Tivax SewSimple Handheld Electric Sewing Machine

This machine is intended for household use only.

Safety Information

• Always disconnect or remove power supply, including batteries, when changing needles or threading the machine.
• Never open the main motor case of the machine.
• The mechanism has been factory adjusted.
• Always check the threading before sewing.
• Improper threading or placement of the bobbin in the case may result in damage to the machine.
• Do not pull on fabric as you sew.
• Gently guide only.
• Pulling could break the needle and result in damage to the machine.
• Remove batteries when the machine is not in use for long periods.
• This saves battery life and protects the machine.
• Keep extra batteries on hand so projects will not be interrupted when batteries need to be replaced.

KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN:

• This sewing machine is not a toy and not meant to be used by or near children.
• The sewing machine is an electrical appliance when used with the adapter.
• Do not submerge the unit or any other parts in water.
• Do not operate the sewing machine with wet hands, without shoes, or while standing in water or on a wet surface when using the adapter.
• Do not change needles or thread the machine while unit is on.
• Always switch off the machine before touching the needle.
• Never use with a damaged power cord or plug.
• Keep the power cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not close door on cord or pull around sharp edges.
• This could cause damage to the cord and could result in injury.
• Do not unplug by pulling or tugging on the cord.
• Grasp the plug with dry hands to remove the plug from the outlet.
• Do not sew clothing while it is on your body.
• Use only the power adapter recommended by the manufacturer.
• Any other adapter may cause injury or damage the machine.
• Never leave the sewing machine unattended while plugged in.
• Turn switch off and unplug the cord when not in use.

Threading the machine

CAUTION:
Before replacing the top and bobbin threads, make sure to turn off the power switch, then remove the batteries or unplug the adapter to prevent injury from accidentally starting up the machine.

Note: It is essential that threading the top and bobbin thread is done properly. Check carefully and do one practice stitch before beginning to sew. Improper threading will damage the machine

Threading the top thread
Please follow steps 1-7 in the below picture:

Note : Thread the needle eye from left to right. Otherwise the machine may not sew

1. Place spool or bobbin on thread spindle, and insert thread spindle with thread going counterclockwise.

2. Put thread through first thread guide as shown.

3. Place thread over tension discs and pull it down between the discs.
   IMPORTANT : Make sure the thread is wedged in between the two metal discs, not just lying across the top of them.

4. Put thread through thread guide as shown.

5. Thread the take-up lever from front to back.

6. Put thread through thread guide as shown.

7. Thread needle eye from left to right

Inserting the bottom bobbin

1. A. Press the bobbin cover and pull it out toward you.
2. B. Place the new bobbin in the bobbin case with the thread going counterclockwise. Leave about 5 cm of thread hanging out.
3. C. Hold the top thread loosely with your left hand and turn the handwheel in the direction of the arrow with your right hand until the needle goes down and comes back up to its highest position. Lightly pull up the top thread. The bobbin thread will appear through the needle plate slot. Pull the bobbin thread the rest of the way up through the needle plate slot.
4. D. Pull the top and bobbin threads together toward the back of the machine, under the presser foot.
5. E. Replace the bobbin cover.

Connecting the AC/DC adapter

1. a. Use only an adapter that is compatible with the machine. Adapter must be 6V 1000mA.
2. b. Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position.
3. c. Connect the power cord to the DC input socket on the machine, and connect the plug to the power outlet.

CAUTION:
To prevent accidental injury, make sure the power switch is in the OFF position when installing the batteries or connecting the adapter.If the machine happens to malfunction, turn off the power switch immediately and remove the batteries or unplug the adapter, to prevent injury caused by accidental startup. After the machine is repaired, turn the hand wheel to do several practice stitches before starting to sew.

Installing/Removing the batteries (not included)

Note : You can use either batteries or the adapter. Do not use both at the same time.

1. a. The battery compartment is in the top right of the machine, inside the handle. Push up the end of battery compartment cover and take off the cover. Carefully pull out the assistive device that will hold the batteries. The device can be taken out completely
2. b. Insert 4 AA batteries into the compartment in the correct polarity as marked inside the machine.
3. c. Replace the battery cover.

Removing the batteries:

1. a. Open the battery cover
2. b. Carefully pull out the assistive device together with the batteries. Remove the batteries, put the assistive device back in, and replace the battery cover

CAUTION:
Whenever the machine is not in use, make sure it is switched off,unplug the adapter, and take out any batteries from the machine. Do not mix different types of batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. Replace all 4 batteries as a simultaneous set. Do not mix standard (carbon zinc), alkaline or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries

Changing the needle

CAUTION:
Remove the batteries and/or disconnect the adapter to
prevent injury from accidentally starting up the machine.

1. a. Turn the hand wheel to raise the needle to its highest position.
2. b. Hold the old needle and loosen the needle clamp screw. Remove the old needle and discard responsibly.
3. c. Insert the new needle into the clamp with the at side toward the right side of the machine. Be sure to push the needle completely into the clamp before tightening the needle clamp screw.
4. d. Tighten the needle clamp screw

CAUTION:
Needle must be inserted in the correct direction. Be sure to tighten the screw to prevent the needle from falling out by accident

ADJUSTING TENSION

1. As shown in the picture (Fig. A), normal stitching should have the top and bottom thread look even, neither too tight nor too loose.
2. If the bottom thread looks like a straight line, it means the top thread is too loose. Slowly turn the tension dial clockwise to increase the tension until the stitch returns to normal
3. If the top thread looks like a straight line, it means the top thread is too tight. Slowly turn the tension dial counterclockwise to reduce the tension until the stitch returns to normal
