miicare MiiCube Health Care Device

Step l: Download the App

Before you begin setting up your equipment, download the MiiCube M11Care app to your phone.

You can find this in Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

When you open the app, it will ask for permission to access your location. Select “While using the app”. It will also check that Bluetooth is turned on. When it is you will
see at the top of your screen. You then need to log into the app using the login details contained in the email we sent you when you subscribed to the MiiCare service. If you haven’t received this, check in your email spam folder. If you still cannot get access to your password, don’t worry. Just click “Forgot password”, enter your email, and we will send you a temporary one to login.

Once you have successfully downloaded and signed into the app, it is time to move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Power Up

  • Put the MiiCube in the room where you spend most of your time during the day. This will probably be your living room or lounge. Place the MiiCube near a plug socket and connect it using the power lead that came with your equipment.

Once connected to the power, the MiiCube begins its setup process. This can take up to two minutes. You will know that initial set up is complete when a light on top comes on. This will display one of two colours:

  • If your MiiCube is showing rainbow colours, then this means you provided us with information which has allowed it to connect to your Wi-Fi. If so, skip Step 3.

  • If your MiiCube is showing yellow colour, this means your MiiCube is ready to be connected to Wi-Fi. To begin this process, press the top of your MilCube and hold it down for 7-10 seconds. The light will turn blue to show the device has entered Wi-Fi setup mode. Monica will then talk to you and guide to through the Wi-Fi setup process.

Step 3: Connect to WiFi

The app will then display a MiiCube Setup message to guide your set up. If there’s no message, press the gear icon on the bottom banner of the app and select “MiiCube Wi-Fi Setup”. Select the MiiCube that you are setting up by pressing “Configure”. When you do this the cube will flash blue. Monica will confirm that cube has been selected .

The app will also display a list of available Wi-Fi networks that have been detected. Select your home network and carefully enter your own Wi-Fi password (not the MiiCare password) .

  1. (in blue) Monica will then show a rotating blue light as the MiiCube tries to connect to the network. After a short time, Monica will confirm the network connection was successful and show a green light.

  2. (in red) If the connection failed the MiiCube will display a red light. If that happens, repeat the above steps and double check your Wi-Fi password . Both network name and password are case sensitive.

  3. (in green) After the green light shows, MiiCube should become rainbow.

  4. If you have a 3G/4G dongle because you don’t have WiFi, connect this to the power pack near your MiiCube. Your MiiCube will become rainbow after being connected to the network of the dongle.

Smart Home

The MiiCube collects information from the range of sensors and devices that came with your equipment:

  • Door sensor : Place this on the inside of the main door you use to enter or leave your home. The sensor has two parts. One part should be placed on the doorframe, the other pa rt on the door itself. When the door is closed, these two parts should be close to one other (within half an inch) .

Check the positioning before securing with the adhesive pads. When it is working a red light should flash whenever the door opens or closes.

  • Smart Plug : This plug should be inserted into the socket where your appliance is plugged in. Remember that the plug will only work if the button on the side is switched to the on position (showing green).

  • Room sensors : You will have one labelled for each room. These can be placed on a shelf or other surface or fastened to the wall with the attached adhesive pads. It is important that the sensor can see the whole room and isn’t near heaters, in direct sunlight, or pointing at other areas where people pass by.

Test Your Device

That’s it. You are ready to go. Try Monica out. Say ‘Monica’ , or press the top of the MiiCube once. After she replies “Yes, ”, ask her questions like:

  • What is the latest news?
  • What is the weather like today?
  • What is the time?

Remember too that you can wake Monica and say ‘Help’ to get help or press and hold the SOS button on top of the MiiCube. She will then get in touch with your emergency contacts.

Other Equipment

There is a range of other devices that the MiiCube can connect with, from bathroom scales and oximeters, to mugs that measure fluid intake. More details of how to use these are included in the longer manual enclosed with your device.
The manual also has a section on troubleshooting any problems that you may encounter during the setup process.
