HOW TO CREATE QUESTION BANKS
Question Banks are a place to house questions that can be added to quizzes across courses or accounts. Learning to use Question Banks is beneficial when you want to reuse quiz questions that you have used in the past. This guide consists of three parts. In this guide, you will learn how to create a question bank, how to add questions to your question bank, and how to create a quiz using a question bank.
PART ONE CREATING A QUESTION BANK
- STEP ONE: While in your course, click “Quizzes” on the left Course Navigation Menu
- STEP TWO: Click the “three dots” next to the +Quiz button, then click “Manage Question Banks”.
- STEP THREE: Select “+Add Question Bank”.
HOW TO CREATE QUESTION BANKS
- STEP FOUR Name the question bank and press “Return” or “Enter” on your keyboard. You will now see the new question bank. If you’ve ever created quizzes in your course before, you will also see a bank named “Unfiled Questions”. Canvas automatically saves all quiz questions from your course in the “Unfiled Questions” bank.
DD NEW QUESTIONS
- STEP ONE: Open the question bank by clicking the title of the question bank.
- STEP TWO: Select “+Add a Question”.
- STEP THREE: Add as many individual questions as you wish to your question bank. Remember to click “Update Question” to save your changes.
MOVE AN INDIVIDUAL QUESTION FROM THE “UNFILED QUESTIONS” BANK

STEP ONE: Open the “Unfiled Questions” Bank and locate the question you would like to move, then click “move/copy question to another bank”.

STEP TWO: A pop-up window will display, select the destination question bank and then click “Move/Copy Question”.
Note: If you want to keep the question available in the Unfiled Questions bank, select the checkbox “Keep a copy in this question bank as well”. -
STEP ONE Open the “Unfiled Questions” Bank.

STEP TWO: Select “Move Multiple Questions” from the menu on the right.

STEP THREE: Select the checkbox next to the questions you want to move [1], select the question bank you want to move them to [2], then select “Move Questions” [3].

PART THREE: CREATING A QUIZ USING QUESTION BANKS

STEP ONE: Create a new quiz or open an existing quiz. Click on the “Questions” tab [1] and the select “Find Questions” [2].

STEP TWO: This will open the Find Quiz Questions box, which includes all question banks you’ve created in any course where you are listed as the “Teacher” role. Select the question bank you want to use questions from on the left. On the right, select the questions you would like to use by clicking “Select All” or by selecting questions individually. Once you have selected the questions you would like to insert into your quiz, scroll down to select “Add Questions”.

STEP THREE: You will now see your questions populated in the quiz you are creating. Repeat the steps if you also need to add questions from other question banks to this quiz.
