Assembly and fitting
Prior to installation, ensure your mattress elevator is suitable for your local supply, i.e. 230 Volts 50Hz and UK 3-pin socket (BS1363)
-
Ensure that the bed to which the Ultimate Healthcare mattress elevator is fitted has a base of suitable strength and rigidity to support the product.
-
Having removed the mattress from the bed, place the mattress elevator on the headboard end of the bed base with the chrome bars uppermost.
-
The end of the base frame should be placed approximately 80mm from the end of the bed.
-
The two chrome bars are adjustable; these need to be set to suit the width of mattress. To do this, remove the four e-clips on the top and bottom bars of the mattress frame and extend to approximately 50mm inside the edge of the mattress. This will ensure full support. Once done so, replace the e-clips.
NOTE:
The Ultimate Healthcare mattress elevator has colour-matched retaining straps to identify where they should be fastened -

-
Secure the mattress elevator base section to the bed base using: The single blue strap along the length and looped under the base. The two green straps across the width and looped under the base.
Following step 6, ensure straps are tensioned fully and the mattress elevator is retained firmly in place. See picture below.
-
Replace the mattress with the bed sheet fitted onto the bed base and mattress elevator.
-
Secure the mattress elevator upper section to the mattress using the single black strap around the width of the mattress. Ensure the strap is tensioned sufficiently. See picture below.
-
Connect both transformer cable and hand controller cable to the two-mattress elevator leads attached to the actuator (motor).
-
Having ensured the power cables are routed safely towards the head end of the bed, insert the mains lead into the power supply. Then, insert the mains plug into the power socket. Power on is indicated by a green light on the transformer.
-
The mattress elevator is ready for use

Troubleshooting
Please note the mattress elevator does not contain any user serviceable components. Do not disassemble any components. In the event of failure, refer to your supplier.
In the event the mattress elevator fails to operate, complete the checks listed below:
- First ensure the metal framework (mechanism) is not obstructed.
- Ensure there is power to the mattress elevator; this is indicated by a green light on the transformer.
- Check the power cables are all connected properly.
- If the mattress elevator is overloaded, or usage exceeds 10 % (6 minutes per hour), the power supply has a built-in cut out. This will prevent further use and protects electrical components. Allow the mattress elevator 30 minutes to cool down before operating.
- Check 5 amp plug fuse has not blown.
If, having completed the above checks, the mattress elevator still fails to operate, please contact Customer Services on 0870 428 6295.
