PREPARATION AND USE

Remove all packaging material and remove the appliance with accessories. Remove all adhesive foils, stickers or paper from the appliance. Wash all parts, which will come in touch with food in hot water with soap, rinse them thoroughly with clean water and wipe dry or let dry before first use. Make sure that the power supply cord is not damaged and that it is not led underneath the appliance or over any sharp or hot surfaces. The socket must be readily accessible so that the appliance could be easily disconnected from the mains in case of danger. Pour clean drinking water into the appliance up to about 6 liters. Connect the power cord plug A6 to the electrical socket. Press the switch B1 to the position “I” (indicator B5 indicating connection to the mains).
Set the temperature regulator B2 into “100“ position and the timer regulator B3 into “ON” position (indicator B4 indicating heating). Wait until the water reaches boiling point (the indication lamp B4 turns OFF, and the indication lamp B5 will turn on) and let it boil for at least 10 minutes. Let the appliance cool off and pour out the water. Potential short and moderate smoke or smell is not a fault and a reason for taking the appliance back. Place the appliance on a solid flat and dry surface (e.g. kitchen table), out of reach of children. If you are going to use the appliance for preserving in jars, insert the removable grid A5 and fill the container with sufficient volume of water, depending on the character and amount of the prepared food. Plug the fork of the power supply A6 in the el. plug. The preserving pot is now ready for use. The operation of the ETA preserving pot is easy and consists of two main control features. It is the temperature regulator B2 and timer regulator B3. When finishing or discontinuing the heating process, turn off the appliance by turning both of the regulators counter-clockwise into „OFF/°C” position. Turn the switch B1 to position “O“
(indicators light will go off), and disconnect the power cord from the wall socket.

Over-heating protection
The preserving pot is equipped with a safety heat switch which will disconnect the heating body in case of insufficient or no amount of water. If water is not added the preserving pot will automatically turn off and must be allowed to cool. If the preserving pot does not work after having been connected to the el. outlet, in the lower part press button A7.

Temperature setting
The appliance is equipped with an in-built thermostat, which enables you to set the temperature from approx. 30 °C to 100 °C (boiling point) with ±8% accuracy. When reaching the set temperature, it is automatically maintained (depending on the setting of the timer).

Setting the timer
Timer regulator B3 can be used in two modes.

  • automatic mode “20 – 120”
The timer enables you to set time in the range of 20 – 120 minutes. To increase the time desired, turn the regulator clockwise. To decrease it, counter-clockwise. When the set time runs out, the appliance turns off and a signal (1 beep) will sound.

  • mode of continuous operation “ON”
In this mode, the heating is not time limited. It is suitable for heating food, which needs to be kept at a certain temperature longer than 120 minutes. You can set the mode by turning the regulator counter-clockwise into the “ON”. Do not turn the appliance on without water. Do not leave the appliance running unattended and keep an eye on it throughout the entire food preparation process!

  • mode “OFF” the timer is off.

NOTE

The appliance is equipped with a reached temperature indicator switch B1. If you turn it on (position “I”), the appliance will beep loudly to give you notice about the temperature being reached. This is good especially when you need to count down exact time of heating from the point when the pot reached the set temperature. You can thus avoid the time difference caused by time when the pot is only heating (the time to reach the set temperature is individual and depends on the volume of water, ambient temperature etc.)

The process of preserving in a few steps

  1. Insert the removable grid A5 on the bottom of the container.
  2. Put in the mason jars (see Tips).
  3. Fill the container A2 with the necessary volume of water.
  4. Put on the lid A4
  5. Plug the fork of the supply cord A6 into the el. outlet.
  6. Set the desired temperature of heating.
  7. Set the desired time.

CAUTION: The heating up time is not included in the preserving time.
The preserving time starts when the selected temperature has been reached. When reaching the set temperature and only now set the desired time of preservation with the hand knob B3.
The heating is fully automatic (it does not apply for the “ON” mode) and when the set time runs out, the appliance turns off. Then move the temperature regulator B2 into “°C” position and unplug the appliance from the outlet. Set the timer regulator into “ON” position for continuous operation.

NOTE

  • The indicator light B4 turns off and on during heating. This is the thermostat turning on, it is not a fault of the appliance.
  • The liquid must be added into the appliance before turning it on.
  • Make sure water does not boil out of the container during long-lasting heating!
  • Do not overfill the container of the preserving pot, leave at least 4 cm of free space from the top end of the container.
  • The outer part of the appliance warms up during the heating. Pay close attention and do not touch the hot spots.
  • Use the container with a lid!
  • Hot water may remain on the inner part of the lid! Be careful to prevent injuries (scalds or burns).

TIPS
The process of preservation is a traditional and proven method of keeping food. The ETA preserving pot also offers other uses, such as cooking, heating, preparing hot drinks (incl. mulled wine or punch), blanching of vegetables, etc. Follow your experience and general rules for cooking/preserving. You may find a few of them below.

  • It is very important that the food prepared is clean Fruit and vegetable should be of good quality, ripe and thoroughly cleaned. Rinse and dry the food well.
  • Green beans and peas lasts longer if you blanch it first.
  • Thick, syrupy liquids must be heated slowly and stirred constantly to prevent from scorching.
  • Jars, bottles and their lids need to be rinsed in hot water, adding a little soap.
  • Wash with clean water and let dry.
  • Leave the closings in clean water until you use them.
  • Do not use worn and damaged sealing, lids, jars or bottles.
  • Fill the containers up to 2 cm from the top. When preserving soft food (puree etc.), leave room 3-4 cm from the top.
  • When making smoked goods, fill the jars only up to ¾ of their volume.
  • Close and seal the jars with screw-on lids, spring fasteners or clips.
  • Close the jars (bottles etc.) right after conservation.
  • Always put the jars on the removable grid – this will ensure good circulation of the boiling water around the jars, resulting in faster heating.
  • You can use jars (containers) of various sizes and dimensions in this pot.
  • The jars must be immersed in water from 2/3 to ¾. Immerse the biggest jar in ¾ (see pic). The jars which are fully immersed are sealed, that is why no water gets to them.
  • Heating of the full volume of the pot may take up to 1.5 hours, it is therefore more efficient and faster to preserve “in steam”. Pour approx. 5-10 cm of water into the pot, this volume will heat up faster and the steam created will preserve with up to 60 %energy savings.
  • The temperature of water poured into the container should be approximately the same as the temperature inside of the jars.
  • Look up the temperature and time for preservation in your recipes, possibly other books about preservation.
  • Preserving starts only when the set temperature is reached.
  • Take out the jars when the time needed for preservation is up.
  • Store the preserved food in a cool, dark place.
  • It is good to write the date of preservation and their contents on the jars.
  • The position of the thermostat can not be changed once the timer has been set, the count-down could be interrupted. If you have to change the temperature during the heating process, set the timer to the “OFF” position. Only now set the new temperature and the new time.

MAINTENANCE

Unplug the appliance from power supply by taking the connector of the power cord out of the socket before any maintenance! Clean the steam pot only after it has cooled down! Clean the appliance regularly after every use. Do not use rough and aggressive detergents (e.g. sharp objects, peelers, chemical solvents, thinning agents, caustic agents for cleaning ovens or other solvents)! Wipe the outer surface with a damp cloth with soap. Rinse the container from the inside and remove some possible sediments of limescale with a solution of citric acid or vinegar (then let boil with clean water). You can take apart the release valve A1 and clean separately. If you process thicker foods, we recommend closing the valve from the inside with a sealing cap to prevent excessive fouling. Never dry the plastic die-cast over a heat source (e.g. stove, el./gas cooker). If the power cord is soiled, wipe it with a wet cloth. It is common for the surface color to change in time. This change, however, does not have any influence on the surface characteristics in any way and it cannot be subject to a complaint under warranty!

Cleaning of grommet valve (fig. 1)
With one hand grip the tap and with the other hold the plastic nut on the inside of the tank. Turn the tap anticlockwise to unscrew. The knurled cap at the top of the tap can then be unscrewed to release the tap mechanism. Wash all the other parts in hot water with a detergent, then rinse with clean water and let them dry completely. In the reverse sequence insert the grommet into the valve groove. In the reverse sequence assemble the individual parts in the correct order and position (pull the valve tight with appropriate force).
CAUTION: Make sure that the bearing surfaces are clean and functional.

Storing
The appliance in a safe place. Store the appliance thoroughly clean on a dry, dustless place out of reach of children and mentally disordered persons.
