Crayola Fairy Lantern and Lightning Bug Jar

Glow on with these DIY mason jar crafts for summer! Make a cute Fairy Lanternor a cool Bug Jar with metallic and glitter art supplies.

Supplies

• Crayola Washable Metallic Paint
• Crayola Glitter Glue
• Crayola No-Run School Glue
• Mason Jar with Lid
• Sponge Tip Brush
• Twine or Ribbon
• Battery-Operated Tea Lights
• Crayola Window Markers
• Crayola Scissors
• Crayola Paint Brushes
• Disposable Plate
• Tulle
• Beads

Steps

1. Remove and disassemble lid frommason jar. Pour paint on disposableplate and apply to inside of jar withsponge-tip brush
2. Using window markers, draw bugsor fairies on outside of jar.
3. Outline bugs or fairies—plus addany embellishments—with glitter glue.Dry 3–4 hours
4. If completing Bug Jar, cut tulle intoa circle so that it fi ts inside thedisassembled lid rim when fl ippedover. Line inner rim with glue, lay intulle, and fully secure with paintbrush end. Dry 1–2 hours
5. Once dry, twist lid onto jar
6. If completing Fairy Lantern, cuttwine for lantern handle. Tie one endto disassembled lid rim, feed onbeads, and tie other end to lid. Cut offany excess twine.
7. Twist lid onto jar and add tea light
8. Enjoy the fun glowing mason jarcraft at night!

• Be inspired to make another type of mason jar lantern with other animals,characters, or designs!
• In lieu of a tea light, battery-operated string lights can be used.
