Busy Books Australia NDIS Guide

Busy Books Australia’s Busy Books have been designed with young children and learning in mind. Tried and tested with Speech and Occupational Therapists and Psychologists, our Busy Books cover many NDIS goals such as:

  • Communication including emotions – an important foundation for language development and learning. Through the use of the emotions activities children are able to identify, ‘act out’ and discuss their feelings and thoughts
  • Literacy – explore sounds and words through play, gain understanding of lower and upper case letters and learn the alphabet
  • Social Skills – expand play interests, develop shared play and turn taking skills
  • Attention Span – supports visual perception, peak interest and provide exposure to a myriad of areas through the wide range of activities, therefore
  • keeping task motivation high, grow attention span and encourage prolonged engagement
  • Mobility – supports fine motor skills including use of pincer grip, pen grip, both hands together and crossing midline
  • Self care and self management – encourages children to occupy themselves during play

BUSY BOOKS FEEDBACK

“I love the busy books as a mum of toddlers and as a speech pathologist for a few reasons – it has images that are bright and simple for little learners to recognise, it makes matching, colours, counting, letter sounds and early writing fun. It’s also adaptable for whatever goals you are targeting – can be used for turn taking, requesting and other areas of receptive and expressive language development. It’s also compact and easy to take away with you to cafes, during travel or out and about. A sturdy, quality book developed by a mum with love – I highly recommend it as a screen free alternative at home and as an educational tool.” – Mariah – Sound Adventures Speech Pathology

“As an OT, this has helped my kids to increase their engagement in activities. I use it to model language and extend on theirs. This is also the perfect activity to facilitate their fine motor / bilateral coordination as they NEED to use their helper hand as the Velcro is quite strong ! One of my favourite adaptable activities is hiding the visuals around the room and drawing a treasure map for my 7 y/o client. An awesome way to build spatial awareness, visual perception AND get some movement. This will benefit parents, teachers, educators and therapists in supporting kids” – Jessica L – JessThanPerfect_OT, Occupational Therapist
