SEAGATE LYVE Cloud User Guide
Get Connected
Lyve Cloud is an S3 – compatible storage as a service built for scalable backups, frictionless archival, and big-data analytics to support any sized workload. Lyve Cloud’s flexible backend protected with Equinix’s Tier 4 data center defense makes connecting to any multi-cloud environment secure and efficient.
Lyve Cloud’s S3 compatible application programming interface (API) enables enterprises to easily connect to Lyve Cloud. S3 compatibility enables access to Lyve Cloud from any public or private internet service provider. After connecting to Lyve Cloud and the customer account is created, customers can follow these three simple steps to get started.
Create Lyve Cloud Account
Step 1: Create Bucket
Go to the “Bucket” section of the Lyve Cloud Console and select the “Create
Bucket” button.
Step 2: Create Bucket Permission
Go to the “Permissions” section of the Lyve Cloud Console and select the
“Create Bucket Permission” button.
Step 3: Create Service Accounts
Go to the “Service Accounts” section of the Lyve Cloud Console and select the
“Create Service Account” button.

Connect with Cyberduck
As a reminder, consult your organization’s policies and the EULA policies of the software before downloading 3rd party applications.
Connection Instructions: Please complete these steps in order.
Step 1: Copy the Server address in Lyve Cloud Select Buckets / Select the Bucket Name
Step 2: Select ‘Copy S3 endpoint’ and save the address.
This is the Server address. You will use this in step 6.
Step 3: Open Cyberduck – Select Bookmarks –> New Bookmark
Step 4: Choose Amazon S3
Step 5: Enter your Access Key
Step 6: Enter the Lyve Cloud server address using the link copied in
step 2.
Note the address does not contain ‘https://
- Confirm the URL has auto populated with your access key at the front of the URL address
- If the URL has not auto populated with your access key, you can manually create the address by entering
Example:
https://YOURACCESSKEY
@ S3 endpoint copied from step 2
https://YOURACCESSKEY@s3.us-
west-1.lyvecloud.seagate.com
Step 7: Input your Secret Access Key
- Select to expand More Options
- In the Web URL section, add the server address obtained from step 2, this time including ‘https://
- Close the window by clicking the red ‘X’ box. All settings are automatically saved.
Example: https://s3.us-west-1.lyvecloud.seagate.com
Step 8: Connect to the Server

Go to bookmarks or right click from within the correct, saved bookmarks.

Select ‘Connect to server’

Your screen will show your bucket name

Right click on your bucket name and select ‘Upload’.
You may now begin uploading data to Lyve Cloud!
Optional: To confirm your connection is active, select: Bookmarks / Toggle Bookmarks
Your connection with have a green dot on the right hand side of the screen indicating an active connection.
