General safety advice

  • Never leave food cooking unattended.

  • Tefal cookware is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the product by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product.

  • Be careful near the stove and use a lid or splatter guard to prevent burns/scalds caused by splashing or hot steam.

  • Do not touch cookware with a wet cloth, oven gloves or potholder or put it on a wet surface. Hot cookware should be placed on heat resistant surfaces only.

  • Do not add cold water, ice or fully frozen food items directly to a hot pan, as a steam eruption could occur that could cause burns or other injury to users or bystanders. Be especially cautious in this regard when the pan contains hot oils used during cooking, as steam eruptions are possible when elements containing water are brought into contact with hot oil.

  • Do not combine cookware to make a double boiler. These pieces are not designed for that purpose and such use could result in steam related burns or other injury to users or bystanders.

  •  Tefal cookware should never be used in a microwave.

  • It is not recommended using your pans for deep frying (eg Chips, samosas etc).

  • Never leave the handle of your pan sticking out over the edge of the hob.

  • Never put a hot pan on the floor or near the edge of a kitchen surface.

  • Place hot pans at the back of the work surface to allow them to cool down safely.

  • It is recommended using oven gloves when holding handles and knobs.

  • In the event of a pan fire turn off the heat supply and place a fire blanket or dampened towel over the pan and leave for 30 minutes before removing. · Care should always be exercised when cooking with oil. The pan should not be overfilled or too high a heat used.

  • Small pans may need careful placement on the support legs of gas hobs for which most gas hob manufacturers provide a trivet. · In the event of overheating the cookware should not be moved but should be left to cool first, due to the danger of the potentially molten aluminium within the encapsulated base.
