Tips for Operation

Power Up
We recommend leaving the Pre5 powered on at all times as it benefits the overall sound qualitv and draws little power.
If your system will not be used for an extended period of time, such as two weeks, or if there is an imminent electrical storm, we recommend shutting off your system. NOTE: If the Pre5 does not receive any sort of user input for 2 hours, the display will go into a screen saver mode.

Home Theater Bypass
The inputs can be placed into Home Theater Bypass by programming a specific input for HTB mode. HTB will be shown on the display instead of the volume setting when an input is in this mode.

What to do if there is hum or ground noise
The design of the Pre5 greatly reduces the chance for ground loop induced hum and noise. Connect all power cables of the audio system to a common outlet box or power conditioner unit. Having the audio system components share a common ground will greatly reduce the possibility for ground current noise being introduced into the audio signal path.

Programming Modes

There are several programming options with the Pre5. You program the unit by either pressing and holding the knob for several seconds and using short presses and scrolling the knob to navigate and set the programming or by using the Program button on the remote and navigating and scrolling settings using the left/right/up/down buttons. Save the program settings by either pressing and holding the knob or pressing and holding the Program button for several seconds.

  1. MAX Volume:100 -default is 1 00, this can be reduced to prevent excessive volume levels.
  2. EDIT Input -this is used to change naming and settings on each input, an example is shown below:
  3. BAL ON BAL -the first field shows the input to program, the center field can be set to ON, HTB (Home Theater Bypass) or OFF. HTB sets the input to a unity gin setting of BE for use with an external surround processor where volume is controlled from the processor, OFF will prevent the input from being selected when scrolling inputs.
  4. BALANCE -default is 0, this allows the right > or left < balance to be set up to 6dB in 1 2 0.5dB steps
    • Reset PGM: NO/YES — will reset the programming to factory defaults if YES is selected

Remember to press and hold either the Program button on the remote or the knob to save and set the programming when you have finished your settings.
