PREPARING THE FIXTURE FOR INSTALLATION
-
Carefully remove diffuser by squeezing rounded (back) edge with forefi ngers while holding front side with thumbs. See Figure 1.
-
Open wireway cover by gently pressing inward to release cover from thumbnail lances on housing. See Figure 2.
-
Remove the parts pack and place it in a convenient location during installation.
INSTALLATION OF FIXTURE
WARNING: Before wiring fixture to thepower supply, turn off electricity
at fuse or circuit breaker box. Fixture must begrounded to avoid potential
electricalshock and to ensure reliable lamp starting.
NOTE: Fixture channel is provided withknockouts for use of romex strain
relief bushing(provided). Fixture channel also contains a7/8” knockout on top
of channel for mounting over junction box.
-
Determine appropriate knockout for removal in relationship to incoming romex (power supply).
To remove knockouts:
Place standard screwdriver on edge of circle (on opposite side from retaining tabs) and gently strike with hammer. Grip edge with pliers and fl ex back and forth until removed. See Figure 3. -
If using romex strain relief bushing, snap the bushing into the open hole. See Figure 4.
(Not required if mounting over junction box). -
Insert house power supply cable through strain relief bushing. See Figure 5.
If mounting over junction box, feed house supply cable through open hole on top of fixture. -
Position the fixture housing against the mounting surface and with a pencil, mark the screw hole locations to be located at the narrow section of the keyholes. See Figure 6.
-
Using a drill with a 1/6” drill bit, make two small pilot holes at the marked screw hole locations. (Note: do not drill entirely through mounting surface).
-
Partially install the provided mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
-
Position the fi xture housing against the mounting surface with the screw heads through the keyhole mounting holes. Slide the fixture until the screw heads re through the narrow section of the key holes. Finish tightening the screws to secure the fixture against the mounting surface.
-
To ease wiring, hang wireway cover on mounted housing by placing open slots on end of cover over horizonal housing tabs. See Figure 7.
-
Cut supply cable to desired length. Strip black and white wire leads with wire strippers to expose 3/8”- 7/16” of bare metal. See Figure 8.
-
Using wirenuts provided, connect supply (house) wires to fi xture wires – white to white, black to black, and green to green or bare copper ground wire.
-
Bundle wires in tight grouping to be out of the way, pivot channel cover up in position and secure by snapping under thumb nail lances.
INSTALLING LAMPS AND LENS
- Install bulb in lampholders by sliding pins at the ends of the bulb through open slots in lampholders and rotate ¼” turn to secure.
- Install front edge of diffuser into front lip of channel and snap into place covering bulb. Ensure that entire length of diffuser is tightly secured to Wireway Cover.
- Turn on electricity at fuse or circuit breaker box. If wired to a wall switch, switch must be on to operate the fixture; fixtures can then be independently operated by On/Off switch located on Wireway Cover of fixture.
