Thank you for purchasing the Scotts of Stow Gravity Salt & Pepper Mills. To ensure that you get the very best from your product, please read the following instructions before use. Please keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.

INTENDED USE

These appliances are designed exclusively to grind pepper, salt, and other dried spices. The grinders are for private use only and are not intended to be used for commercial purposes.

Only use the grinders as described in this instruction manual and pay attention to thesafety information. No liability for damages or accidents will be accepted, which arecaused by not paying attention to the instruction manual.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Risk of Injury
  • People (including children) who are not able to use the appliances in a safe way, due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or knowledge, must never use the appliances except if they are supervised by a personresponsible for their safety.
  • Children shall not play with the appliances.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are supervised.
  • WARNING! Do not allow small children to play with the packaging there is a danger ofsuffocation.
  • Risk of Damage
  • Never immerse the grinders in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever.
  • Only fill the transparent grinding container to 80%. Otherwise, the grinders may be damaged.
  • Do not try to repair the appliances on your own. Never open the casing of the grinders.
  • The warranty is not valid for repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorized third parties.

Notes on handling batteries

  • Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion, or other hazard.
  • If your skin or eyes come into contact with battery fluid, flush out the affected areaswith water and seek medical assistance.
  • DANGER! Small children and pets may swallow and choke on batteries. Store thebatteries out of the reach of small children and pets.
  • Observe the plus (+) and minus (-) polarity signs.
  • Protect the batteries from excessive heat and never throw batteries into a fire. RISK OFEXPLOSION!
  • Do not expose batteries to extreme conditions. For example, storing them on a  radiator or under direct sunlight.
  • Do not charge or short-circuit batteries.
  • Use identical or equivalent battery types only.
  • Always replace all batteries at the same time.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries.
  • Do not disassemble, split, or crush the batteries.
  • If a battery has leaked, put on protective gloves, and clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth.

UNPACKING AND CHECKING

  • Carefully unpack the grinders and remove any packaging material and check all theparts are undamaged. Do not use the appliances if they have been damaged.
  • Check that the scope of delivery is complete.
  • Remove any promotional labels or stickers from the appliances before the first use. DO NOT remove the appliance data plate.
  • DANGER – The plastic bags used to wrap this appliance, or the packaging may be dangerous. To avoid risk of suffocation, keep these bags out of reach of babies and children.

OPERATION

INSERTING THE BATTERIES

  • Each grinder runs on 6 x AAA, 1,5 V batteries (Not included). To insert or change thebatteries, the housing must be removed firstly.
  • Grasp the lower part, turn the upper housing anticlockwise and pull upwards.
  • Place the 6 batteries into the provided battery compartments, noting the +/- markings.
  • Place the housing back and press it briefly, if necessary, until it locks into place.
  • Now turn the housing clockwise to lock it firmly.
  • NOTE: Dispose used batteries according to the regulations that apply in your country.

FILLING THE GRINDING CONTAINER

  • Hold the housing and tum the grinding container clockwise.
  • Fill the transparent grinding container with your chosen spice. Only fill up to 😯 %. The mechanism needs sufficient room for grinding.
  • Reassemble once the chamber has been filled and turn the transparent containeranticlockwise until it gets locked firmly (but not too tight). Your grinders are nowready to use.

USAGE

  • Do not use the grinders empty. To begin grinding, simply tilt the grinder. The grindingmechanism switches on and off automatically at a certain angle of inclination.
  • NOTE: If the grinder gets stuck during use gently shake the grinder or tap the grindergently on a hard surface, to remove the stuck pepper or salt.

ADJUSTING COARSENESS

You can adjust the grinding setting by turning the adjustment wheel on the undersideof the grinder. To do so, turn the wheel clockwise for a finer grind and anticlockwise for a coarser grind.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • THE GRINDER WILL NOT START. Ensure that the batteries are full and inserted correctly, noting the +/- markings. Each grinder runs on 6 x AAA 1.5 V batteries. If necessary, remove and re-insert the batteries. Inspect to make certain proper contact is made with each jack spring. In some cases, it may also help to slightly shake the grinder withinserted batteries.
  • THE GRINDER DOES NOT GRIND ANYMORE. Damp salt and large pepper corns can cause clogging in the grinder. In this case gently shake the grinder or tap thegrinder gently on a hard surface to remove the stuck pepper or salt. It is also advisableto dean the ceramic grinding mechanism. To do so, loosen the adjustment wheel on top of the grinder by first pressing it down slightly and then unscrewing it anticlockwise. Now you can remove the grinding mechanism and clean it accordingly.

CLEANING AND CARE

  • Grinding container, adjustment wheel, as well as the cap of the ceramic mechanismcan be cleaned by using warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • The outside of the grinders can be wiped using a damp doth.
  • Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
  • Do not immerse the grinders in liquid or put it in a dishwasher.

STORAGE

  • WARNING – If the grinders are not used for a longer period, the batteries can leak and permanently destroy the appliance.
  • If you do not use the appliances for a long time, remove the batteries so that they donot leak.
  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place at normal room temperature, out of children’sreach and sight.
  • Store the grinders in a dry and clean place that is inaccessible to children. We recommend that you keep the appliances in its original packaging.
