Before Using this Product

Please be careful about the procedures for Installation.
In order to use a USB connection to communicate between this product and a PC, the software and the USB device driver need to be installed.
Before connecting this product to your computer, make sure to first install the software and the USB device driver.

Download “T&D Recorder for Windows (TR-5, 7xU)”and “T&D Graph” from the T&D Website and install them to your PC.

If a window appears asking if you would like to install this device software, click [Install] or [Continue Anyway].

After installation, “T&D Recorder for Windows (TR-5, 7xU)” and “T&D Graph” will appear in the Windows Start Screen or Start Menu.

What is Communication Port TR-50U2 ?

Communication Port TR-50U2 has been designed for use with TR-5i data loggers to enable the making of recording settings and the downloading of recorded data to a PC.
After the data has been downloaded to your computer, our exclusive software can then easily process the data into graphs, tables, save to files and/or print it out.

The latest version of the software can be downloaded free of charge from our T&D Website (www.tandd.com). The units can be operated with “T&D Recorder for Windows (TR-5, 7xU)” version 2.00 or later.

Principal Features

High speed communication via USB connection
TR-50U2 carries out high speed communication with our data loggers at their fastest possible communication rate.
Auto-Open Software
Simply by placing a compatible data logger on the PC-connected TR-50U2, the appropriate application window will automatically open. It is no longer necessary to click to open the software each time.
Power supply via USB bus power
As power comes through the USB connection, there is no longer any need for external power jacks and connections.

Part Names

Using Optical Communication with a Data Logger

Do not connect a TR-50U2 to your computer until the software has been installed.

Via optical communication between the TR-50U2 and a data logger, it is possible to download recorded data to your computer and make necessary recording settings in the data logger.

  1. Connect the provided USB communication cable’s “A-plug” to a USB port on your computer.

  2. Connect the “mini-B plug” to the TR-50U2.

  3. Place the data logger on top of the TR-50U2 as shown in the figure, making sure that the optical communication areas are aligned properly.

    CAUTION
    – Make sure that the cable is inserted fully, so as not to cause an improper connection.
    – If the data logger is wet, make sure to dry it off before placing it on top of the TR-50U2.

  4. Recording settings for the data logger and the downloading of data can now be carried out as desired.

After having installed the software…
Simply by placing a compatible data logger on a TR-50U2 that is connected to your computer, the logger will be detected and the appropriate application window will automatically open.

Provisions for Free Repair

  1. If the unit does not work properly despite the fact that the customer used it properly and in line with the manual, the unit shall be repaired free of charge through the distributor which sold the unit.
  2. If the customer requests free repair because of trouble within the warranty period, bring or send the unit along with the warranty to the distributor.
  3. If you have moved after purchasing, or there are difficulties contacting the distributor from which you purchased the unit, please contact T&D directly for service.
  4. Free repair is not available in the following cases even though it is within the warranty period:
  5. Trouble or damage was caused by careless operation, natural disaster, fire, public pollution, or use of a power source other than specified.
  6. If repair, adjustment, disassembly or modification of the unit has been carried out by a person other than a T&D authorized engineer.
  7. Trouble or damage was caused by transportation, movement or dropping of the unit after purchase.
  8. Failure to submit the warranty or failure to fill in all items required in the warranty.
  9. The warranty cannot be reissued. This warranty only promises customers free repair within the period and conditions clarified in this warranty. Therefore, the customer’s legal rights will not be limited by this warranty. For further information on repair and other service questions after the termination of the warranty period, contact your distributor.
