Walnut Thermometer
To start tracking your child’s temperature, simply position this discrete unit on their chest. -
Base Station
The base station is a protective travel case to store your Walnut thermometer and adhesive patches. To charge thethermometer, the thermometer will automatically charge whan it’s stored in the base station. (via the charging cabia in the package) -
Adhesive Patches (10 pieces included) To use the Walnut thermometer, place one adhesive patch on the back of the thennometer before positioning tt on your child’s chest.

Getting Started
step 1
Download the Walnut Cares App After downloading the Walnut Cares App, review
our simple guide for applying and operating the Walnut thermometer. Through
the app, you can create an account with an individual profile to track your
child’s temperature data. step 2
Pair the thermometer with your phone Take out the thermometer from the base
station. The indicator light, located on the penguin’s mouth, will flash
momentarly to signify that the thermometer is activated.
To pair the thermometer, switch your phone’s Bluetooth® on and choose Walnut
thermometer from the list of available devices if It doesn’t automatically
connect.
step 3
Apply an adhesive patch to the thermometer Peel off the protective layer
labeled 1″ before carefully signing the adhesive patch with the metal sensor
on the back of the Walnut thermometer.
step 4
Position the thermometer on your child’s chest Peel off the protective back
layer of the adhesive patch. Be careful to position the metal sensor in the
middle of your child’s chest. Press ightly before checking that the Walnut
thermometer is fixed securely.
step 5
Calibrate and begin monitoring
Equipped with automatic calibration function, please allow the temperature to
be calibrated when the monitoring starts (calibration time: 3-5 minutes for
72°F normal room temperature. And takes 5-10 minutes Between 40°F-60°F). In
the meantime, you can use the app to establisha temperature alert.
Now, simply begin monitoring your child’s temperature, stress-free. Keep in
mind, the temperature alert will be set automatically based on your child’s
age, as entered in the profile you created through the app. You can override
this and set your desired temperature alert, described in detail in the chart
on page 24-25.
End of Your Temperature Session
step 1 Remove the adhesive patch To remove the thermometer, first loosen
the edges of the adhesive patch, then slowly raise it off the skin.
Next, simply remove the adhesive patch from the Walnut thermometer and dispose
of it. If there’s any residue left on the skin, wash gently with soap and warm
water.
step 2 Store the thermometer When not in use, keep the Walnut thermometer and extra adhesive patches in the base station. Please connect the charging cable to charge it again for better maintenance. Before the next use, thoroughly disinfect both sides of the Walnut thermometer using 70% isopropyl alcohol. Once dry, you can apply a new adhesive patch.
Cleaning and Care
The thermometer is mainly for home use, if used for multiple patients, please
clean the device in between uses with the following steps:
step 1 Use an alcohol swab or cotton tissue moistened with alcohol (70%
isopropyl) to clean the thermometer casing thoroughly. The wiping process
preferably lasts 15 seconds.
step 2 Allow at least 5 minutes drying time before taking a temperature.
step 3 After cleaning, if the device is not visually clean when observed with
magnification and adequate lighting, please repeat the clean steps above.
Note
- The cleaning steps above have been validated according to the FDA Guidance, “Reprocessing Medical Devices in HealthCare Settings: Validation Methods and Labeling”.
- Ensure that no liquid enters the interior of the device. Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners, or benzene for cleaning, and never immerse the device in water or other cleaning liquids.
Indicator Light
When you remove the Walnut wearable smart thermometer device from the base
station, the indicator light located in the Penguin’s mouth will flash blue.
This lets you know that the thermometer is activated.
If the indicator light doesn’t turn after removing the thermometer from the
base station, this signifies that the device is either out of battery. The
light on the base will turn blue when charging, and turn white when fully
charged.
You will also be notified by the app if the device runs out of battery while
you’re using it.
Adhesive Patches
Low-sensitivity Silicone Adhesive Patches The silicone adhesive patches that come with your device are a proprietary Walnut thermometer accessory. The adhesive is medical grade, low-sensitivity, and free of color and odor. This makes them safe for use on children and sensitive skin.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USING THE ADHESIVE PATCHES
- Do not leave the adhesive patch on longer than 24 hours. You may want to replace it sooner if any discomfort occurs.
- If skin rash or irritation occurs, carefully remove the thermometer and consult your doctor.
- Do not apply the adhesive skin to broken, irritated, or wounded skin.
- Do not apply lhe adhesive patch to skin with excess body hair, as removal is more Gory to be palnfid
- Store the adhesive Ina cod, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Only use the designated Walnut thermometer adhesive patches with the thermometer device.
- Do not apply the adhesive patches to babies who are premature or undersized, or who have a low birth weight.

Please note that the Walnut thermometer measures the chest temperature, and
then calculates the body temperature through an algorithm.
Temperature fluctuates throughout the body, so the reference temperature
depends on the area of measurement.
High Temperature Alert:
38°C 100.4°F
If not due to a fever, classified as hyperthermia. Symptoms include sweating
more than usual and feeling overheated, thirsty, a little hungry, and
generally uncomfortable. May be accompanied by chills if due to fever.
Calibration Time:
Walnut smart wearable thermometer is equipped with automatic calibration
function, please allow the temperature to be calibrated when the monitoring
starts (calibration time: 3-5 minutes for 72°F normal room temperature. And
takes 5-10 minutes Between 40°F-60°F).
Low Temperature Alert:

Reference Temperature Guidelines
Due to the influence of room temperature, it need 5-10 minutes to
calibration.
Keep in mind that the room temperature can affect your child’s temperature
measurement, so try to avoid an overly hot or cold room when measuring.
Notice: When you use the Walnut Thermometer at a room temperature higher than
89.5°F, first cool down the Walnut Thermometer below 89.5°F, for an accurate
reading purpose. Should you experience an unexpected dip in temperature or if
the reading is surprisingly low, check to make sure that the sensor is
attached properly and in full contact with the chest.

Q:Besides the middle chest, can I put Walnut Thermal in other body areas?****
– A:No. If you put it onto other areas, it may affect the temperature reading accuracy.
Q:What’s the best way to take off the Walnut Thermal?****
– A:As the video shows, please use your fingers to push down the baby’s skin, and then slowly take it off.
Q:What if there is some rash after I take off the Walnut Thermal?****
– A:Every baby’s skin types are different. We used the best 3M adhesive options. If there is any rash, please use some cream or Vaseline to put on the skin.
Q:Is the temperature reading accurate?****
– A:It’s accurate, the difference for the temperature is +/- 0.3 °F. It has been tested to the ASTM E1112-00 standard, which is required for all clinical digital thermometers. Please make sure 1: place the thermometer in the middle of the chest. 2: Don’t put it in an extreme environment.
Q:What is the maximum range of Bluetooth?****
– A:It’s about 30 feet (10 meters) between the Walnut Thermal and the smartphone.
Q:How can I tell if the thermometer has a battery?****
– A:One way you can tell is by the penguin’s mouth. If there is no red light blink when you take it out of the base station, it has no battery. Secondly, the app will remind you of the insufficient charge.
Q:How long should I use adhesive on my baby?****
– A:We recommend you change the adhesive every 12 hours, no longer than 24 hours. Please make sure the baby’s skin is ok after use.
Q:Can adults use Walnut Thermal?****
– A:We recommend not to because an adult’s temperature measurement algorithm standard is different compare to a kid’s.
Q:Can I use multiple phones to monitor the same thermometer?****
– A:No. You only can connect one phone with one Walnut Thermal.
Q:Can I close the app/run it in the background?****
– A:Yes you can. You still can send messages or taking a phone call.
Q: Do I have to re-pair the device to my smartphone every fever occasion, or it connects automatically after the initial pairing?****
– A:After the first time pair with your phone, you don’t need to pair again next time. If you want to pair with a different phone, you have to disconnect the original paired phone, and then connect with the new phone.
Q:How will my information and my child’s information be stored?****
– Alt will be secured inside your app locally. We don’t restore any information online for your private purpose.
Q:Which phones/tablets does Walnut Thermal work with?****
– A:The Walnut Thermal app supports the IOS Apple store and Android. It supports smartphones and tablets.
Q:ls the Walnut Thermal waterproof?****
– A:Please note that the thermometer is made of relatively precise components, and as your mobile phone, it is not suitable to be used and stored in excessive humidity, nor extreme high/low-temperature environments.
Q:What if a child accidentally puts Walnut Thermal in his mouth?****
– A:Walnut Thermal is made of Food-grade liquid silicone. However, please do NOT swallow, if you put it in your mouth, take it out as soon as possible.
Troubleshooting

Put the thermometer into the base station to charge, but the charging
indicator light is not on.| Lightly touch the thermometer with your finger and
try to adjust its

try to connect again after it is fully charged.

The APP cannot automatically connect to the thermometer.| Make sure the
thermometer and phone are within 10 meters of each other and in the same room.
Click the directory at the upper left corner of the APP interface, select
“Device”, and click the “+” button at the upper right corner to automatically
match the thermometer link.
Temperature reading was lower/higher than expected.| Be careful to position
the metal sensor in the middle of your child’s chest. Press lightly before
checking that the Walnut thermometer is fixed securely.

Temperature reading is much lower than the actual.| The thermometer is
equipped with automatic calibration function, please allow the temperature to

be patient, it is being automatically calibrated.

- Walnut Wearable Smart Thermometer aluelooth? connection reaches a communication range of about30feet. This may be affected by obstacles such as woes, people, or large metal objects, in addition to electromagnetic waves.
- Yes phone battery will be depleted faster with the consistent use of Eluetoothe commisication. Make sure to charge your battery as needed to keep it from dying during monitoring.
- While monitoring, you are free to use any other appications on your phone. However, be careful not to close the Walnut thermometer app or you will lose your currant temperature monitoring period.
- To receive temperature notifications, navigate to your phones settings to enable push notifications from the Walnut thermometer app. Addle:malty, make sure that your phone isnot set to either mute or “do not disturb”.
- Monitor your child regularly for any indication of illness.
