Installation
-
Preparing the cable
• Use caution when splitting to avoid exposing copper wire.
• Remove 1/2 in. of insulation from both wires and twist the ends. -
Connecting the cable to the transformer
• Lay the transformer (A) on a flat, stable surface and open the terminal connector door flap. Insert the landscape wires into the desired channel pair of terminals marked “COM” & “CH” with one stripped end into the desired channel marked “COM1” or “COM2” or “COM3” and firmly press down the terminal handle to secure the wire. Next insert the remaining paired stripped wire into the matched paired terminal marked “CH1” or “CH2” or “CH3” and firmly press down the terminal handle to secure the wire. Refer to the Cable Selection Chart to determine which voltage terminal to select “12V” or “15V” based on the wire gauge and Fixture wattage.
• Verify that there are no loose cable strands and tug on the landscape wire to verify that the connections are all secure, and firmly close the flap door.
-
Placing the fixtures and routing the cable
• Lay the fixtures (not included) in their desired locations. Be sure they do not exceed the 200-watt rating of the transformer.
• Route the low voltage cable to the fixtures. If there is extra cable, coil the cable after the last fixture. -
Mounting the transformer
• Mount the transformer (A) directly to a wall surface within 12 in. to 48 in. (0.3 m to 1.2 m) of the ground using the included screws (AA). See the mounting template (B) for the correct spacing of the screws (AA).
• Drill two holes on the wall using the mounting template (B), insert two wall anchors (BB) into the wall, and insert the screws (AA) into the wall anchors (BB).
• Hang the transformer (A) onto the screws (AA). -
Attaching the fixtures
• Attach the fixtures to the cable using the cable connectors (not included) as shown. Press the connector tight onto the cable until the prongs pierce the cable insulation. -
Protecting or hiding the cable
• Once all fixtures are in place, the cable may be covered with mulch or buried up to 6 in. (15 cm) deep. Leave about 12 in. (30 cm) of cable after the last fixture.
Operation
-
Let’s Get Started!
• Download the Hubspace™ app from the App Store or the Google Play Store to your mobile device.
• Launch the app.
• To register, enter your email address and a password. Or, login if you already have an account.
• Bluetooth access is required for device setup. -
Verify your network
• This Hubspace device requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel.
• Most routers provide a 2.4 GHz WiFi channel. -
Add a device
• In the Hubspace app, tap the plus sign in the upper right corner.
• Scan your product’s QR code. You can find a copy of the QR code on the device itself and in the Quick Start Guide. Scan problem?
• If the QR code cannot be scanned for some reason, you can enter the code manually. Tap Enter Code and follow the instructions.
• Connect your device to power and follow the instructions on screen. -
Set up your voice assistant
• In the Hubspace app, tap the Hubspace button.
• Select the Integrations tab, choose your voice assistant and follow the instructions. -
12V or 15V Voltage Switch
Your transformer can output 12V or 15V and ships with 12V activated.
To change the voltage:
• Add the device in the Hubspace app.
• Ensure the device is powered on and online in the app.
• Tap the button on top left corner and select desired Output Voltage. Default is 12V. -
3-Zone Control
• The transformer has 3 zones of control that can be turned on or off and scheduled in the Hubspace app. See the app for details. -
Power Meter
• The power meter provides the total power connected to the transformer.
• The power meter allows you to see how much capacity remains for adding additional fixtures to your system.
• Do not exceed the maximum rated wattage of the unit.
• The power meter reading is a sum of the following:
1. Power consumed by all attached fixtures for each powered zone.
2. Power losses from the low-voltage wire(s)
• The power meter reading is a sum of the following: -
System Overload
If your transformer detects a system overload it will shut off.
• Follow these steps to check for possible causes:
1. If you have just added additional lights to your system, remove them and check if this solves the issue by turning the transformer back on via the app or power button on the device.
2. Ensure there is no damage to the transformer and that it is not submerged in water.
• Check all the low-voltage wiring and light fixtures to make sure they are free of damage and possible short circuits.
• It is recommended not to attach more than a cumulative 160W (80%) of fixtures to the transformer based on the rating from the packaging. The low- voltage cable can consume up to 20% of the transformer capacity depending on the wire gauge and the total length of wire.
Troubleshooting Guide
Problem | Possible Cause |
---|---|
My Hubspace device is not connecting to Wi- Fi. | Make sure your device is |
connected to a power source.
• Your Internet connection or Wi-Fi network may be down.
My device cannot find any Wi-Fi networks.| Make sure you have a 2.4GHz capable
Wi-Fi network within range of the device you are trying to add.
My device is in a location that does not have Wi-Fi. Can I still use it with
the Hubspace app?| Yes:
Use the app on a phone with an Internet connection like LTE.
The phone must be within Bluetooth range of your Hubspace device.
I cannot find the QR code.| Look for it where other stickers are on the
product. A copy of the QR code is also included in your device’s
documentation.
The QR code has become damaged. How do I add the device?| Under the OR code
are numbers. You can enter those in manually instead of scanning the code.
How do I reset the device?| Remove the device from your account, then add it
back. Devices also reset when they transfer to a new account.
A device is on another account. How do I transfer it?| Scan the OR code and it
will transfer to your account.
My device is offline for long periods of time.| Make sure your Wi-Fi signal
strength is sufficient. You may need to move your router, use mesh Wi-Fi, or
Wi-Fi extenders.
The device is on and I scanned the OR code, but the app cannot connect to it.|
Turn off Bluetooth on your phone and turn it back on. Then, scan the OR code.
Can I scan the same OR code to add multiple products?| No. Each product has a
unique OR code.
All of the lights fail to work.| • Verify that the transformer power is on.
• Check for a loose cable connection at the transformer.
• Check if the circuit breaker is OFF.
Only some lights work.| • Check the connector to make sure the wire barbs have
pierced the landscape cable.
• Halogen or incandescent bulbs (if applicable) can be burned out. Use caution
as the Bulb can be hot.
