WHAT CAN MONICA DO?
Welcome
Introduction
Monica is your digital healthcare companion built into MiiCube. She was named and designed by older people to ease loneliness and be a helpful, entertaining MiiCare presence at home. This short guide explains how to talk to Monica, tells you how she behaves, and explains what to expect from your MiiCube system.
Voice Commands
To wake Monica and begin a voice command, swiftly press and release the
MiiCube’s top button. The lights will turn light blue, and if your name was
Doris, Monica will say “Yes Doris?”. You can also say “Monica” and she will
respond in the same way. You will have a few seconds to speak your voice
command after Monica greets you, then she will begin processing your speech.
Please refer to the manual for more detailed instructions.
Monica responds to the following commands:

“What can you do?” or “Can you _____” etc.
If you ask Monica what she can do, she will list the commands here, and any we might add in the future. This guide has more details below. -
“What time is it?” or “What is the time?” etc.
If you ask Monica for the time, she will read out the time, and AM or PM -
“Can you speak louder” or “Lower the volume” etc.
If you ask Monica to increase or decrease the volume, she will raise or lower the volume of MiiCube and speak at the new level for you to hear. -
“How is the weather today?” or “What’s the weather?” etc.
Monica will describe the temperature and other weather conditions of the location provided when your MiiCube was ordered. To update your location, please contact MiiCare. -
“Tell me a news story” or “What’s on the news?” etc.
If asked for the news, Monica will read out a recent BBC World Service story. -
“Play 60s’ songs” or ” Turn on the radio” or “I want to listen to Queen” etc.
If you ask Monica for music and don’t name anything, or she doesn’t have something, she will tune to her favorite hits from across the decades.

The standard radio stations include the following:
Please request more of your favourites, or a specific radio station, and we’ll add them.

“Stop the music” or “Quiet please” etc.
If you ask Monica to stop the music, she will. -
“Mute” or “Do not disturb” or “I want to rest” or “Don’t interrupt me“
If you ask Monica for some quiet time, she will refrain from chatting or giving reminders for at least 3 hours. -
“Tell me a quote” or “Do you have any quotes” etc.
If you ask Monica for a quote, she’ll tell you one, and who said it. -
“Can you repeat that?” or “What did you say?” etc.
If you didn’t hear what Monica last said, ask her to repeat herself. -
“Change the network” or “Reset WiFi” etc.
If you ask Monica to change her WiFi network, she will ask you to confirm. She will then begin the network setup process described in the MiiCube instruction manual. Monica will disconnect from the old network, and then start a new network setup to allow MiiCube to reconnect. Use this command only if you need to setup a new WiFi network for MiiCube. -
“Help!” or “I need help” etc.
If you say “Help” in any command to Monica, she will ask you to confirm. If you do, she will ask what is wrong and dial the SOS phone numbers given when your MiiCube was set up. For more details, please refer to the MiiCube Instruction Manual. -
“What was my temperature?” or “What did I weigh last time?” etc.
Feel free to ask Monica about any measurement you’ve taken and she’ll remember the last number for you. Options include: Temperature, Blood Pressure, Weight, Blood Oxygen, Steps, Heart rate, or sleep quality. -
“Do you have any questions for me?” or “I could answer some questions now” etc.
If Monica asked you if you wanted to answer a few questions before and you said no, you can answer them by asking about them later. -
“Read me a bible verse” or “Do you know any psalms?” etc.
If you ask Monica for a bible verse, she will read you a new selection from the King James Bible. Please ask MiiCare if you would like Monica to read one for you each afternoon without being asked.
