INSTALLATION
Preparations
- Check before hanging that the lengths are in good condition. The supplier cannot accept responsibility for any defects on wall coverings that have already been put up.
- Use adhesive and filler suitable for the particular type wall covering.
- Use fabric adhesive when hanging in normal rooms.
- Adhesive primer is used both for hanging wall coverings and as cloth filler in normal rooms. Apply a layer of adhesive primer on the cloth after hanging.
- Use wet room adhesive in wet rooms such as bathrooms and laundries etc., which are exposed to moisture for long periods. Only use wet room adhesive in wet rooms – other types of adhesive can rot, which can damage both the wall and the wall covering.
- Cloth filler is used for woven glass fibre etc.
- Felt primer is specially intended for priming felt wallpaper.
NOTE! Follow the instructions on the cans for adhesive and primer.
Hanging
- The wall should be clean and dry.
- Room temperature of at least +18°C for hanging weave, wallpaper and dust sheets.
Preparation
- Remove all the old wallpaper or wall covering.
- Smooth out any irregularities with a suitable filler tool.
- Use wet room filler for wet rooms. Plasterboard or newly plastered walls should be primed with adhesive primer.
- Clean any surfaces that can cause discolouring.
- Prime with adhesive primer.
- Fill any cracks between walls and floor boarding with jointing/acrylic sealing compound.
- Smooth the joints.
Hanging the wallpaper
-
Apply adhesive on the wall with a thick pile roller.
Only apply the adhesive for one or two lengths at a time.
Start at the top and make sure to get the length straight. -
Press the length on by smoothing down with a soft roller along the middle of the length.
Continue smoothing out the length by rolling straight out from the middle to the edges. -
Hang up the next length edge to edge with the previous length, without overlapping.
-
Cut away the wall covering over mains sockets, switches etc. with a sharp knife or pair of scissors. Use a broad filler tool to cut along if necessary. The length should always extend 2–3 cm onto the next wall at corners.
Cutting lengths of felt wallpaper
- The lengths should extend 10–15 cm onto the next wall at corners.
The lengths should overlap by 2–3 cm.
- Make sure to get the lengths straight.
- Cut vertically through both layers with a sharp knife and carefully remove excess felt from both lengths. This makes the joint invisible. The adhesive on both lengths must be moist.
- Carefully press the felt to the wall with a cloth filler tool or wallpaper brush.
- Never apply cloth filler/adhesive primer before the hung cloth/felt is completely dry. Woven glass fibre or felt that has already been primed does not need priming again. When the wall covering is completely dry it can be painted with a water-based wall paint of the required type. 1–3 coats may be necessary, depending on the colour and quality.
- Always follow the instructions on the paint can.
