parts aside to be used later during the assembly process.

  4. To attach canopy first thread coupler (C) onto end of stems attached to the fixture. Note: supply wire will slip through one of the couplers (C). see Drawing 2.
    Drawing 2 – Canopy Assembly

  5. Slip threaded portion of coupler through mounting holes (H) in canopy (D) and through hole in re-enforcement plate (R), attach by slipping lockwasher (L) over end of threaded portion of coupler (C) a threading on hex nut (N), and tightening to secure coupler (C) to canopy. Make sure to attach inspection cable (K) to canopy.

Drawing 3 – Fixture Installation

  1. To mount fixture to ceiling, first attached mounting bracket (1) to junction box (J) mounted in the ceiling – see DRAWING 3.
  2. Next thread center threaded tube (3) into center hole in mounting bracket (1) approximately 1/2″ (12.5mm).
  3. Now with assistance take the assembled fixture and lift it up and using hook on end of inspection cable, hook it into the mounting strap. Now slowly release the fixture until it is safely hanging from the inspection cable see DETAIL 1.
  4. Now make all necessary electrical connections follow instruction sheet (IS18) provided.
  5. After all connection are made, tuck wires into junction box and lift fixture and slide threaded tube (3) through center hole in canopy and hold canopy in position.
  6. Now thread knob (5) onto end of threaded tube (3) and tighten to secured fixture to ceiling.

Indoor Fixtures

  1. Connect positive supply wire (A) (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to positive fixture lead with appropriately sized twist on connector – see  Drawings 1 or 2
    Drawin g 1 – Flush Mount

  2. Connect negative supply wire ( C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead ( D).

  3. Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections

Outdoor Fixtures

  1. Connect positive supply wire ( A) (typically black or the smooth unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to positive fixture lead ( B) with appropriately sized twist on connector — – see Drawings 2 or 3.
    Drawin g 2 – Chain Hun g Drawin g 3 – Post-Mount

  2. Connect negative supply wire ( C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead ( D).

  3. Cover open end of connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.

    • If installing a wall mount fixture, use caulk to seal gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall. This will help prevent water from entering the outlet box. If the wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform specially.
  4. Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.

grounding instructions

Flush Mount Fixtures
For positive grounding in a 3-wire electrical system, fasten the fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the fixture mounting strap (M) with the ground screw (S) – see Drawing 1 .
Note: On straps for screw supported fixtures, first install the two mounting screws in strap. Any remaining tapped hole may be used for the ground screw .

Chain Hung Fixtures
Loop fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) under the head of the ground screw (S) on fixture mounting strap (M) and connect to the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground w ire of the building system with appropriately sized twist-on connectors – see Drawing 2 .

Post-Mount Fixtures

Connect fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) to power supply ground with appropriately sized twist-on connector inside post. Cover open end of connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal – see Drawing 3 .
