GRAINFATHER S Series SF50 Veiledning
THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING GRAINFATHER SF50 CONICAL FERMENTERS
Get to know your gear by following these quick and easy steps to set up and
use the SF50. We recommend reading the following safety information before
use. Attached you will also find advice for cleaning your SF50 conical
fermentation tank.
SAFETY INFORMATION
- Read all instructions before use.
- Always use the equipment on a flat and stable surface.
- When the fermentation tank is full, do not lift it and only roll it on flat surfaces.
- When the equipment is stationary, check that the wheels are locked in place.
- Make sure all screws and nuts are tight.
NOTE: Failure to follow the above safety information may result in serious injury and void the product’s warranty.
PARTS LIST
- Yeast lock
- Stopper
- Thermal well, o-ring, and nut
- Bones
- Dome nuts
- Lid
- Lockable wheels
- Body
- Thermo well hole
- Sampling valve
- Tailpiece
- Dump valve
ASSEMBLY OF BONES
- Remove the large dome nuts (5) from the body (8) of the fermentation tank.
- Carefully place the fermentation tank on its side on a mat or towel underneath to avoid scratching.
- Fit each of the three legs (4) onto the threaded bolts and reattach the dome nuts. Make sure all legs are adjusted to the same height.
NOTE: Use the extra holes on the leg to adjust the height of the fermentation tank as shown below.
ASSEMBLY OF WHEELS
- Press down on the lever on each wheel (7) to lock them in place.
- Carefully place the fermentation tank on its side, again use a mat or towel to avoid scratching.
- Screw on the wheels on the bottom of the legs.
INSTALLATION OF THERMAL WELL
- Remove the nut from the thermowell while the (3) silicone o-ring is in place.
- From the inside of the fermentation tank, guide the thermowell through the hole (9) on the side of the body.
- Put the nut back on the thermowell from the outside of the fermentation tank and tighten it by hand.
ASSEMBLY OF YELLOW LOCK & TAILPIECE
- YARD LOCK: Insert the three-part yeast lock (1) into the stopper (2).
- TAIL PIECE: To insert the sampling valve tailpiece (11), take the tailpiece and insert the end with the two o-rings into the sampling valve (10) inside the fermentation tank. Turn the tailpiece so the other end is pointing down as shown below.
HOW TO USE
Before use, we recommend cleaning your SF50 and all components with Grainfather High-Performance Cleaner.
-
Fill the fermentation tank with a siphon or a counter-flow cooler if you are using a Grainfather brewing system. Make sure the volume is at least 15L.
-
Attach the lid and check that the yeast lock and stopper are firmly in place.
-
Check the fermentation temperature in your recipe and place the SF50 in a location that stays close to the temperature required.
NOTE: The SF50 can be used with the Glycol Chiller Adapter Kit (GCA) for more accurate temperature control during fermentation. -
Your recipe will also determine how long your beer needs to ferment. The fermentation is complete when the SG readings are stable for two consecutive days.
TIPS
- We recommend dumping dead yeast and dry hops from the drain valve every 2−3 days during fermentation. This prevents yeast and hops from clogging the valve.
- During fermentation, the sample valve can be used to collect samples and test the gravity. To do this, open the ball valve and collect the beer in a suitable vessel.
- In addition to sampling, the valve can also be used to transfer the beer after fermentation. Simply connect a hose (10 mm inner diameter) to the opening and open the test valve. Or use with Grainfather Pressure Transfer (sold separately).
TIPS FOR CLEANING & STORAGE
- After fermentation, transfer the beer to a keg or bottle.
- Rinse out the remaining tube and fill the tank halfway with water.
- Add the required amount of Grainfather High-Performance Cleaner to the water and stir to dissolve.
- Scrub the sides of the fermentation tank and the lid with a non-abrasive cloth. Make sure all surfaces are scrubbed.
- Rinse and drain the cleaning liquid with the taps.
- Remove, disassemble, and clean faucets.
- When all parts are completely dry, reassemble and store.
