READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS! SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND DELIVER TO OWNER AFTER INSTALLATION

  • To reduce the risk of death, personal injury or property damage from fire, electric shock, falling parts, cuts/abrasions, and other hazards please read all warnings and instructions included with and on the fixture box and all fixture labels.
  • Before installing, servicing, or performing routine maintenance upon this equipment, follow these general precautions.
  • Installation and service of luminaires should be performed by a qualified licensed electrician.
  • Maintenance of the luminaires should be performed by person(s) familiar with the luminaires’ construction and operation and any hazards involved. Regular fixture maintenance programs are recommended.
  • It will occasionally be necessary to clean the outside of the retractor/lens. Frequency of cleaning will depend on ambient dirt level and minimum light output which is acceptable to user. Retractor/lens should be washed in a solution of warm water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed with clean water and wiped dry. Should optical assembly become dirty on the inside, wipe retractor/lens and clean in above manner, replacing damaged gaskets as necessary.
  • DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCT! This luminaire has been properly packed so that no parts should have been damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm. Any part damaged or broken during or after assembly should be replaced.
  • Recycle: For information on how to recycle LED electronic products, please visit www.epa.gov.
  • These instructions do not purport to cover all details or variations in equipment nor to provide every possible contingency to meet in connection with installation, operation, or maintenance. Should further information be desired or should particular problems arise which are not covered sufficiently for the purchaser’s or owner’s purposes, this matter should be referred to Acuity Brands Lighting, Inc .

WARNING RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

✓ Disconnect or turn off power before installation or servicing.
✓ Verify that supply voltage is correct by comparing it with the luminaire label information.
✓ Make all electrical and grounded connections in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local code requirements.
✓ All wiring connections should be capped with UL approved recognized wire connectors.

WARNING RISK OF BURN

✓ Allow lamp/fixture to cool before handling. Do not touch enclosure or light source.
✓ Do not exceed maximum wattage marked on luminaire label.
✓ Follow all manufacturer’s warnings, recommendations and restrictions for: driver type, burning position, mounting locations/methods, replacement and recycling.

CAUTION RISK OF INJURY

✓ Wear gloves and safety glasses at all times when removing luminaire from carton, installing, servicing or performing maintenance.
✓ Avoid direct eye exposure to the light source while it is on.

  CAUTION: RISK OF PRODUCT DAMAGE

✓ Never connect components under load.
✓ Do not mount or support these fixtures in a manner that can cut the outer jacket or damage wire insulation.
✓ Controls for dimming, auto-sensing, or remote control of a luminaire that are not factory-wired to the luminaire must be checked for compatibility with the luminaire prior to installation. LED fixtures must be powered directly off a switched circuit.
✓ Unless individual product specifications deem otherwise: Do not restrict fixture ventilation. Allow for some volume of airspace around fixture. Avoid covering LED fixtures with insulation, foam, or other material that will prevent convection or conduction cooling.
✓ Unless individual product specifications deem otherwise: Do not exceed fixtures maximum ambient temperature.
✓ Only use fixture in its intended location.
✓ LED products are Polarity Sensitive. Ensure proper Polarity before installation.
✓ Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): ESD can damage LED fixtures. Personal grounding equipment must be worn during all installation or servicing of the unit.
✓ Do not touch individual electrical components as this can cause ESD, shorten lamp life, or alter performance.
✓ Some components inside the fixture may not be serviceable. In the unlikely event your unit may require service, stop using the unit immediately and contact an ABL representative for assistance.
✓ Always read the fixtures complete installation instructions prior to installation for any additional fixture specific warnings.
✓ Always ensure that the electrical distribution system is up to NEC (and any applicable local code) requirements.
✓ Verify that power distribution system has proper grounding. Lack of proper earth ground can lead to fixture failure and may void warranty.

Choose either Part 15 OR Part 78 and move to Page 3 Installation Instructions under Delivery. Lithonia Outdoor will always use Part 15. All luminaires that contain electronic devices that generate frequencies above 9kHz from any component within the luminaire comply with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

  1. This device may not cause harmful interference
  2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

This device complies with Part 18 of the FCC Rules but may cause interference with cordless and cell phones, radios, televisions, and other electronic devices. To correct the problem, move the device away from the luminaire or plug into a different outlet. This product may cause interference to radio equipment and should not be installed near maritime safety communications equipment or other critical navigation or communications equipment operating between 0.45-30MHz.

T-BAR CEILING GRID INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Note: Turn off power at circuit breaker box!

Install fixture in T-bar ceiling opening. (Figure 1)

From above the ceiling, secure luminaire to T-bar grid by bending the built-in T-bar clips in all 4 corners of luminaire. (Figure 2)

Following local codes, attach the luminaire to the building structure using proper hanger wire to support the luminaire in at least two opposite corners. Use the holes provided in the T-bar clips. (Figure 3)

Use CCT switch on the driver box to select appropriate light color (35K, 40K, or 50K option). (Figure 4)

From above the ceiling, remove the junction box access plate by loosen the screw holding the junction box mounting plate. Then slide plate out and upwared to remove. Locate the driver supply wires (1 black / power, 1 white / neutral, 1 green/ground). (Figure 5)

Remove one knockout from access plate and attach building supply conduit. (Figure 6)

Use Big Wire Nuts (3)

With the power turned off, make electrical connections according to local codes (Figure 7). Secure access plate back into luminaire (Figure 8). Turn ON power at circuit breaker and test successful installation.

Two-Person Installation

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES MAY BE NEEDED (NOT INCLUDED) DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF CEILING FIXTURE IS BEING MOUNTED TO:

For surface mount installation, notice pre-installed mounting hinges (D) and latch with tether assembly (E). (Figure 1)

Mark and drill mounting locations on ceiling –
For surface mounting directly to the ceiling, complete the following installation instructions with the mounting hardware (provided) to ensure a proper and safe installation. Follow all local codes. (Figure 2)

  • Ensure the bracket is even by measuring both ends to make sure they are the same, see Dimension AA & BB.

  • Position the mounting bracket in relationship to the J-BOX as shown in Figure 2 (Dim CC & DD) and mark four (4) mounting holes.

  • (For drywall ceiling): Drill four (4) mounting holes with ½” drill bit on previously marked locations. ( For other ceilings ): Drill appropriately sized hole for fasteners being used (not provided).

Secure hanger brackets to ceiling –

  • (For drywall ceiling): mount bracket with four (4) toggle bolts and toggle nuts (provided).

  • (For other ceiling types): Use appropriate fasteners (not provided) to securely hold brackets to ceiling. Must be able to support fixture weight. Follow all local codes.

  • Bolts (C) go through holes on each end of hanger brackets (A), and then threaded into toggle nuts (B). (Figure 3)

  • Toggle nut (B) is folded and pushed through each of the drilled holes in ceiling.

  • Using a hand screwdriver, tighten the bolts until hanger brackets are securely attached and flush with ceiling. (Figure 4)

Mount CPANL to hanger brackets –

  • Safely climb to height where you can see receiving tabs of hanger side brackets.

  • Start by locating Mounting Hinges (D) on CPANL. Position panel so you are holding it with the Hinges away from you. (Figure 5)

  • Then bring hinge side of panel up to receiving tabs on hanger brackets.

  • Insert both receiving tabs through the slots in the hinge brackets.

  • Slide the hinge brackets up to, and then past, the locking springs. (Figure 6)

  • There will be a click as the hinge bracket goes past the locking spring. This will prevent hinge from sliding off tabs.

  • Finally, gently push CPANL toward hinges to seat in back of bracket, then rotate latch side of fixture up towards ceiling until you are able to clip tether cables (2x) into place on the front of hanger bracket. (Figure 7)

Use CCT switch on the driver box to select appropriate light color (35K, 40K, or 50K option). (Figure 8)

Remove the junction box access plate by loosening the screw holding the junction box mounting plate. Then slide plate out and upwared to remove. Remove one knockout from access plate and attach building supply conduit. (Figure 9) With the power turned off, use wire nuts (provided) to make electrical connections according to local codes (Figure 10).

  • All wires must be connected as indicated below for proper installation:
    — Required input wires (Qty 3) on CPANL:
    1) GREEN / YELLOW wire – Ground
    2) WHITE wire – Neutral Line-In
    3) BLACK wire – Hot Line-In

  • Secure access plate back into luminaire. (Figure 10)

Raise front of fixture to ceiling and engage latches –

  • Gently push CPANL toward hinges to fully seat in back of bracket and rotate latch side of fixture up towards ceiling.

  • If tether is sticking out, push it so that it lays on top of panel. May need to align it so that clip does not prevent panel from going up fully.

  • Panel will need to be close enough to ceiling for locking feature on latch tab to clear opening in hanger bracket.

  • Rotate latches into closed position (both latches). (Figure 11)

  • Latch tabs should be flush against side of fixture. (Figure 11)

  • Gently let down fixture to make sure latches are engaged.

  • Turn ON power at circuit breaker and test successful installation. (Figure 12)

If the CPANL needs to be removed from the hanger bracket (not necessary during typical installation) —

  • To unlatch: Lift latch side of panel toward ceiling to clear hook feature and pull on latches.
  • Unclip the front tethers.
  • Have someone hold ladder steady; and then securely take hold of panel and rotate latch side toward ceiling until the front is 12”-18” from ceiling.
  • Use your finger, or a flat head screwdriver, to push locking spring above mounting hinge.
  • Carefully slide the mounting hinge toward you, past the locking spring. Repeat on other side to fully free fixture.
  • Lower panel to the ground and place on flat surface to avoid damaging the diffuser lens.
